The Radical Assault on America's Future

I visited the David Horowitz Freedom Center yesterday. David Swindle, Managing Editor at NewsReal Blog, set me up with some reading material, in including The Politics of Bad Faith: The Radical Assault on America's Future.
Behind the facade of liberalism, the Left has continued to advance its socialist schemes: to redistribute resources according to race, gender, and class and to turn Big Government into Big Brother.
This is the book to read if you're worried about the freakish nihilism of the radical left, or if you've been fooled by the MEDIA-INDUSTRIAL-ISLAMIST-COMPLEX's neo-communist disinformation campaign. A complete masterpiece.

Horowitz is one of the reasons that I rarely give up on anyone and I believe many of us on the Conservative side think the same way. Many of us have made the same or similar journey away from the Dark side.
Horowitz was one of the intellectual "lights" and leaders on the Left during the 60's and wrote much of the foundational material still used by the Left. He was in many cases the voice and face of the Left.
Like many of us Horowitz began to mature and started asking himself the questions most Leftist fear and that is, "What do I believe, why and what are those ideas real effect?" When one begins to sit down and quietly ponder one's ideas about life and other people one cannot feel horror at how callous and how wrong one is. Reality is not as one dreams it to be.
It is one of the reasons that you will seldom read or hear most on the Conservative side wish others disaster or death. Inside many young people on the Left are just people who have not really formulated or discovered the answers to why they think the way they do. It is some what akin to asking a protester holding a sign calling others bigots and racist whether you were a bigot because you disareed with the protester's cause celebe. He and his fellow followers were lost for an answer.
The sound of the words like I am democratic, liberal et al are so nice and comfortable that it is easy not to look at how those terms have been corrupted. It just feels good to say to others. Words, titles and ideas may sound good, but it is their ultimate cause and effect that really define them.
Horowitz has made the journey through the "mine field" of feel good ism to rational thought that ideas have consequences and that we have to recognize what those cause and effects are. Many of which are not what one would want if one was thinking their way through all the possible outcomes.

Good grief...you're an asshole. David Horowitz? Really? It must really suck to wake up every morning feeling like the whole world is against you and knowing that all you've ever believed in is based on a foundation of lies and corruption. Here's a clue...get over yourself douchebag, you're nothing but a bag of meat and your thoughts and desires are meaningless and you are a worthless piece of poo.

Anon demonstrates what happens when the intellectual leaders of a movement move on because they understand the speciousness of their former argumentation. These people are left with low level individuals who have to be happy with looking for the one small mistake others may make because they cannot think for themselves or defend their own ideas. They are left to name calling and attempting to degrade their opponent. NOTE: Most of us consider that we are winning as soon as the name calling et al starts. There is no better indicator than when your opponent has only this as a response.
Where does one find the Locke, Hume, et al of today on the Left? It just does not exist. I can understand why they may not like Horowitz.
I feel for your situation in that you work and live in one of the few environments where its inhabitants never have to grow up, academe. Sadly, when many of them step out into reality the only thing their theories do is create disaster. It is good to see some of them running back to academe where they cannot do as much damage. Young people have time to get over the damage done to them unlike the society as a whole.
The good news is that some of these people will begin to question why their only response seems to be this and not well reasoned argumentation. We have already won if this is the best they can do.
Opinion is of no value if it is not reasoned.

It's now on my reading list. I've actually been reading a fair bit of Horowitz lately already.

I'm going to put this on my library check out list. I hope they have it. The Chicago public library has a funny way of not having really great patriotic books even on the shelves, or if you order them online (to be picked up when they arrive at your branch) you are waiting a long time.

Wish I could afford to buy it, but thanks to obama, I'm lucky I can afford a cheezburger at McD's.
