Check the Blogger link to Althouse --- and poof!!
Also, at Instapundit, "ALTHOUSE’S BLOG IS DOWN ..." And more here.
And at Red State, "Google/Blogger going after Ann Althouse?"
And at Althouse2, Ann's backup blog:
You know, I'm beginning to suspect that there's some behind-the-scenes campaign to report my blog as abusive. People who hate/fear the Althouse blog could make a loud noise to Google. No doubt.
But Paul Campos at Lawyers, Guns and Murder is throwing up a smokescreen, suggesting the take-down is due to a post at Althouse on the job finalists for a new dean at the University of Wisconsin law school.
Added: More from Althouse2, "'So, your blog goes down right after being reported as a cesspool of [misogyny] and homophobia? Hmmmmm . . .'"
UPDATE: Althouse's blog is up: "Is this thing really back?"
UPDATE II: Check Patterico, who's taking this pretty seriously: "Don’t Let Google Off the Hook: Evidence Aplenty That Cretin “Nitecruzr” Represents Google — And Even Has the Ability to Flag Your Google Account!"
LOL - I sure hope it is not a take-down. It seems like it is more likely a residual glitch - the've been down all of yesterday and half of today system-wide.
ReplyDeleteAlthouse is a huge blog - and it makes sense it might take longer to restore - the error messages on hers are the same as others had.
BUT - maybe a large number of flags figure into the glitch as the system was coming back up it triggered something.
I'm guessing they are pretty stressed out at Blogger based on Ann's support thread - never seen anything like it.
Blogger was down a day and a half. I lost a post (but I only post one a day, usually) dated May 12; it was restored late on May 13. Twice. With all the labels screwed up.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it was intentional. Blogger, like Helen Thomas, is showing signs of stress cracks. Time to move along to Wordpress, leave the old Blogger for n00bs.
(Why hasn't Althouse moved on already? She's a first-tier blogger, needs to have a paid-for, exclusive domain. Same with Dr. Helen, Insty's squeeze; if anyone should be able to get a personal domain, the wife of mighty Insty should have one, don't you think?)
Althouse says she likes Blogger, or she has in the past. Maybe now she'll finally move on to her own personally hosted blog.
ReplyDeleteBUT WHAT ABOUT TINTIN?
ReplyDeleteThe entire Google blogger system is down and whole bunches of you jump to the conclusion it was an attack on Althouse. Paranoid much?
ReplyDeleteIt was blindingly obvious to anyone who reads more than a tiny, narrow set of blogs that the entire Blogger system was down, and in fact if you were trying to do anything at all on Blogger it was hard not to hit the announcement of a general problem with a link to the Blogger status update page.
ReplyDeleteWhat this tells us about the attention to detail and general awareness of anyone who believed for more than a few seconds that Althouse was being targeted, is left as an exercise for the reader.
IT'S A CONSPERRCY!!!
ReplyDeleteUmmmm...Mart, Lis, Ann's blog was locked down for spam. That's over and above what happened to all the rest of the Blogger blogs. There's a major issue with that, in that Ann lost 20 THOUSAND plus posts that have yet to be restored.
ReplyDeleteRead this.
