(Right) Left thinking people scoffed when Bush claimed that liberating Iraq would spread the seeds of democracy throughout the region. Now look what his twisted policy has gone and done. How is Chairman Obama ever going to claim credit for this grassroots Iranian revolution? Is it too late to republish his Cairo speech and add a few lines calling on the people of Iran to rise up?Related: The Rhetorican, "Bush Is Missed at the White House."

The Bush Legacy in Iran
From the People's Cube, "That Damn Bush Legacy":
Good question,,,
ReplyDeleteThe policies of Bush?....
or the election of Obama?....
For some reason, The invasion of a sovereign nation by US forces.....(and all that has since come of it) doesnt seem to be the impetus for whats going on in Iran right now....
re: cracker:"The invasion of a sovereign nation by US forces.....(and all that has since come of it)"
ReplyDeleteOne of the minor things tha have come of deposing Saddam in Iraq to which you paranthetically allude is free & fair elections. I believe that does have quite a bit of influence on what is taking place in Iran.
There's a reason the Left is so furious wsith Bush and his policy in Iraq. They have much political capital invested in the various tyrannies of the Middle East, especially in countries like Syria. If a wave of democracy-seeking people rise up, the Left will lose a tremendous part of their power there.
ReplyDeletePerhaps this is one reason why Putin is giving a nuclear capability to the Iranians. They know the Iranian mullahs won't be afraid to use them on their own people.
I have yet to see Anywhere....
ReplyDeleteAn Iranian student....or Iranian Woman
Thank Bush...either for the invasion of Iraq or anything else.
Parse it so it makes ya feel good
but at the end of the day....
Its a movement inspired by the One...Picked up by the youth, just like here in the states....Hope, Change, Yes we Can, whatever....
and God/Allah/Yaweh/Spaghetti bless America and Americans who vote.
Hint; ....start watching China
also watch Iraq begin to crumble, and they too, like Iran, will be left too take control on their own, as it should have always been....this is the lesson cowboys never learn.
cracker, what history shows me is that the cause of sustainable peace, across the world, has been advanced farther by the cowboy's "Yippie-Ky-Ay-A" than the "Kumbiyah" of the Best and Brightest.
ReplyDeleteIf nothing else, we removed one of the biggest sources of propaganda leverage for the Mad Mullahs, when we took Saddam out ... ever think that this made the Iranian dissidents' job easier?

ReplyDeleteWhich Iranians are thanking Obama for his speech?
