Let's see, folks from the Washington Post, the New York Times, Time and Newsweek magazine. These are not children. These are people we're supposed to respect as objective, "smart" (a friend said this about the whole notion of "smart": I do get weary of the left needing to apply the word "smart" to themselves all the time. To make that distinction, "a smart...conversation" as opposed to all the stupid ones that don't involve them; because if they don't involve them, they are by definition stupid...), and fair.

Uh huh.

  1. If one has to keep telling everyone that they are smart, as in everything else, then they are NOT. Talent, ability, skill, smarts, etc are demonstrated by actions taken, not TALK.
NOTE: Those who have to tell themselves they are smart always define "smart" as what they want it to be.

  2. Amanda Marcotte, who isn't on the list, stated that she was on it, along with Jesse Taylor, one of her co-bloggers at Pandagon (who is listed).

  3. I used to wonder how people could become adherents to Nazi-Socialism, Stalin-ism, Fascism, Maoism or any other belief that espoused the elimination of others. Some of the things I found is that there has to a creation of a group identity, a number of individuals who believe that they are smarter than everyone else and one has to have a propaganda outlet that can be utilized to demonize the group and individuals that need to be eliminated. These are recurring ideas in every genocidal regime.
Here one has the face of those who create the conditions for that genocide.
Notice the ease with which they demonize those "NASCAR perverts," or the enjoyment they get out of the death of someone they do not like. Notice the "I am smarter, more capable and deserve to tell others what they should do and think." Notice the need to identify with people who state "Kill all them Crackers and their babies." Notice that in their mind there is always some reason why the group deserves what it gets. A sort of "All those Americans in New York deserved to die." Notice the desire to use the government to do their bidding.
One other factor one finds is the need for a government, who have people advising them who had no problem eliminating 25M people to achieve their goals, that think people need to be pushed into doing their bidding and has the means to make them do it no matter the desire by it citizens to not want to do it.
The fact that these people thought that because this was a private list they could say and do the things they did is indicative of who they really are underneath the facade presented and how far they would go to feel superior to others. Evil is strengthened by action such as theirs.
One would hope that a number of them might take the time to re-evaluate their ideas and analyze the ramifications involved and maybe express a little horror at where most of this leads. I won't hold by breath because the desire to feel one is better and smarter that others is fraught with hatred and that emotion is seductive and almost over powering.
