We'll likely see a "White Christmas" in Southern California this year.
The snow level was down to 2000 feet during this week's storms. Snow blanketed the local foothills beneath Saddleback Mountain, not far from my home. Pictured above are the San Gabriel Mountains, seen from Bolsa Chica State Ecological Reserve.
I often go down to the beach on Christmas, so this is a beautiful change. Here's wishing readers a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.

That's not far from my home, Philippe. It's very beautiful in Southern California, but we don't often get this white weather.
ReplyDeleteThat is an amazing photo! Living in Pasadena, that is right up close, but Bolsa Chica is over 30 miles away from the mountains. See, America, we DO have seasons in So. Cal! Merry Christmas, Happy Hanakah, Happy New Year to you and yours!
ReplyDeleteHere's wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah and a healthy new year!
ReplyDeleteWe just got about 4 inches of snow here in the NYC area and my shovel is waiting for me. For many years our Christmas morning tradition was to be
among the first skaters at the Rockefeller Center ice rink. Beautiful, but rather it was the beach !
Thanks Righty! You must have some good views of the mountains as well.
ReplyDeleteHi Norm: I love the snow, and we do get it down here, but one has to go up in elevation, to the local mountains, to see it first hand. My mom lives in the high desert, and she was snowed in, so that's unusual.
ReplyDeleteHave a Happy Chanukah and great New Year.
No Philippe, that's from the L.A. Times. Click on the link at the bottom of the post for more pictures.

ReplyDeleteWe have snow here, too, and will get more by the time Christmas is here, I'm sure.
I used to love going to the Laguna Mountains for the snow, which was always fun.
I hope you and your family have a wonderful Christmas, filled with Peace and happiness.
Hi Grace: Aren't you in California?
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jan. I cleaned house today to get ready. I have to finish shopping, and we'll buy food for our holiday meal. We'll be staying home, and then traveling to see family in January.
ReplyDeletePeace to you and yours.
What a beautiful picture!!!
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas to you and your family, Donald! I hope it's a very blessed time for all of you! :)
Thank you for sharing the snow scene, Donald. It's a real treat to see.
ReplyDeleteThis evening at the San Diego Pops concert (an annual Christmas tradition in my household) they created the most amazing snowfall in Symphony Hall. It fell for several minutes, filling the air and settling on everyone there. It was amazing how realistic it was; it was a big hit with everyone.
Sometimes you have to create your own white Christmas!
Be well,
brenda
