Evan Coyne Maloney is the documentary filmmaker and proprietor of Brain Terminal. During the Bush administration, Evan was out in the field with his camera observing protests and interviewing protesters. He is therefore in a good position to recall the signs and symbols of the left-wing opposition to the Bush administration's post-9/11 national security policies. How do they compare to the Tea Party protesters expressing their opposition to Barack Obama's program of national socialism? Here's another photo of the BUSH = NAZI ideological demonization from March 20, in Hollywood:
Evan has now produced a timely new video splicing together footage that he calls "A trip down memory lane." He describes it as four minutes of nonstop examples of violent imagery and extremist rhetoric employed by left-wing anti-Bush protesters. He writes: "For some reason, despite it being well documented at the time by me and many others, the media chose to ignore it." Indeed.
Recall that "SS" stands for "Schutzstaffel," Hitler's paramilitary security state within the state.
Plus, posted previously, "BOOSH," the racist Bush slur.:
Here's Brian Maloney at Brain Terminal, "A Trip Down Memory Lane":
Not too long ago, taking to the streets to protest your government was considered a patriotic act. When it comes to the Democrats, I'm ashamed for my country. But I'm not resigned. The tea parties are the salvation of democracy.
It’s true!
But it seems that publicly airing your grievances stopped being patriotic right around noon on January 20th, 2009.
Once President Obama was sworn in, protesting became incitement to violence ....
Why the difference in coverage? Did the media cheerlead the protests against President Bush to hurt him politically? Are they trying to marginalize the increasingly powerful Tea Party movement because they favor President Obama’s agenda?
One thing’s for sure: If there is such a thing as dangerous rhetoric, then the media is at least one president too late in reporting the story.
And since I know lefties will say "both sides do it." .... No, sorry, there's nothing -- absolutely nothing -- comparable to the secular demonization and violent rhetoric against the GOP during the Bush years, and it contiues today.
See, Zombie, "Death Threats Against Bush at Protests Ignored for Years."
Yes, and this is why I don't march with these idiots. Good video.
ReplyDeleteHowever, that does NOT excuse your tea party Hitler posters either.
This is so Orwellian: All Hitler comparisons are bad. But some are worse than others.
Give me a break.
Agreed, Tim. And both sides do it Don, no matter how many times you tell yourself and others how much better your side is for doing so. Ah, hypocrisy...
ReplyDeleteWhere was the concern about this when these protests occurred?
ReplyDeleteHow about when Durbin, Kerry, E]Kennedy et al called out troops Nazis???????
How about the General Betrayus ad in the NYT?
How about Hilary's remarks about suspending disbelief?
I saw no concern from people on the left. Why now?
Give me a break.
Don, I will probably never say this again, but you are right to point this out.
ReplyDeleteI would love to read your take on the rise of right-wing white militia groups, who probably hide their Hitler paraphernalia under their mattresses.
JBW and Tim: The difference is the leftist-progressive media never report the left's extremism. All you hear about is the "racist teabaggers" ... blah, blah.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the Democrats embrace their extremists, while genuine tea partiers repudiate those you focus on.
So, sorry, and I repeat, nothing, nothing is comparable to the left's demonization and double standards. You guys win, hands down.
According to the FBI there is no rise in Right wing militia groups and the prospect for violence from them is very low.
ReplyDeleteThe most chilling statement I have heard yet in the current sky-is-falling-climate on unsubstantiated racism, is from Louis Farrakhan. He stated what he calls the "white right" is conspiring to make Obama a “one-term president,” by suggesting that the “right” are “praying that he is assassinated.”
ReplyDeletehttp://www.foxnews.com/topics/louis-farrakhan.htm
This is the height of irresponsibility. It made me nervous when the left mentioned assassination about Bush, and it is making me nervous that Farrakhan would make such an irresponsible claim unsupported by facts. A few insane people do not define a party. I wish we could get back to reality. We have enough to debate without the incessant, infantile name calling.
Tim and JBW have never read history.
ReplyDeleteHitler comparisons with the current Comrade Chairman are dead-on.
Perhaps even worse.
You two government-educated, freedom-hating commie idiot morons are no different from the bulk of the German population in the 1920s and 30s.
After all, they didn't see it coming, and neither can you.
-Dave
Well spoken, Dave. This is why I come here: to hear geniuses like yourself present airtight, cogent rebuttals like "You guys is morons!" and "Obama is worse than Hitler". Whatever you do for a living, I hope that it involves a high amount of radiation and the wearing of lead-free pants because the thought of you breeding and passing your genes on to another generation makes me throw up a little in my mouth.
ReplyDelete"Blah, blah" is right, Don. "The leftist liberal commie pinko media is so totally against us and there's a conspiracy to smear teabaggers and Sarah Palin must be destroyed because they're so scared of her and you guys are so incredibly evil while we're just patriotic Americans who bring guns to presidential appearances and compare him to Hitler, for Christ's sake".
Yeah, you're so evolved. If what you say is so then answer the question I asked on my site last week: Why don't I see other tea partiers trying to eject the racist and violence advocating assholes from your little rallies? Yeah, you claim to repudiate these idiots and their ideas but I don't see anyone amongst you actively doing anything to distance your movement from them or them from your movement.
Tim nailed it: "Yes, and this is why I don't march with these idiots." If I were at an anti Iraq war march in 2003 and some idiot was standing next to me with a "BUSH = HITLER" sign I'd give the guy shit and tell that he should get lost because he's hurting the movement, yet I see tea partiers blithely standing next to someone holding a picture of Obama dressed as an African witch doctor with a bone through his nose not saying shit to them.
Even here, your post decries "leftists" holding signs comparing Bush to Hitler and one of your frequent commenters calls Obama worse than said Hitler and you also don't say shit, because he agrees with you and hates the same "leftists" you hate. As I commented on another of your threads, you and your side put up with extreme haters because they help your cause.
And before you retort: yes, the left does this too but I don't inanely spout off phrases like "nothing, nothing is comparable to the [side I don't agree with]'s demonization and double standards" because I'm not a myopic hack with no sense of self-awareness. Again, both sides do it and if you weren't a hypocrite of the first order you'd be able to see that.
I don't know if cursing and swearing is allowed in your comments, but we have a saying in Saskatchewan; "crazy as a shit house rat". Wide eyed amazement, both at the videos, and at some of the comments. Clearly, there is only one side with the crazy on it. Not just a little crazy, crazy like you rarely see outside of a hospital. Just the level of delusion and paranoia, clearly pot damages the brain or something. Then again, looking at people like David Icke, the craziest one are always seem to volunteer for the duty.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the Latin, Philippe. And squirrel turds, my friend. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHah! Very witty and entertaining comments!
ReplyDeleteIs it possible racists are planted in Tea Parties as a smear campaign? Maybe I am just suspicious by nature, but it would be a great way to discredit a movement (I’m not paranoid…people are really after me!).
But, seriously, for the record, if I was at a Tea Party Rally and someone was shouting racist remarks, I would get in his face and insist that he desist! If he was physically intimidating, I would hope that I would be able to get some support in numbers to shout him/them down as a side rally to try to drive him away - if this did not work I would leave the rally before I would be associated with racists.
That said, I don't believe that racism is a significant part of either party - I believe it is a great ruse to demonize the competition. But, when it's real, it is serious, and should be dealt with by direct action with impunity.
Word, Rusty. That's all I'm saying. Now, if any of your conservative brethren has the balls/brains to just step forward and echo those sentiments while explaining why no one actually does so I'd have a lot more respect for that side of the aisle.
ReplyDeleteTim the only ObaHitler graphics I've seen at Tea Parties have come from supporters of Lyndon LaRouche, the felonious former Democrat turned Indy freak.
ReplyDeleteNow if you want to explain to me how the Democrat/left's currewnt political and public tactics differ in ANY way from those of the prewar fascists in Germany and Italy, I'd be pleased to hear it. Seriously.
