Voyeur Demand for Erin Andrews Story

Well, folks should check my Feedjit Live Traffic Feed. It provides real-time information on the referrals to the blog, as well as the outclicks ...

I found one interesting
Google search result just now. A visitor was referred by searching the key words: "nude site:blogspot.com." If you check the link, at the present time (9:50pm PST), Robert Stacy McCain's, "The Other McCain: CARRIE PREJEAN NUDE PIC SCANDAL, is the second search result, and my post, "American Power: Nude Video of Erin Andrews!," is the third.

While interesting, this doesn't really confirm the Google-bomb hypothesis. The "nude site:blogspot.com" is an extremely unusual search. My post is not turning up as a top result at Google with the keywords, "
Erin Andrews Nude." If you check the article, "Erin Andrews Peephole Video Hits the Internet," it suggests that:

Some surfers are claiming that the Erin Andrews Peephole Video can still be accessed in Google cache, and there also hundreds of clips showing up on Youtube claiming to be the real video, but are nothing more than people trying to get view and subscriptions to their own videos.

Google is still providing lots of results, but there's been no huge rush of traffic. Bing.com is a different story. My post turns up fourth when searching for "Erin Andrews Nude."

Also, I won't link to this one (I'm drawing a line), but here's an interesting comment on the origins of the Andrews peephole video, published Friday:

While to most of the world, these Erin Andrews videos are “new”. That’s not the case whatsoever. These videos have been sitting on Dailymotion.com for over 4 months. So for anyone claiming that these videos were “leaked” in coincidence with the now famous ESPY dress, you’re just plain wrong.

These videos have been sitting on the Internet, widely available to anyone willing to click on the video tab in Google after searching “Erin Andrews” with safe search turned off.

How these videos flew under the radar for so long is beyond me, beyond the fact that nobody had a concrete source for the videos or could verify that the videos were indeed of Erin Andrews.

That all changed today when ESPN’s general counsel sent and email to NSFWPOA.com requesting to take the videos down. Jaws dropped as this was basically an acknowledgment that the videos were of Erin Andrews.

In the late afternoon Deadspin ran a piece on the videos and the email from ESPN, and then something peculiar happened. Erin Andrews released a statement via her lawyers, that she was indeed in the videos and going to rain Hell on the source.

So now we’re left with questions, and lots of them. If you’ve seen the videos or screen caps, you’ll realize that yes it resembles her but the quality is so poor that if they were not acknowledged it would have been passed off as a sophomoric Internet prank.
The author goes on to hypothesize as to the location and identity of the perpetrator.

Also, for the record, I learned about the Andrews story this morning, while searching for gossip news at WeSmirch. Here's the original
permalink.

I wrote the post primarily as a news item, not one of my usual "Rule 5" entries. And as I noted at the conclusion, "Remember, I'm testing
Robert Stacy McCain's Hot Babes Google Bomb theory." But in writing and researching this story, I've learned a lot. One thing that's striking is how robust demand is for video clips of criminal privacy violations of pretty young celebrites. This guy pretty much sums up the Porky's mentality that's attached to the Erin Andrews voyeurism, "Peeping Tom Violates Erin Andrews":

If you are a sports fan heterosexual guy, then odds are at some point you have dreamed of seeing sideline candy and University of Florida grad Erin Andrews in her birthday suit. Perhaps in a classy Playboy layout, complete with candles and a bear-skin rug…?

Well, now you can, thanks to one man’s combination of depravity and ingenuity.

Apparently, Ms. Andrews was secretly taped through a peephole drilled in a hotel wall while cavorting in the buff. The grainy, poor quality clip is more than likely the work of a cell phone camera ...

I won’t be posting any links due to the fact ESPN can probably pay for some damn good legal counsel, but, I will give this advice -

Google>>>Erin Andrews>>>Videos>>>Remove “Safe Search”>>>3rd Video From The Top

I felt like I needed to shower after watching it. I’m sure the perpetrator is somewhere right now in his basement lowering a bottle of lotion to a girl held hostage in a well.

Now go forth. Enjoy this fellas handy work, and don’t forget to simultaneously condemn him for being disturbed enough to pull such a stunt.

See what I mean?

And, a second thing I learned from reporting this story is that there are a lot of uptight conservatives. I'm not linking to them here. But, I'll be clear: As I noted today, in an e-mail exchange as the Andrews post went viral, "right-bloggers will turn on themselves faster than a hyena to a carcass if another blogger expresses a view outside of the accepted cocoon." I can only wonder what kind of disturbed Victorian insecurities are unleashed when right-bloggers see "one of their own" report on a news story like this, including relevant links. Actually, the blog traffic wasn't all that great (no "Google-bomb", remember?), although I'd write another article on this tomorrow if something as compelling as a nude Erin Andrews story were to hit the Internet all over again.

Who is Erin Andrews and why should I care if she is naked? Whoever shot the video you are talking about should not be walking around free. Its one thing if it is a persons choice, it is another if it is spying.
