'Isn't She Lovely?"
Carol Roth asked yesterday what was the best Stevie Wonder song of all time?
I'm not the biggest fan, but I'd say his best song is "Isn't She Lovely?," or at least that's the one I most enjoy hearing.
Man, the dude can jam on the harmonica!

'Jumpin' Jack Flash'
The Rolling Stones, featuring Ronnie Wood, in 2015:
And the Stones, with the original lineup, featuring the late Brian Jones on rhythm guitar, in 1968:
When asked if he felt guilty about Jones's death, Mick Jagger told Rolling Stone in 1995: "No, I don't really. I do feel that I behaved in a very childish way, but we were very young, and in some ways we picked on him. But, unfortunately, he made himself a target for it; he was very, very jealous, very difficult, very manipulative, and if you do that in this kind of a group of people you get back as good as you give, to be honest. I wasn't understanding enough about his drug addiction. No one seemed to know much about drug addiction. Things like LSD were all new. No one knew the harm. People thought cocaine was good for you." Long-time Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman said of Jones, "He formed the band. He chose the members. He named the band. He chose the music we played. He got us gigs. ... he was very influential, very important, and then slowly lost it – highly intelligent – and just kind of wasted it and blew it all away."

"Stay With Me."
Don't say you love me
'Cause I'll only kick you out of the door
I know your name is Rita'Cause your perfume smelling sweeter
Since when I saw you down on the floor, guitar
You won't need to much persuadingI don't mean to sound degrading
But with a face like that
You got nothing to laugh about
Red lips hair and fingernails
I hear your a mean old Jezebel
Let's go up stairs and read my tarot cards, c'mon
Stay with me
Stay with me
For tonight you better stay with me, oh yeah
Stay with meStay with me
For tonight you better stay with me, oh rock on
So in the morningPlease don't say you love me
'Cause you know I'll only kick you out the door
Yea I'll pay your cab fare homeYou can even use my best cologne
Just don't be here in the morning when I wake up, c'mon honey
Stay with meStay with me
'Cause tonight you gonna stay with me
Sit down, get up, get down
Stay with meStay with me
'Cause tonight your going stay with me
Hey, what's your name again
Oh no, get down, whoo, hey, oh no, woo, get yourself home, slow down bab

'I'll Be There'
For some reason this song popped into my brain last night, and I've been singing it ever since.
The Jackson 5, with a very young Michael.
We must bring salvation back
Where there is love, I'll be there (I'll be there)
I'll reach out my hand to you
I'll have faith in all you do
Just call my name and I'll be there (I'll be there)
And oh, I'll be there to comfort you
Build my world of dreams around you
I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength
I'll keep holdin' on (holdin' on)
Yes I will, yes I will
Let me fill your heart with joy and laughter
Togetherness, girl, is all I'm after
Whenever you need me, I'll be there (I'll be there)
I'll be there to protect you (yeah baby)
With unselfish love that respects you
Just call my name and I'll be there (I'll be there)
And oh, I'll be there to comfort you
Build my world of dreams around you
I'm so glad that I found you
I'll be there with a love that's strong
I'll be your strength
I'll keep holdin' on
Ooh ooh ooh
Yes I will (holdin' on, holdin' on)
Yes I will
If you should ever find someone new
I know he better be good to you
'Cause if he doesn't
I'll be there (I'll be there)
Don't you know, baby, yeah, yeah
I'll be there, I'll be there
Just call my name, I'll be there (I'll be there)
Just look over your shoulders honey, ooh
I'll be there, I'll be there
Whenever you need me, I'll be there (I'll be there)
Don't you know, baby
I'll be there, I'll be there
Just call my name, I'll be there (I'll be there)
Oh, oh, oh, oh, I'll be there

'Nervous Breakdown'
I'm about to have a nervous breakdown
My head really hurts
If I don’t get the hell outta here
I'm gonna go berserk,
Cause I'm crazy and I’m hurt
Head on my shoulders
I'm going berserk
I hear the same old talk talk talk
The same old lines
Don't do me that today, yeah
If you know what's good for you you'll get out of my way 'cause
I'm crazy and I'm hurt
Head on my shoulders
Going ... berserk
I won't apologize
For acting outta line
You see the way I am
You leave any time you can 'cause
I'm crazy and I'm hurt
Head on my shoulders
Going ... berserk
Crazy! crazy! crazy! crazy!
I don't care what you fuckin' do!
I don't care what you fuckin' say!
I'm so sick of everything
I just want to... Die!

'Bridge Over Troubled Water'
The Concert in Central Park, from 1981.
Simon and Garfunkel:
When tears are in your eyes
I'll dry them all
I'm on your side
Oh, when times get rough
And friends just can't be found
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
When you're down and out
When you're on the street
When evening falls so hard
I will comfort you
I'll take your part
Oh, when darkness comes
And pain is all around
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will lay me down
Sail on silver girl
Sail on by
Your time has come to shine
All your dreams are on their way
See how they shine
Oh, if you need a friend
I'm sailing right behind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind
Like a bridge over troubled water
I will ease your mind

'So Far Away'
Carole King. (And James Taylor.)
I've been singing this song, and I couldn't remember who sings it.
She's so lovely, and this is 1971, so long ago.

'Both Sides Now'
I woke up singing this song. I don't know why. I also don't remember Mama Cass having her own show, but I was only 8-years-old in 1969, so I'ma cut myself some slack there, heh.
Joni Mitchell. What a beauty:
