Strip away the clichés and the vacuous newspeak blaring out across the servile media and its pathetic corps of voluntary state servants in the Western world and what you will find is the naked desire for hegemony; for power over the weak and dominion over the world’s wealth. This quote is from Jennifer Loewenstein of the Middle East Studies Program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Cinnamon Stillwell links to Lowenstein's essay, "If Hamas Did Not Exist: Israel Has No Intention of Granting a Palestinian State," published at the extreme left-wing and anti-Semitic newsletter Counterpunch.

You lose me on this one... (You're probably pleased 8>)
ReplyDeleteWhen looking for mideast news/opinion, I'd no sooner read Counterpunch than I would Frontpage. I've tried both, but find they are just opposite sides of the same hateful coin, leaving a whole lot of innocent Israeli or Palestinian citizens (which, depends on the publication) to die.
All that BS out of acamdemia...these are the morons who will fight Israel until the last Gazan/Palestinian 16 year old armed fighter is dead. Shame on them.
ReplyDeleteThe message from Israel is and has always been: If you want peace, we will be happy to oblige you; if you want to fight, we will happy to oblige you too....your choice.
I'm just throwing this out there...
ReplyDeleteFrom what I've read, the "academics" and such are trying to position Hamas as a downtrodden, besieged entity that isn't actually causing any large-scale casualties, and justifying it that way. What they fail to do is explain these bombardments in a manner that makes sense. So no, I don't really agree with their attempt at rationalization.
However, what I am not seeing is blatant anti-semitism. I am seeing plenty of anti-Israeli sentiment.
There is a big difference. Historically, anti-semitism is a religious antipathy that has roots in the Jews not recognizing the savior. It began before the establishment of the Catholic church, and it still exists today, sometimes in subtle forms and even from people who say they support Israel.
However, I think this is slightly different than just anti-semitism.
Any thoughts?
Norm "peace" isn't a one way street.
ReplyDeleteIts a two-way street.
Would you be interested in living in place surrounded on all sides by armed militia that control your every move, while limiting your human right to living a dignified life free of military occupation and control? Not to mention having to resort to begging for "aid", at the hands of their occupiers. I am sure you would enjoy having your homes kicked in, and bulldozed because you were somehow "suspected" of having a Hamas member around the corner.
I am sure you would sleep in peace, while your children are blown to pieces by kfir jets, in the name of "collateral damage"?
We understand your disdain for academia, especially when it pertains to this war, because those who have studied it clearly and been through the 1000's of pages of resolutions are pretty clear and unanimous on the issues and what needs to be done.
The propagated image of this conflict as some extraordinarily complex process is a myth that has beeen perpetuated by propagandists to ensure that those in the west remain thoroughly confused about the realities behind this war.
Meanwhile, those who have studied this conflict thoroughly are hardly at odds about the possibilities of the solutions. Infact there have been unaninomous world court decisions on it.
There are only two parties who consistently disengage any serious resolutions regarding the matter. The United States, and your beloved Israel.
Hamas is an EXCUSE to continue the occupation. PERIOD.
C.S.: You've worn out your welcome. I don't appreciate your comments, and you're not worthy of debate. I suggest you just go visit some other blogs. Don't come back.
ReplyDeleteDonald, you said "extreme leftwing and anti-semitic." You're being redundant.
ReplyDeleteCS, you don't have a clue about the history of Israel and the so-called Palestinians and the vile ideology that drives them. So you've read some UN resolutions? The UN is anti-american, anti-semitic and anti-freedom. You are only well-versed in some very skewed propgaganda.
Why is that you libbies ALWAYS side with the side of totalitarianism and despotism in any fight? Doesn't say much for your character or your sense of wrong and right.
There is no "occupation." The Israelis are home where they belong and they are going to stay there.
You're right, Stogie ... that was redundant.
