East Germany (DDR = Deutsche Demokratische Republik)
blamed capitalists for everything,
nationalized industry,
suppressed dissent,
glorified a (paranoid) leader,
spied on their own citizens,
hated Israel, supported Palestinian radicals,
and did it all the name of the 'common man'
