Riots in Oakland After Oscar Grant Verdict: 'Many Bent on Destruction No Matter What'

The guilty verdict is here: "Mehserle convicted of involuntary manslaughter."

And the late update, "
After dark, mobs form, smash windows, loot":
The trouble Thursday boiled down to a racially diverse mob of about 200 people, many bent on destruction no matter what, confronting police after the day's predominantly peaceful demonstrations ended.

Sporadic conflicts were quelled quickly early in the evening, but by late night at least 50 people - and maybe as many as 100 - had been arrested as small groups smashed windows, looted businesses and set trash bins on fire.
Plus, a massive slideshow at Oakland Tribune, "Mehserle guilty of involuntary manslaughter." Clicking through to photo #9, protester Raquel Sharp is pictured with a "Made in Aztlán" t-shirt, and at slide #18, an unidentified protester is arrested sporting a keffiyeh. Gives you an idea of what "social justice" is about ...

And here's this on
Twitter:
Many of the most aggressive demonstrators smashing the windows of banks and shops were white.

Lots of video. Notice especially this first clip of the looting, with the thug walking out casually --- with products packed neatly in a bag --- as if it's shopping at the mall:

And here's how Occupy California describes it:

As the rally ended and the sound system removed, only a handful of people left the area. For nearly an hour, the crowd remained confused and unsure what the next step was. People milled about, discussing what had happened, reacquainting themselves with friends, and figuring out what to do. Much of the sentiment in the crowd seemed to wish a march or a collective escape from the intersections. Instead we stood around, as police forces continued to encircle the crowd. Eventually the crowd felt a sense of rush, away from 12th st and back to 14th and broadway. There we stood again, dense as sardines in a can without a collective escape from the looming police. As the anticipation rose, waves of excitement and fear hit us. Those of us in the middle and back of the crowd near 14th st felt bodies rush past us and then forward again north on broadway. Finally something snapped, people began spraying graffiti on walls and smashing windows. The footlocker on broadway was smashed, but the metal security fence behind the glass held no one back; the crowd pushed through and the merchandise in the store was looted. The bounty was shared by all as looters liberated shoes and clothing and jettisoned much of it into the crowd.
Hmm ... "looters liberated shoes"?

There's no such thing as private property to the anarcho-communist thugs.

  1. I'm so sick of these self destructive ass-hats telling everyone who is to blame for all their woes.

This behavior is symptomatic of why people are in the straights they are in California. Today, when they want to go buy something from that store, they'll blame their inability on everyone but themselves.

  2. The goings-on in Oakland might be a trial balloon. Remember the concurrent scandal on the other side of the continent: the New Black Panther voter intimidation matter. There are activist racialist groups whose leaderships have wondered, in the aftermath of the Holder/Obama DOJ decision not to press on with that case, whether they might get away with pushing the outside of the envelope still further. The overall response (not just the police response) to the Oakland disturbances will be much on their minds, whichever way it runs.

Alongside that, white Americans have grown ever more uneasy about the state of race relations in America. We have a de facto open southern border that the Obamunists are trying to keep open. Hispanics already in this country have been shrieking that to close it, as Arizona has proposed to do with its own resources, amounts to racial discrimination. (NB: Hispanics are racially Caucasian -- white.) So those of us whose allegiances are to this country -- and yes, that includes many Hispanic immigrants and persons of Hispanic descent -- are getting nearer to the trigger point at which agitator becomes a synonym for target.

There isn't a locale on the Eastern Seaboard where there's no sense of invasion. Even in my tranquil little village, you can feel the tension rising. Menacing-looking Negroes in thuggish garb loom near doorways, on street corners, and at the entrances to stores and shopping centers. Hordes of illegal immigrants cluster around every gas station and convenience store. We've even suffered a few probings by Mara Salvatrucha-13.

For my part, I've just bought a second AR-15 and ordered another 2000 rounds of 5.56 NATO. I don't want to have to use them, but if I must, I will -- and I'll be chanting Rudyard Kipling while I do it:

"Let the corn be all one sheaf,
And the grapes be all one vine,
Ere our children's teeth are set on edge
    By bitter bread and wine."

    (The Stranger)

Merely one part of the penance we're foredoomed to pay for our sins.

  4. Oakland is where Berkeley communists go to riot, so that they don't soil their own nests.
