The Fate of Anna, the Woman Who Was 'Raped' at Hobart and William Smith Colleges

You know, before we had the current fraternity and binge drinking culture (going back decades, for sure), which now includes women as much as ever, common sense and traditional values cautioned against getting drunk out of your mind, especially at a place teeming with dozens of plastered college frat boys.

It's a bad mixture all around.

I tweeted this New York Times story to Robert Stacy McCain last night:

And now at the Other McCain, "How to Get Raped at College":
One wonders how the world could be arranged so that 18-year-old girls can get drunk at parties and “grind” with football players without the players inferring from this behavior that the girls are interested in having sex.

One also wonders why colleges are treated like bubbles where normal rules do not apply. In the normal world, sexual assault is a felony, and is investigated and prosecuted as such. On college campuses, it seems, sexual assault is treated about as seriously as laws against providing alcohol to teenagers, i.e., not seriously at all: “Oopsie! You got drunk. Oopsie! Is that a football player’s penis in your butt?”

See, there is an unspoken agreement involved: If parents are paying $46,852 a year to send their daughter to college, the college isn’t going to kick the girl out (and forfeit $46,582) just because her idea of fun is chugging rum at the Kappa Sig house. If it weren’t for drunk freshman girls “grinding” on the dance floor, why would the guys at Kappa Sig — all of whom represent $46,852 in annual revenue to the college administration — bother throwing parties? And if the football players can’t take turns banging the drunk girl they picked up at the Kappa Sig house, what’s the point of playing football?

These are the implicit assumptions of 21st-century elite college life: Underage drinking and sexual promiscuity, for $46,852 a year...
I was shaking my head through the Times' article, and obviously if a woman alleges she's been raped, the last place she should go is to her college administration (a.k.a. Sham-Investigations-R-Us), but just screw political correctness if I suggest she was practically asking for it. From the Times:
Anna and her girlfriends often joked about how the national rape estimates might affect them. “They kept repeating the statistics,” she said, and “every night we would go out we would be like, ‘Oh, who’s going to be the one?’ ”

It took just 14 days to find out, Anna said.

Whether one believes the accuser or the accused, it would be hard to dispute that what happened was a life-altering experience that ruptured Anna’s nascent friendships, damaged her health, traumatized her family and derailed her college plans....

...on Sept. 7, Anna attended one of the year’s first big social events — a “highlighter party,” where students write on one another’s clothes with a marker that glows under black light.

Later there was dancing. Anna and a senior football player she had just met were grinding to the music, rubbing their bodies together. With so many students packed together in the basement, it became hot, and the football player escorted Anna upstairs, where smaller groups congregated in students’ bedrooms. A friend tried to stop her, but she went anyway.

Anna said she had begun the evening drinking shots of rum mixed into Gatorade. She drank one beer at the dance, she said, and then the rest of an opened beer her dance partner had given her.

Around midnight, a fraternity member tried to enter his room, but found it locked. He opened the door with his key and caught a glimpse of what would become a pivotal episode in Anna’s case: The senior football player was naked, and Anna was sitting on a bed with her top off, covering her breasts. The visitor quickly left.

About the same time, Anna texted the friend who had tried to intervene earlier; she had asked him to hold her keys because she had a hole in her pocket, and wanted them back. A subsequent message was darker, talking of hookups. “He got ten guys to try and hu with me,” Anna wrote and added, “I’m scared.”

She would later tell the hearing panel that she had exaggerated the number to get her friend’s attention. She texted again for her keys, and then wrote, “He won’t leave me.”

Her friend tried calling, but got no response. Around 1 a.m., he asked another student to check Anna’s room. She wasn’t there. “We need to find her ASAP,” he texted, adding, “She is so drunk.”

Eventually he tracked her to a building called the Barn, a dance hall favored by students who do not belong to fraternities. Inside the dimly lit room, a D.J. played music near a couple of pool tables.

Around 1:25 a.m., after 10 minutes of searching, the friend said, he found Anna “bent over the pool table face down with her back towards the wall.” She and the senior football player had their pants down, he said, “and it was clear they were having sex.”

Anna “had a scared look on her face,” he said, as six or seven people, perhaps five feet away, were “looking and laughing.”

Anna’s friend, a freshman who was also a football player, approached his teammate and told him that he was being disrespectful and had “crossed the line.”

“It wasn’t me, it was her,” the teammate replied.

The friend walked Anna back to her dorm. On the way, another student saw her crying.

To this day, Anna says she remembers nothing about the Barn, the pool table or what happened there...
If you read the whole thing, one commentator (Detective Brian E. Choffin, scroll down) indicates that given Anna's BAC, it's not likely she could have blacked out from the amount of alcohol she'd consumed. In other words, she might not be telling the truth.

Of course, some of the statements of the accused were disputed as well, so who knows?

I certainly don't know what to believe, which brings me back to the notion of personal responsibility. Anna got herself into trouble. So many of these "rape" stories I read about are just like this. It always comes down to he said, she said, and alcohol is involved, so the left's meme that "she couldn't have given consent" automatically prejudices the case against the accused. And since men have virtually no due process in these situations, it's a stacked deck. In this case Anna doesn't come out looking good, and her accusers were exonerated. But that's not the usual way these things play out. Parents need to know that before they send their sons away to college, the young men have "rape suspect" targets on their backs.

Holly Hobby Lobby Responds to Leftist Hatred: Walter James Casper III Spews More Leftist Hate

Repsac3, "Still Stalking. Still Hatin'. Still Trolling."

Haters gotta hate, trolls gotta troll, and stalkers gotta stalk.

Words Walter James Casper lives by, sadly for the idiot loser.

I was following Holly Fisher when she was tweeting about her baby's heart condition and the cruel effects of ObamaCare. She then started getting a lot of attention with her hip Hobby Lobby photo, and the left's hate just rained down after that. After her picture of the American flag, the Bible, and her rifle, leftists went full DEFCON on this sweet lady, and Walter James Casper responded with some faux denunciation of the prog demons, then spewed that whatever happens to her she "deserves" it. Casper's an evil man (a scourge chronicled here for years). He could have just respected the woman's right to speak her mind. He could have just denounced leftist hate and left it at that. But no, demonic Casper had to cast his hateful spell on the woman and her child, wishing bad omens on her, saying that she deserved the hate.

Casper's number is up. Folks have him pegged. He needs to watch his back. Word is folks are tired of the trolling. Mastic's on the map, if you know what I'm saying yo.

Rick Perry: Obama Doesn't Care About Border Security (VIDEO)

Governor Perry's seeing his star rise amid the border invasion, and I'm glad he's taking a stand against Rand Paul and the isolationists on foreign policy.

And from yesterday's Washington Post, from Governor Perry, "Isolationist policies make the threat of terrorism even greater":
As a veteran, and as a governor who has supported Texas National Guard deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, I can understand the emotions behind isolationism. Many people are tired of war, and the urge to pull back is a natural, human reaction. Unfortunately, we live in a world where isolationist policies would only endanger our national security even further.

That’s why it’s disheartening to hear fellow Republicans, such as Sen. Rand Paul (Ky.), suggest that our nation should ignore what’s happening in Iraq. The main problem with this argument is that it means ignoring the profound threat that the group now calling itself the Islamic State poses to the United States and the world.

Blockbuster! Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman Rails Against Secrecy, Tyranny of Obama's Illegal Alien Invasion

At the Wall Street Journal, "Governor Vexed With Secrecy in Sending Illegal Immigrants to Nebraska: Federal Government Says It Is Just Following the Law" (at Google):
NASHVILLE, Tenn.—In a sign of the far-reaching impact of the U.S. immigration crisis and its political fallout, Nebraska's governor says 200 children who entered the country illegally were sent to his state this week without warning and that federal officials are refusing to identify them or their locations.

Gov. Dave Heineman, a Republican, said federal officials also wouldn't answer questions about public school attendance by the children and the potential costs to taxpayers.

"Governors and mayors have the right to know when the federal government is transporting a large group of individuals, in this case illegal immigrants, into your state," Mr. Heineman told The Wall Street Journal in an interview on Saturday. "We need to know who they are, and so far, they are saying they're not going to give us that information."

An Obama administration official on Saturday said the Central American children now in Nebraska aren't at a facility but are being housed with family members and sponsors while they await immigration proceedings. Some of the children arrived in the recent border surge, while others came earlier in the year.

Mr. Heineman's complaint comes at a time when the federal government is contending with protests against the placement of illegal-immigrant children in other communities. Protesters in Murrieta, Calif., north of San Diego, have turned away buses carrying migrants, mostly women and children from Central America, to a U.S. Border Patrol station.

–The immigrant children are part of a deluge of tens of thousands of minors fleeing strife in Central America, a situation leading President Barack Obama to ask Congress for $3.7 billion in emergency funds. More than 52,000 unaccompanied minors crossed the border into the U.S. during the first nine months of the fiscal year that began in October, and officials expect the total to reach 90,000 by the autumn.

The border crossings are a top concern among state officials gathered here for a National Governors Association meeting and a reminder, they say, that Congress's failure to overhaul immigration laws puts heavy burdens on the states.

Mr. Heineman said he raised the issue privately with Vice President Joe Biden after Mr. Biden spoke on Friday to the governors association. Mr. Biden's office declined to comment on Saturday.

The Republican Governors Association is alerting members about the transfer of children to Nebraska, highlighting the issue at a time when Mr. Obama is already facing criticism for failing to visit the border during a fundraising trip last week to Texas.

"There are concerns that this type of activity—placing children in locations across the country—is occurring throughout the United States, and information is not being shared appropriately with states," the Republican Governors Association policy director, Marie Thomas Sanderson, wrote in an email to members on Friday and viewed by the Journal.

Will Jenkins, a spokesman for the Department of Health and Human Services, which is overseeing the immigrant children, said the health and human services department is required to protect the privacy of unaccompanied children and keep their personal information confidential.

"Federal law requires that HHS feed, shelter and provide medical care for unaccompanied children until it is able to place them in safe settings with family members or sponsors while they await immigration proceedings," he said in a written statement. "These family members and sponsors live in many states, including Nebraska."
Right.

VIDEO: Central American Illegals to be 'Warehoused' in City of Bell — Literally!

Yes, because warehousing human beings is so "compassionate."

At KABC-TV 7 Los Angeles, "BELL CONSIDERING OPENING SHELTER FOR IMMIGRANT CHILDREN":
A warehouse in Bell may soon be revived to serve as a temporary shelter for children caught crossing the border illegally.
Watch it at the link.

And the report claims that the illegal aliens are to be deported after one month, but if they're from Central America, as current law stands, they won't be. They're entitled to deportation hearings and the appeals process can drag out for years. By that time, of course, these aliens are fully integrated into American society. They're not going to be deported.

Anchor Baby Aliens: Surge of Central American Illegals Includes Pregnant Teenage Mothers

Yes, because the open-borders Democrats are all "compassionate."

This is horrible. No pregnant teenager should be making this trek, to say nothing of the thousands of children risking their lives because of craven Democrat Party electoral politics.

And once these teenage aliens arrive in the U.S, a child born here automatically becomes a U.S. citizen.

At BuzzFeed, "Surge of Undocumented Minors Includes Pregnant Mothers":
Under the 14th Amendment their children will be American citizens if they are born in the United States. It is unclear whether the mothers — and their children — will be deported. Wolfe did not respond to multiple requests for comment on that issue, and White House spokesman Josh Earnest did not respond to a request for comment Saturday.

McCain-Flake Immigration Bill Would Accelerate Deportations of Illegals - #SecureTheBorder

At the Arizona Republic, "McCain, Salmon bills aim to speed immigrant removals":

Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake and Rep. Matt Salmon are moving forward with bills to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis at the border.

McCain and Flake, both Arizona Republicans, are set to introduce legislation in the Senate that would amend a 2008 law to make it easier for the United States to repatriate unaccompanied immigrant children to non-contiguous countries such as El Salvador, Guatemala and Honduras. Most of the tens of thousands of kids who have crossed the U.S. border since October have come from the three Central American nations.

#Murrieta Disses Patriots, Hires Latino Supremacist Xavier Hermosillo as 'Crisis Management Advisor'

Following-up from Monday, "VIDEO: Craven #Murrieta Officials Throw Patriot Protesters Under the Bus — #BorderInvasion."

Hermosillo, a long-time Hispanic activist in Los Angeles, once crowed about the city's growing Latino presence:
"We are taking (the city) house by house . . . block by block." His advice: "Better wake up and smell the refried beans."
And so now it turns out Murrieta city officials have hired this supremacist hack as a "crisis management advisor."

At the Riverside Press-Enterprise, "MURRIETA: City hires a crisis management adviser":
As Murrieta Mayor Alan Long watched a pro-migrant demonstration outside City Hall on Wednesday night, he had an adviser at his side – a crisis management adviser.

Xavier Hermosillo said he has been assisting Long with a busy schedule of media interviews. It’s no mystery why Hermosillo’s services are needed.

Since angry anti-illegal immigration protesters at the Murrieta U.S. Border Patrol Station turned away a convoy of buses carrying migrants flown in from Texas July 1, the city in general and the mayor, in particular, have been criticized in the national – even international – media. Some have accused Long of encouraging protesters to thwart the buses.

Immigration activists at Wednesday night’s demonstration, too, blamed city officials for failing to make way for the convoy.

Though Border Patrol officials announced this week that they had halted flights of migrants from Texas, on Friday a handful of illegal immigration critics were still camped out in front of the Border Patrol station.

Assistant City Manager Kim Summers said in an email that Hermosillo contacted the city to offer help reaching out to the Spanish-speaking media, offering his services at a “deeply discounted rate.”

“He has much more experience in that arena than we do,” Summers wrote. “It was important that we get the message out to the Spanish-speaking public that our job is to keep the peace and that the vast majority of protesters are not our citizens but activists from all over.”

Long said he has been dismayed by the negative portrayal of Murrieta in the national media.

“The unfortunate part is, the side of the community no one’s seeing is what we’re really known for. We’re a compassionate, giving city,” Long said.
Long's a dolt. The dude should pay less attention to the leftist media and more to American public opinion, "Poll: Three in Five Americans Say Illegal Aliens Should Be Deported — #BorderInvasion."

Surge From the South: Crime-Ridden Neighborhoods in Central America Send Rising Flow of Illegals to U.S.

Keep in mind, crime, poverty and unrest are not unique to Central America, although it's sad that the Obama open-borders Democrats have validated rumors of easy passage to the United States. It's not easy. It's dangerous, with children risking violent rape and death to make the trek. But Democrats don't care as long as they can ensure a crop of illegal aliens to fill voting rolls in future elections.

At the Wall Street Journal, "Hondurans in Dire Straits Pulled North by Rumors" (at Google):

Mara Salvatrucha photo gang-10_zpsa5ba397c.jpg
SAN PEDRO SULA, Honduras—Busloads of deportees from Mexico roll into this industrial city near Central America's Caribbean coast three afternoons a week, disgorging hundreds of women and children who had striven and failed to leave desolate lives behind.

The poor, violent neighborhoods of San Pedro Sula have led Central America in a surge of unaccompanied minors traveling illegally to the U.S., according to the Department of Homeland Security. U.S. Border Patrol agents have detained more than 52,000 children since October, creating a humanitarian crisis and sparking a bitter debate in Washington about the reasons for the exodus and how to stop it.

President Barack Obama has asked Congress for $3.7 billion in funding to stanch the flow with tougher border enforcement, faster deportations and more effective warnings to would-be migrants that they have little chance of staying in the U.S. Mexico has stepped up enforcement on its own southern border, and Honduras and other Central American governments have begun to actively discourage children from setting out.

The success of those efforts hinges on whether people on the meaner streets of cities such as San Pedro now judge the journey north futile or still worth a chance. Early indications from migrants and community activists in this city—one of the world's most crime-ridden—suggest the efforts will fall short.

"We are going to think about it for two or three months and then probably try again," Edras Pineda, a sparrow-like 17-year-old, said recently to the nods of half a dozen other teen deportees at a government reception center here.

"You study and study and there isn't any work," said Mr. Pineda, who set off for the north with a friend from their farm town as soon as school recessed in June.

Lenient handling of unaccompanied minors dictated by a 2008 U.S. law fed rumors earlier this year—spread by gossiping neighbors and business-seeking smugglers alike—that minors traveling alone, or with an adult, can somehow obtain a permit to stay in the U.S. In fact, such permits don't exist. But because the flood of minors has overwhelmed immigration courts, some minors are being released to relatives already in the U.S. to await hearings months, sometimes years, away.

"I believed it would be easy for my son to obtain papers in the North. It wasn't true," reads a poster being distributed in Central America as part of the new U.S. campaign to dispel that notion. "Our children are our future. Let's protect them."

Past information campaigns—by the U.S. and Mexican governments as well as private and public aid groups—have similarly warned of the danger of illegally migrating. They have had scant impact, said Salvador GutiĂ©rrez, an official with the Central America regional office of the International Organization for Migration in San JosĂ©, Costa Rica.

"As long as the economic and violence situation doesn't change, it's going to be very difficult," Mr. Gutiérrez said of hopes of immediately stopping the flow of minors.

"The impact on migrants is going to be very limited."

Mr. Gutierrez said his organization believes the rush to the border was sparked by a rumor that began in Guatemala and spread quickly through Central America. Such rumors have arisen in the past and have taken months or even years to debunk, he said.

Right, what's dangerous is the unchecked flood of aliens which shows no sign of abating anytime soon, thanks to the Obama open-borders Democrats.

Scandal-Plagued City of Bell, California, Plans to House Diseased Central American Illegal Aliens

One of the most corrupt cities in America, with a large illegal alien population, the City of Bell plans to provide sanctuary for the teeming masses of illegal aliens flooding into the United States.

And notice the spin on this report at the Los Angeles Times below, positively portraying scandal-plagued Bell, while smearing Murrieta as "uncaring." Just yesterday the jail sentence was announced for former Bell Councilman George Mirabal, who could be out in weeks. Citizens interviewed on the local news last night were livid with this travesty of justice, saying that the Bell convicts should do extended prison terms.

And here comes the Hispanic Mayor of Bell, Nestor Valencia, who himself came here as a scum-sucking illegal immigrant, with plans to provide housing to waves of criminal, diseased illegals shipped to Southern California.

See, "Bell plans to shelter immigration detainees":

Bell Scandal photo download2_zps4acc594c.jpg
Nestor Valencia was 4 years old when he boarded a white van filled with piñatas and entered the United States illegally from Mexico.

Now the mayor of Bell, he sees a little of himself in the thousands of children arriving at the U.S. border and entering detention facilities.

Valencia and other officials in the largely immigrant city are now working with the Salvation Army to create a temporary shelter for detainees who were part of a huge surge of Central American children crossing the border.

"My senses tell me this is the right thing to do," said Valencia, 49. "We're not a rich community, but we are wealthy in compassion and humanitarian."

The reaction in Bell is a marked contrast to Murrieta, where last week hundreds of protesters blocked buses trying to move detainees into a facility in the Riverside County city.

The protesters said they didn't want the detainees in their city, expressing concerns over security and diseases.

While the standoff generated national headlines, the reaction has been far less hostile in other parts of Southern California. The region has the largest population of Latin American immigrants in the country, and some residents feel a kinship with the plight of children.

The city of Coachella last week began taking in donations of food and supplies to send to children at its City Hall and Fire Department. On Tuesday, the city filled a U-Haul truck with donations for a shelter home in the Imperial County.

Councilman Steven Hernandez said he was heartened by the generosity, noting that neighboring Palm Springs has joined in the donation drive.

"We certainly understand the dynamics when it comes to people wanting to better their lives," Hernandez said. "Our city is 98% Latino. We have a lot of similar stories."
Bell cannot afford the influx. Even the mayor confesses so. But the Obama administration plans to continue the flood of illegals into the country, and pretty soon law-abiding patriot citizen households will be forced to feed, clothe, and housing the illegals from Central America. It's for the Democrat Party fatherland!

Poll: Three in Five Americans Say Illegal Aliens Should Be Deported — #BorderInvasion

Less than one-third said that illegal aliens should be able to "stay and become citizens," obviously the responses of the far-left reconquista hordes of the socialist/Democrat Party base.

At IBD, "Big Majority Favors Sending Alien Minors Home":

Mara Salvatrucha photo gang-10_zpsa5ba397c.jpg
Three in five Americans say the tens of thousands of minors who have crossed the border "should be ordered to leave the U.S." What about that do the Congress and president not understand?

The latest IBD/TIPP Poll, conducted June 24 to 29, asked those Americans who are following the story what to do about the influx of unaccompanied minors. Those saying that the government should order them to leave totaled 60%.

Breaking that sizeable majority down, 64% of independents wanted the minors sent home, as did 40% of Democrats and 80% of Republicans. There were 879 Americans surveyed in all.

Those who think the children "should be allowed to stay in the U.S. and eventually become citizens" totaled just 28%. Forty-six percent of Democrats thought they should stay and move toward citizenship; so did 24% of independents and 14% of Republicans. Ten percent of all people polled weren't sure.

The findings reflect a widespread recognition that the border is undergoing an unprecedented crisis as our immigration system fails to function as intended under the law.

But can we do something about it? Sure, says Sen. Ron Johnson, R-Wis. Instead of throwing $3.7 billion in emergency funds at the problem, as President Obama wants, the government could "buy a plane ticket, put them up in a hotel room, get them some good meals" and spend only about "$1,000 per child," or roughly $57 million.

Illegal Alien Amnesty Fizzles as Campaign Issue for Open-Borders Democrats — #Secure the Border

It's not looking good for the Democrat La Raza open-borders traitors.

At the Hill, "Immigration reform fizzles as campaign issue for Democrats":

Immigration reform has fizzled as an issue for Democrats, who are barely mentioning it on the campaign trail despite making the issue their top domestic priority in 2013 and 2014.

Latino voters, who are the most energized about overhauling the nation’s immigration laws, will have little impact on the battle for control of the Senate, with the possible exception of Sen. Mark Udall’s (D) race in Colorado.

White working-class voters will play a more important role in the midterm election compared to the 2012 presidential election.

They are not energized by immigration reform. Instead, they are concerned about downward pressure on wages, which the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has linked to higher immigration levels.

Coincidently, President Obama’s support among white voters without college degrees has steadily eroded.

Democratic strategists admit their party’s record on immigration reform will do little to help candidates this year, although they predict it could be a potent weapon in the 2016 presidential election. “In light of turnout models it’s probably not as strong an issue as it would be in presidential years,” said Steve Jarding, a Democratic strategist and former advisor to several senators from conservative leaning states such as former Sen. John Edwards (D-N.C.).

“I still think Democrats have fumbled this issue because they allow the issue to be played on Republican terms,” he said. “Republicans are trying to suggest immigration is the reason wages are suppressed and it’s a racial issue.

I don’t like it. That’s what they’re doing cynically. They’re saying when you get immigration, you suppress the wages of non-immigrants, i.e. white people.”

U.S. Border Agent Hector Garza: Obama Administration Completing Human 'Smuggling Cycle...'

A devastating interview with Border Patrol Agent Hector Garza, with Sean Hannity last night, "Border patrol agent details immigration crisis."

The full transcript and video is at the link. Garza indicates that criminal migrants are coming from countries such as Afghanistan and Syria (facilitating the growth of home-grow terror cells in the homeland), and that the Obama White House has made it easier for human traffickers to smuggle aliens into the United States.

Just devastating.

#Murrieta Mayor Alan Long: Illegal Alien Offloads Cost City $50 Thousand in Police Overtime

At the Los Angeles Times, "Murrieta's budget and image take a hit from immigration protests":

When it all blows over, Murrieta Mayor Alan Long says he might send the White House a bill.

Since July 1, when protesters turned away three buses of immigrant women and children scheduled to be processed in a local Border Patrol facility, Murrieta has become a focus of the debate over what to do with the thousands of detainees who have come across the border illegally since October, mostly from Central America.

City employees have worked long hours keeping residents informed, controlling protesters lined up in front of the station and fielding media inquiries.

That is taking an economic toll, said Long. City officials estimate they’ve doled out $50,000 in overtime pay.

“It’s a concern of ours from the very beginning,” Long said. “All of the resources and costs associated. … I joked about sending a bill [to the White House]. I think I will send it just to send it but I don’t anticipate being paid.”

To deal with crowds protesting at the entrance to the Border Patrol facility last week, the city’s police department increased its active patrol to 25 officers from the usual eight, at a time of the year when many officers typically go on vacation.

Several officers worked 18-hour shifts, six more hours than their usual workdays, police chief Sean Hadden said. And more officers have been assigned to mitigate the tensions at protest sites and city meetings throughout the week, Long said.

The city also has had to call for additional help from neighboring law enforcement agencies and the Border Patrol to quell the protests.

“It’s either going to cost you in money or efficiency of your organization because you’ve got to shift resources to something other than what you’re normally doing,” Long said.

L'Oreal Fires 17-Year-Old Axelle Despiegelaere Amid Big-Game Hunting Controversy

The little lady's cute as a button, but once it came out that she's an avid big-game hunter, the L'Oreal contract was finished.

No matter if she joked on Facebook or not, the left's outrage machine would have destroyed her budding modeling career either way.

Cosmetics giant L'Oreal has severed ties with the Belgian World Cup fan who won a modelling contract after being spotted in the crowd after it emerged she is a fan of big game hunting.

Axelle Despiegelaere, 17, caught the world's attention after being photographed cheering on her national team in the Group H match against Russia - with the image widely shared online.

But L'Oreal has confirmed that the modelling contract it awarded her as a result of her new-found fame has already been cancelled after a photo emerged of the teenager posing with a rifle and a dead animal in Africa.

Left-Wing Tolerance: California Latino (La Raza) Caucus Rejects GOP Assemblyman Rocky Chavez

Democrats.

They're the most hateful, intolerant ghouls.

At LAT, "Investigation urged after Latino caucus rejects Republican lawmaker":

Shortly after he was elected, state Assemblyman Rocky Chavez took what he said was a natural step and asked to join the California Latino Legislative Caucus. The Oceanside Republican said his request last year was at first met with silence.

"When I didn't get a response, I asked what the deal was and they said that I wouldn't be allowed in," Chavez said. "They do not allow Republicans to be part of the group."

That rejection has sparked debate in and out of the Legislature about the diversity of opinion in Latino politics and whether taxpayers should be supporting legislative caucuses that have a partisan agenda.

The discussion comes at a time when the 24-member Latino Legislative Caucus has become a major force in the Capitol, racking up a series of victories, including approval of new laws providing driver's licenses and college scholarships for immigrants who are in the country illegally.

Sen. Joel Anderson (R-Alpine) has asked the state attorney general to investigate the group and its membership policies.

"The name Latino Caucus is intentionally misleading, because it implies equal access for all Latino legislators," Anderson said. "Using taxpayer-sourced, public funds to deny them their voice is wrong."

Chavez said his primary concern involves the restrictions on membership when the group is using taxpayer resources, including an office in the Legislative Office Building, two staff members and a spot on the official state Legislature website.

"I think it should be inclusive in that case," he said. Sen. Ricardo Lara (D-Bell Gardens), the caucus chairman, said there is nothing improper about the caucus' membership policies, which have been in place since the caucus was founded 40 years ago by five Democratic lawmakers.

"It's not that there is no precedence for this," Lara said."You have a Republican Caucus and a Democratic Caucus that have staff."

The official state website says the caucus exists "to identify key issues affecting Latinos and develop avenues to empower the Latino community throughout California."

Lara said he designates two members of his personal staff to help coordinate caucus activities. Political work is paid for by the caucus' political action committee, not taxpayer funds, said Roger Salazar, a caucus spokesman. He said the monthly caucus meetings are at a site away from state offices "because in addition to policy discussions, there are also political discussions."

The caucus has been in the news lately not only for its legislative victories but also because of controversy.
You think?

Democrats are racist and discriminatory. No different than the Aztlán open-borders brownshirts. Seriously.

Oh, and did I mention the most hateful and intolerant ghouls.

Generational Shift as Jewish Youth in Israel Express Distinct Anti-Arab Attitudes

Well, perhaps most of their parents held out some naively optimistic hope for peace. The younger set's clearly lost it.

At the New York Times, "Killing of Palestinian Youth Puts an Israeli Focus on Extremism":
Rabbi Yoel Bin Nun, a resident of the Israeli settlement of Alon Shvut, spoke about the dangers of fear and “existential anxiety,” because “hate comes from fear.” Addressing Jews who call for revenge, he said, “Your hate is fear, it is weakness, it is an achievement for the enemy.”

Tamir Lion, an anthropologist who studies youth, said he was troubled by the changing attitudes among Israel’s young people. For many years, Mr. Lion interviewed soldiers about why they chose to enter combat units. “The answers,” he said on Israel Radio, “were always about the challenge, to show I could make it, the prestige involved.”

That began to change in 2000, he said. “I started to get answers — not a lot, but some — like: ‘To kill Arabs.’ The first time I heard it, it was at the time of the large terror attacks, and since then it has not stopped.”

A generation has grown up in a period of Israeli-Palestinian conflict, with suicide bombs and military incursions, rocket fire and airstrikes. Young people on both sides may think about the other more as an enemy than as a neighbor.
Whatever the cause, the murders have been condemned by Israelis across the board. In contrast, when Israelis are murdered by Palestinians, it's three-fingered salutes and cake-baking celebrations all around.

Few Central American Illegals Will Ever Be Sent Back Home — #BorderInvasion

Of course not.

Rebecca Martinez can get f-ked sideways by a Brazilian drug gang, the freakin' idiot.

"Oh but it's only true if it's reseeeaaarrrcchh!!!"

Screw that open-borders skank.

At the Wall Street Journal, "Few Children Are Deported: Clogged Courts Mean Young Migrants Face Low Odds of Being Sent Back Home" (at Google):
Thousands of children from Central America are undertaking a perilous journey to the U.S. border despite warnings from the U.S. that they will be sent back. In fact, many will get to stay.

Data from immigration courts, along with interviews with the children and their advocates, show that few minors are sent home and many are able to stay for years in the U.S., if not permanently. That presents a deep challenge for President Barack Obama and lawmakers as they try to shore up an overburdened deportation system.

In fiscal year 2013, immigration judges ordered 3,525 migrant children to be deported, according to Justice Department figures. Judges allowed an additional 888 to voluntarily return home without a formal removal order.

Those figures pale in comparison with the number of children apprehended by the border patrol. In each of the last five years, at least 23,000 and as many as 47,000 juveniles have been apprehended. Those totals include Mexicans, who often are sent home without formal deportation proceedings and so may not be among those ordered removed last year.

There are many reasons children end up staying. Some see their cases linger in backlogged courts and administrative proceedings. Some win the legal right to remain in the U.S. And some ignore orders to appear in court.

Children who enter the U.S. illegally often are trying to reunite with family members or escaping gang violence and poverty. The U.S. has been overwhelmed finding shelters for them, and Mr. Obama has repeatedly said that they won't be allowed to stay. But the reality on the ground—that so few are returned to their home countries—will continue to encourage more to make the journey north, said Doris Meissner, director of the Immigration Policy Program at the nonpartisan Migration Policy Institute.

"They're here, and they're staying, and whatever else might happen to them is at least a year or more away," said Ms. Meissner, a former Immigration and Naturalization Service commissioner. "Until people's experience changes, more are going to continue to come, because they're achieving what they need: safety and reunification with their families."

Last fiscal year, immigration judges reached a decision in 6,437 juvenile cases, according to the court data. About two-thirds of the minors were ordered deported or allowed to leave the country voluntarily, and 361 were given legal status. In most other cases, the judge terminated the case, meaning the child wasn't ordered out of the U.S. but wasn't given explicit permission to stay, either.

Separate data from the Department of Homeland Security show that in fiscal 2013, about 1,600 children were actually returned to their home countries—less than half the number who were ordered removed—suggesting that some are evading deportation orders...
Oh, some are evading deportation orders?

Nah. Impossible!! Where's the reseeeaaarrrcchh?!!!

Yeah, whatever, may the odds be ever in their favor.

Senate #Dems Balk at Faster Deportations — #BorderInvasion

Of course they're balking. Democrats never wanted border enforcement in the first place.

At the Wall Street Journal, "Some Senate Democrats Balk at Faster Deportations: Securing Funding to Tackle Immigration Surge Remains Top Priority" (via Google):
WASHINGTON—Senior Senate Democrats are expressing concern that President Barack Obama's plans to speed up deportation of thousands of children crossing the southern border could hamper a careful review of the migrants' cases and potentially return them to danger back home.

Mr. Obama has asked Congress to direct $3.7 billion to deal with the surge of migrants, many of whom are Central American children and families fleeing gang violence. He has also asked for more flexibility in dealing with a 2008 trafficking law seen as slowing down the administration's response, but Mr. Obama didn't directly tie altering the law to his funding request.

While Democrats are broadly supportive of the funding request, some of them worried Thursday that changes in the law to expedite deportation of children could prevent them from getting the appropriate legal protections.

The top Democratic leaders in the House and Senate, however, didn't take a hard line on altering the law, saying their top priority is getting the funding request passed. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) said that while she would prefer not to see the law altered, "it's not a deal breaker."

Republicans including House Speaker John Boehner have said they want to change the 2008 law to expedite the process used to return many of the children to their home countries. The 2008 law, signed by President George W. Bush, aimed to protect children from human trafficking.

It requires that migrant children other than those from Mexico and Canada be placed with sponsors in the U.S. during potentially lengthy waits until the backlogged court system can hear their deportation cases.

"We're required to hold those people," said Mr. Boehner, who said Republicans "would probably want language similar to what we have with Mexico" to speed up the process.

Senate Judiciary Chairman Patrick Leahy (D., Vt.) said he would "fight tooth and nail" changes to the 2008 law. "When you have an 8- or 9-year-old girl who's being raped by gangs, that are being sent by their parents to escape that kind of violence, I'm not sure Americans really feel we should immediately send them back," he said at a Senate appropriations hearing on the president's request.

Sen. Richard Durbin of Illinois, the second-ranking Democrat in the Senate, also told reporters Thursday that he couldn't support changing the 2008 law unless he had more confidence that the children were receiving adequate legal representation and wouldn't be returned to dangerous situations.

"There's terrible poverty and violence going on and I need some assurance that there's some basic social service infrastructure there to protect them," said Mr. Durbin, who noted that he had discussed his concerns with Mr. Obama in a phone call last week.

In the Senate, a bill introduced by eight Republicans including Arizona Sens. Jeff Flake and John McCain, would enable officials to treat unaccompanied children entering from Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador—where most of the children are coming from—comparably to how they treat children from Mexico and Canada...
Treat them just like children from Mexico and Canada?

Dems don't want that --- they're loving this manufactured crisis.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection Says No More Alien Buses in SoCal — For Now...

From Tatiana Sanchez, at the San Bernardino Desert Sun, "Border officials: No more immigrant buses through Southern California":
Following a string of contentious protests and escalating tensions in Southern California, U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced Thursday it will no longer send busloads of undocumented immigrants to San Diego or El Centro.

The immigrants — mainly families and unaccompanied children from Central America — were being bused to facilities in San Diego and El Centro every three days to alleviate overwhelmed detention facilities in the Rio Grande Valley in Texas.

"It looks like with the almost 1,000 (undocumented immigrants) processed between El Centro and San Diego, for now (it) helps," said Lombardo Amaya, union president of the El Centro chapter of the National Border Patrol Council in a message to The Desert Sun. "This does not mean that we will not continue to receive more loads in the future."
They'll send more, and don't believe authorities when they claim the Murrieta protests had nothing to do with this decision.

Obama's Disgraceful Border Dodge

From Jonathan Tobin, at Commentary:
Given the opportunity to demonstrate his concern and willingness to take charge of the ongoing fiasco that has overwhelmed U.S. border resources, President Obama chose instead to resort to his favorite pastime: bashing his political opponents.

To say that the president’s decision to schedule partisan fundraising events at the same time that the Rio Grande was being stormed by thousands of illegal aliens made for bad optics is an understatement. Even Democrats have compared his decision to avoid the border like the plague to President Bush’s flyby over a Hurricane Katrina-devastated New Orleans. As I wrote yesterday, that’s a bit unfair but the injured party is Bush, not Obama.

But even if we leave aside the sterile debate about whether Obama should have gone to the border, the problem now is how the president has exacerbated an already terrible situation. His defense of his choice to stay away from the problem was worse than the decision. Saying that he wasn’t interested in “photo-ops” or “theater” rang false even to liberals who know very well that a day rarely passes when the White House isn’t staging some dog-and-pony show where he is framed by the adoring faces of supporters standing by him. Moreover, it came just after time spent in Colorado where Obama pretended to hang out with ordinary people in front of cameras and then drank beer and played pool with the governor. And when he did speak, at least tangentially about the crisis today, the event was held … wait for it … in a theater where as usual, his advance team had assembled a chorus of fans to nod, laugh, and clap in all the right places.

But what was even more outrageous was the content of his speech. Instead of a sober, presidential assessment of a genuine crisis, he gave the country partisan rhetoric. Instead of a little much-needed introspection about how his statements and policies had, albeit unintentionally, set off a human wave of illegals seeking to get into the country where they expected to be allowed to stay, he gave us more jokes about the do-nothing Republicans in Congress...
More.

The president's an asshole who cares not one whit about the illegals aliens streaming over the border. Even Democrats are calling him out, like Rep. Henry Cuellar, who felt the wrath of the White House for not toeing the collectivist, open-borders line:

Obama Feels Border Heat in Texas

At the Los Angeles Times, "Obama defends immigration policy, meets with Texas governor":

President Obama faced sharp criticism for his immigration policies here Wednesday even as the White House stepped up efforts to cope with the tens of thousands of children and teens from Central America who have poured into Texas’ Rio Grande Valley.

Obama said he was “intimately aware" of the problems on the Southwest border, telling a news conference that his administration had assigned more Border Patrol agents and deployed more surveillance than ever before to stop illegal immigration, and that it deports almost 400,000 people each year.

Pressed to explain why he isn’t visiting Border Patrol stations or detention facilities during his two-day visit to Texas, he said that Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson had visited the border five times recently “at my direction” and “then comes back to me and reports extensively everything that is taking place.”

“So there’s nothing that is taking place down there that I am not intimately aware of and briefed on,” Obama said. “This isn’t theater,” he added.

“This is a problem. I’m not interested in photo ops. I’m interested in solving the problem.”

The Catholic Church in Obama's AmeriKKKa: Co-Opted by FĂĽhrer's Regime to Bypass Law, House Criminal Aliens in California

The Church also caved to totalitarianism in the 1930s, and the outcome wasn't good.

From Ryan Lovelace, at National Review, "The Obama Administration’s Border-Crisis Plan B: Use the Catholic Church":

In order to avoid future clashes with the citizens of Murrieta, Calif., over attempts to transfer illegal immigrants there, the Obama administration has turned to an unusual bedfellow: the Catholic Church. Deacon Luis Sanchez of the Diocese of San Bernardino tells National Review Online that an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent approached the diocese on July 2, 2014, and “expressed his desire for the Church to help in helping these families reach their destination.” Since that time, he says, diocesan officials have spoken on the phone with ICE, and they held a planning meeting on Monday.

John Andrews, the diocese’s director of communications who attended the planning meeting, tells NRO that the idea is to set up “transitional centers” where volunteers and representatives from Catholic Charities would provide food, medical, and spiritual care for families who have been processed at a Border Patrol station. He says he hopes to help the people pushed out of Murrieta, and would need to accommodate 140 people arriving every three days. Andrews says he expects the centers will house mostly mothers and their children for one or two days. But if there’s a situation where a family needs to stay longer than a day or two, he says that placing illegal immigrants with a local family would represent a “very viable option.”

Obama Goes Around #Murrieta! Ships Diseased Illegals to St. Joseph's Church in Fontana, California!

Well, the Murrieta patriots are having a huge impact repelling the border invasion. Official claims of no further alien shipments proved to be bald-faced Obama lies, as reports on the ground in the Inland Empire indicate that Obama's DHS is recruiting private amnesty organizations to offload diseased alien migrants.

At NBC News Los Angeles, "SoCal Churches Provide Temporary Shelter, "Spiritual Food" for Immigrants":
An estimated 50 immigrants carrying temporary visas arrived Thursday aboard Homeland Security buses at two churches in San Bernardino County that are working with federal agencies to help the families through the immigration process.

Officials with the Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino told NBC4 Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials reached out to them in an effort to address the border crisis stemming from a wave of undocumented immigrants from Central America who have recently crossed into the United States at the Texas-Mexico border. President Barack Obama has described the situation as a "humanitarian crisis."

"As a church, we want to let them know that there are people here in the United States who love and support them, they're praying with them and for them," said John Andrews, of the Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino County. "Maybe that can give them some of that spiritual food for the next leg of their journey."
And the city issued a statement, distancing itself from the secret alien shipments:
Fontana police issued a statement on behalf of the city.

"The temporary placement of Central American Immigrants at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Fontana is a humanitarian effort on the part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino in cooperation with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE)," the statement read.

"While the City of Fontana is understanding of the issues and concerns of residents on both sides of this issue, the City has no direct control over the policies of ICE or the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Bernardino.

The City of Fontana will continue to monitor the situation for Code and Public Safety issues that may arise."

Obama Challenges Rick Perry to Rally Republicans for $3.7 Illegal Alien Slush Fund

It's all amnesty slush, not border control.

At the New York Times, "Obama Presses Perry to Rally Support for Border Funds":

DALLAS — President Obama on Wednesday directly challenged Gov. Rick Perry of Texas to rally Republicans in support of a $3.7 billion emergency measure aimed at solving the humanitarian crisis caused as thousands of Central American children have crossed the Mexican border.

The president described a frank exchange with Mr. Perry, who has been one of his most vocal critics, after their private meeting aboard the presidential helicopter and then at Dallas Love Field.

The meeting was hastily negotiated as the border crisis came to shadow Mr. Obama’s previously planned trip to Texas and Colorado to raise campaign money and talk about an improving economy.

The president said the emergency aid would address Republicans’ calls for increased border security while also providing care for the thousands of unaccompanied children who have been detained in the Rio Grande Valley. Mr. Obama suggested that election-year political maneuvering was blocking the package because Republicans see the crisis as a way to damage him and his party.

Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez Asks for State's Help with #Murrieta Migrant Situation

At the Riverside Press-Enterprise.

An interesting piece, especially in light of Douglas Gibbs' essay, "Elected Representatives Hide From Murrieta Immigration Showdown":
Alan Long, the mayor of Murrieta, has stepped up to defend his city, despite ridiculous cries by some shortsighted people that the protests give the City of Murrieta a black eye. Harry Ramos, the Mayor Pro-Tem, has spoken out in support of the efforts to protect the city by the protesters. Even Jeff Stone, the Riverside County Supervisor, at the townhall meeting a week ago, verbalized his frustration for how the federal government is acting regarding illegal immigration, accusing the White House of refusing to abide by the rule of law. However, that is where the support by elected representatives has stopped. Where is the State Assemblymembers, and State Senators? Where are the Congressmen that represent the local districts? Why have they been silent? Why aren't they out there with us on the protest site helping us turn the buses around, and sending the migrants back to where they came?

In Temecula, the Congressman that represents the local population in the United States Congress is Congressman Duncan Hunter, the son of a champion regarding the immigration issue. The son, the current member of the House of Representatives, not so much. He has been weak on the issue, and his absence only confirms that fact.

The even larger disappointment is Congressman Ken Calvert, the 42nd District representative whose office in Corona is just a quick shot down the freeway from the City of Murrieta, the second largest city in his district, second only to Corona. Where is Calvert? Why has he not made an appearance? Is the second hand information I heard true, where in a conversation, when asked about the situation in Murrieta, Congressman Ken Calvert asked helplessly, "What can I do?"

Has he fallen for the idea that Barack Obama is king, too?
A great essay.

Will Obama's Border Chaos Spark Revolution?

From Morgan Brittany, at WND:
Back on March 16, 2012, Barack Obama signed an executive order that went virtually unnoticed by the mainstream media and a majority of the America public. It was titled the National Defense Resources Preparedness Executive Order, and it completely erased any judicial oversight or due process for any action by the government deemed in the interest of national security. Previous to this executive order, on Dec. 31, 2011, the president signed into law the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), which allowed for indefinite military detention without charge or trial for the first time in our history. This would enable the current and future presidents to allow provisions and authorizations for the military to pick up and indefinitely detain people captured anywhere in the world away from any battlefield.

Supposedly, the NDAA broadens the scope and power of the federal government to fight the War on Terror, and under this law the military has the power to carry out domestic anti-terrorism operations on U.S. soil. This means it allows the detaining of U.S. citizens domestically without trial if they are considered a threat. The question then becomes: Who is a threat? Is it a member of the tea party? Someone who speaks out against Obamacare or takes issue with the administration’s policies? Someone the NSA has listened to and feels is a problem? We saw what happened with the IRS targeting – can military arrests be far behind? This idea would be considered folly except for the fact that in 2009 there was a DHS report entitled “Rightwing Extremism: Current Economic and Political Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalism and Recruitment.” It specifically stated that conservatives and the unemployed represent a clear and present danger.

Ever since the executive order of March 2012 took effect there have been massive changes in many government departments....

So when you put the pieces of this puzzle together and you see what is happening on our border, am I crazy to think that this was all a plan that has been put in motion to overwhelm the system and create anger and chaos among the American people? With the influx of illegal children surrendering to the Border Patrol, the officers can no longer protect the border because they are too busy changing diapers and tending to sick kids. They are overwhelmed and cannot feed, house or nurse these thousands of people.

This massive invasion did not just happen by accident, and it certainly didn’t take the administration by surprise. They knew. And they have known that this invasion was going to take place since January or perhaps even earlier than that. On the White House website there were advertisements for escorts needed to take 50,000-plus (illegal) immigrant children from the border to family members in this country. They knew this was going to happen. They did nothing to prepare, warned no one and just waited for the chaos to begin.

Now as these illegal children are being scattered to cities and towns in the U.S., American citizens are rising up and protesting the arriving buses by blocking the roadways and daring them to pass. Just this year at least 290,000 illegals have been transported and dumped on cities around the country, and the residents are fighting mad. Protests in Murrieta, California, were televised over the holiday weekend, but of course the mainstream media spun the story to fit their agenda. The protesters were made out to be racists, and this was fueled even more by the pro-immigration organization La Raza, which eagerly escalated the conflict. They, along with members of other anti-American organizations, fueled the fire and tried to provoke the protesters. Thankfully, there was no violence....

If Obama gets his way and the system collapses through illegal immigration or financial means, if he succeeds in confiscating our guns and ammo so that no one but the government has them, then we the people will be at their mercy, and the sad thing is that many people will welcome their control. At that point the American people will be helpless against a totalitarian state, and they will have succeeded in the full transformation of this country.
