I was respectful yesterday of Murtha's family, but my good friend Ken Davenport had a hard time restraining himself:
You are much more charitable than I, Donald. Murtha was corrupt ethically and despite his Vietnam service, proved himself to be a shill for the anti-war crowd at a time when American troops were in daily combat in Iraq. I make no distinction between Murtha and Harry Reid and his "the war is lost" comments. Murtha was no patriot. Sorry to say this but my feeling is "good riddance".

I'm having a real hard time feeling bad about this. lol. Aren't I awful??!!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely despised the man after what he said about the Marines in Haditha.
I hate to say it, but I agree with Ken Davenport.
ReplyDeleteHowever honorable Murtha's service may have been in Vietnam, it was more than canceled out by his later actions, particularly when his false accusations against our Marines was tantamount to giving aid and comfort to our enemies.
There was a time in this country, not too terribly long ago, that people who acted to aid our enemies during a time of war were arrested, not put on a pedestal by half the nation's population.
God, how far we have sunk.
