The Great Communicator: Sarah Palin Calls Out Despicable 'Blood Libel'

It's Reaganesque.

The full text is
here.

Additional commentary:

* The Hill, "
Palin accuses media of 'blood libel' in Giffords shooting aftermath." (Via Memeorandum.)

* At LAT, "
Sarah Palin unapologetic after criticism related to Arizona shootings‎."

Added: There's a debate over the origins and usage of "blood libel":

* Ben Smith, "The origins of ‘blood libel’."

* Jonah Goldberg, "“Blood Libel”."

And from Charles Krauthammer, "Massacre, followed by libel":
The charge: The Tucson massacre is a consequence of the "climate of hate" created by Sarah Palin, the Tea Party, Glenn Beck, Obamacare opponents and sundry other liberal betes noires.

The verdict: Rarely in American political discourse has there been a charge so reckless, so scurrilous and so unsupported by evidence.

  1. "Reaganesque"? Really, Don? Wow...

    From Palin: "Acts of monstrous criminality stand on their own. They begin and end with the criminals who commit them."

    Fair enough. Now a question for you not unique to myself: "So why was it in any way relevant that Barack Obama was 'palling around with terrorists'? If the acts of the radical left began and ended with them alone, why was Palin so insistent in the campaign on linking Obama to the Weather Underground - even though he'd met them decades after their crimes?"

    Here's another: If crimes "begin and end with the criminals who commit them," did Sarah Palin just endorse a mosque near Ground Zero?

    Discuss.

  3. By "discuss" I wasn't suggesting calling me names and dismissing anything I've said out of hand but you do what you feel is best, PRH.

    The rest of you: actually discuss...

  4. Obama gave a very shiny, pretty speech tonight.

    It would have been a better speech if it had been less at odds with Obama's own words and actions over the past two years, from his threatening bankers with mobs of pitchforks to his asinine "they bring a knife, you bring a gun," and his "I am angry, and you should be angry" to his "get in their faces" to his constant denigration of his opposition, his calls for Americans to inform on each other (remember flag@whitehouse.gov?)to his adoption and support of such thug operations as SEIU.

    Who knows, maybe he'll take his own advice.

    I doubt it though.
