Shannon Bream on Fox News

I'm working on my course syllabi and watching Fox News. It's always a pleasure to see Shannon Bream's reporting, and she's been getting more time at the anchor desk on the weekends as well. Did readers know that she's a former Miss Virginia and Miss Florida, and a Miss USA beauty contestant? Here's the clip of Bream's participation in a 1995 swimsuit competition (at 3:45 minutes). Bream was at that time Miss Shannon DePuy. Her Twitter page is here.

Sarah Palin was a beauty queen who clearly earned her position as Governor of Alaska - she campaigned and the people voted her in.

However, I'm pretty sick and tired of the news being dominated by beauty contestants and people chosen for their looks - especially women.

I'd like to see plain Janes in frumpy clothes, thanks.

This culture is braindead. It's all about looks and titillation.

It's the dumbing down of America.

The salacious blogs on here, Donald, are just evidence of the dumbing down of America.

People are so stupid they sit around and want to be titillated.

Really, really stupid people. Putting aside their morals - they're base, dumb, brute beasts.

And we wonder why our nation has fallen, in ruin, and headed for the Judgment of God.
