But the story's taking a deeply significant political angle. See Michelle Malkin, "Violent Felon Granted Clemency by Huckabee Now Sought in Lakewood, WA Police Ambush." Also, at Confederate Yankee, "Huckabee Paroled Cop Killer."
And Mike Huckabee's statement is here, at NWCN Washington News, "Person of Interest Identified in Deaths of Officers":
"The senseless and savage execution of police officers in Washington State has saddened the nation, and early reports indicate that a person of interest is a repeat offender who once lived in Arkansas and was wanted on outstanding warrants here and Washington State. The murder of any individual is a profound tragedy, but the murder of a police officer is the worst of all murders in that it is an assault on every citizen and the laws we live within. Also at Huck Pac, "Statement Regarding Washington State Slayings."
Should he be found to be responsible for this horrible tragedy, it will be the result of a series of failures in the criminal justice system in both Arkansas and Washington State. He was recommended for and received a commutation of his original sentence from 1990. This commutation making him parole eligible and was paroled by the parole board once they determined he met the conditions at that time. He was arrested later for parole violation and taken back to prison to serve his full term, but prosecutors dropped the charges that would have held him. It appears that he has continued to have a string of criminal and psychotic behavior but was not kept incarcerated by either state. This is a horrible and tragic event and if found and convicted the offender should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Our thoughts and prayers are and should be with the families of those honorable, brave, and heroic police officers."
Hat Tip: Memeorandum. See also, Legal Insurrection, "Willie Horton-ish."
Please join me in sending out a prayer to the loved ones of the officers. The Los Angeles Times has their names and pictures, "from left: Greg Richards, Tina Griswold, Ronald Owens and Mark Renninger."
Good Going, Mike!
ReplyDeleteTalk about playing politics and ignoring reality, you people are a joke, and four innocent lives are casualties of GOP ignorance. Congrats.
I won't be back to read your drivel, but don't let that stop you from smashing your fat, little fingers into your keyboard.
GOP ignorance? (fat little fingers?)
ReplyDeleteI have no time for your stupidity, the GOP is damned of they do or don't and you have not enough intelligence to even give a good argument. Anonymous is what you are, and will remain all your life. Can you even say Dukakis, Mr Anon?
How much you want to bet Huckabee was hounded by leftist groups begging him to commute the sentence because of this murderer's mental challenges? Hm?
This was a horrible act by a horrible creature, and no amount of finger pointing will erase the tragedy. But you idiots on the left will use it to your advantage to smear the right, as you do anything that suits you with or without facts.
What were your stupid comments on the terrorist killer at Fort Hood? Were you whining that he isn't a muslim terrorist? Maybe he too was a GOP ignorant?
I would normally delete the trolls, Trish. But you're on the case here!
ReplyDeleteLol Mike Huckabee wasn't the first person to make a mistake. He's made lots of them. I think Mike is probably the most interesting person in the GOP. But come on, the GOP is in ruins. Mike should play base in Obama's band. The GOP is grossly mismanaged and their political favours have all been used up. Of course the cycle will come back EVENTUALLY in their favour but as long as SARAH PALIN (nee MCCAIN'S MISTAKE)is a serious consideration for a PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE and Rush Limbaugh is the parties best known Quantity they're in trouble. ROMNEY AND STEELE ARE THE ONLY REAL CANDIDATES, no offence to Mike but I just don't think the American public will give Mike a chance.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I am Canadian. Start a new thread....lol
Anonymous - no, you are the joke, you mean spirited, cowardly imbecile !
ReplyDeleteNow on to reality: Huckabee later today actually took some responsibility for Clemmon’s release. Still, to me, as a Republican, this is outrageous. This error in his judgment is serious. In his five years of Governorship, with a great record otherwise, he was egregiously careless. Perhaps the Christian empathetic notions about forgiveness (often a weakness of the liberals) clouded the reality of understanding that hardened criminals are not like us. Huckabee pardoned/communted the sentences of some 1000 inmates in his, what was it, five years as governor? It makes me wonder about the others who got off. This guy, Clemmons, should have never been released. I think Huckabee, as a good person as he is, will/should further take responsibility for this, as the parloe board and bail bondsman should. The actions we take when in power have dire and lasting consequences. This is not okay. He and others, regardless of political affiliations should not be given a pass on releasing criminals or terrorists.
Oh God! Another liberal who thinks the GOP should run Huckabee. What a frigging surprise, surprise!
ReplyDeleteWow Donald, they come out of the woodwork when they smell fresh blood!
ReplyDeleteTyler, bone up on your homework kid, the GOP is not in ruins, and the democrats and liberals who act like you guys, are fueling a huge resurgence of conservative Republican support in 2010.
It can be said truly that the GOP is not getting the same amount of donations as the DNC (who are backed by uber rich Hollywood and music industry folks) but the truth is, we average citizens are poised to give directly to the conservative GOP or independent candidates locally, but directly, and when that happens the dollar amounts will soar! So go ahead and make your uninformed comments and watch as in the next few months things start to drop into place for the GOP.
And there's Huck- who unfortunately has too much compassion and will now lose a shot at running for it. But I believe he was correct in his judgment that 100 years (or 60or whatever the number was) for a 16 year old kid to have been sentenced to, was outrageous. At the time he was guilty of robberies, not saying that robbery is excusable, just saying it was excessive. It was the aholes judges in Washington letting him out on rape charges that irks me to no end, and caused the murders of 4 innocent police officers.
Your comments about Sarah being a mistake, are typical leftist BS, and I will let it ride since I no longer care what yo uall think of her, it is not relevant at all.
We will see who emerges as front runners for 2012; there is plenty of time to develop the right people for that job.
Trish, and like minds posting here. Branding me leftist is not accurate. I am not at all leftist, I'm a realist. The GOP used to stand for something now it is a punchline. The characters in the party are laughable. This idea that because someone is religious they have superior values is rIdiculous. Palin has no body of work to be even considered worthy of more than modelling glasses. She is probably a very nice person but represents scary views of religion and the world. Bush was a cowboy president and did alot for freedom and capitalism around the world but almost single handedly killed any positive international view of the US. Argue the facts, don't just resort to innacurate generalisations. Why can't you be articulate.
