Secrets of 'Tormented' Germanwings Pilot Coming Into Focus

This guy was all f-ked up. He'd even planned for something "spectacular' to happen, to make him famous. We'll, he's famous now. Infamous, in fact.

At the Los Angeles Times, "Germanwings copilot had health, psychological problems, reports say":

Additional evidence emerged Saturday to suggest copilot Andreas Lubitz had health issues that should have prevented him from being allowed anywhere near the controls of the Germanwings A320 Airbus that he apparently deliberately flew into a mountain in the southern Alps on Tuesday, killing all 150 people aboard.

As well as medical findings, one of the copilot’s former girlfriends came forward to tell a German newspaper that Lubitz, 27, told her, while they were dating last year, that he planned a spectacular gesture to make sure everyone would “remember” him. She described Lubitz as a “tormented” person who knew how to hide secrets.

The German newspaper Bild spoke to the young woman, identified only as Maria W, 26, and said she dated Lubitz for five months in 2014 during which time he said: “One day I will do something that will change the whole system and then everyone will know my name and remember it.

“I never knew what he meant, but now it makes sense,” the woman was quoted as saying.

She revealed that the pilot had suffered nightmares and that their relationship ended because his behavior scared her.

“At night, he would wake up and scream: 'We’re going down!'”

She said if Lubitz did indeed deliberately bring down the plane, “it is because he understood that because of his health problems, his big dream of a job at Lufthansa as captain and as a long-haul pilot was practically impossible.”

I think it’s a respectable position to say we should not allow flights from West Africa. I don’t think it’s probably very effective, because don’t just fly here from direct to Africa. They fly around the world and then come here. So, I just don’t think it’s effective, but it’s a respectable position.

But I don’t think it’s below the belt to have a feeling that the establishment or the ruling class in this country is not particularly competent. And you wouldn’t look at the way Ebola has been handled, at least so far, and say it’s been a testimony to the competence of the establishment.

And there are a lot of people who are just — we have a great social segmentation going on. And so there are a lot of people just with no contact with the people like us they see on TV giving them expert opinion about Ebola or anything else, and they just want to wave it away and they just want to pull in and trust the people they trust and that’s local.

And when the national borders seem porous and uncontrolled, they are going to react. And I think that’s a completely legitimate reaction.

The Ebola Anti-Hysteria Hysteria

People are irrational in their assessment of risks, blah, blah. Yes, we can find here and there examples of Americans overreacting to Ebola. But more in evidence has been media’s own anti-hysteria hysteria. This week a Bloomberg Radio host rudely and repeatedly (and uncharacteristically) hushed a Wall Street analyst for suggesting we still have things to learn about how the virus is transmitted. Guess what? This is true. What’s more the virus is subject to forces of natural selection, so even our broadly reliable generalizations about transmissibility are hardly written in stone.

The media, as if citing an iron law, keep telling us that (to use the New York Times formulation) “people infected with Ebola cannot spread the disease until they begin to display symptoms, and it cannot be spread through the air.”

Sorry, each clause of that sentence is subject to caveat, and the whole thought needs to be preceded with the words “government scientists believe . . . .”

Acknowledging these realities is not tantamount to saying an uncontained breakout is likely or possible in the United States. A person deliberately infected and sent among us in an act of bioterrorism wouldn’t be able to infect any sizable number of people given what we know about Ebola. The average American is in far more danger from a ham sandwich or the neighborhood salad bar. Yet much sense was spoken on PBS on Wednesday night by Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease expert at Vanderbilt University, who said: “I would like not to call it irrational. When people are just learning about something, something that they regard as a threat, and they haven’t integrated all of this information still into their thought process, their sense of anxiety obviously increases.”

Oh, so it's not irrational to worry about the spread of Ebola? And that's coming from an infectious disease expert? Well, what do you know? I thought No More Mister had laid down the final word about the Ebola hysteria, which is of course that it's all a Republican plot to make President Obola look bad just before the midterms! BREAKING: BooMan, a.k.a Martin Longman, Has Not Died!

Well, no further word on Thomas Duncan yet, although I can report that BooMan, a.k.a Martin Longman, of the Booman Tribune, has not died.

It's been totally hush-hush over there regarding Martin's condition. Steve M. has been totally discreet with the information coming out of the Booman household. But here's Martin's comments at the blog the other day:

As of about 12:30 I got my computer back and an internet connection.

So far, I've made a first-pass plow through my email and looked at what's been going on on the front-page.

I still have to wade through my Washington Monthly stuff, my Facebook and my Twitter.  Then I have to catch up on the news.

I had a bit of a health scare on the 17th and checked myself into the hospital.  I needed some R & R but I don't have any serious health issues.  I need to take better care of myself and be more careful about what I put in my body.  Beyond that, I don't really want to get into the details.

I'm sorry that I gave you all a bit of a scare, but I was pretty scared, too, and this is the price I pay for not being anonymous.

I'd like to thank everyone including especially Steve for stepping up to the plate and keeping this place humming.  How wonderful to see an old soul mate like Man Eegee come out of the woodwork to help us out!  That really brought a smile to my face. I love you, Manny.

And for everyone else who contributed, I can't thank you enough.  I truly know who my friends are.

It may take me a little bit to get back in the swing of things because I've been in a media blackout since the 17th, but I be back at full speed soon.

So, what do we make of it? My guess is that Martin went on an epic drug and alcohol binge, probably involving cocaine and various amphetamines. He checked himself into the hospital after reaching the stage where you want to jump over the railings because you can't come down. So, yeah he does "need to take better care" of himself. Again, just guessing, but no doubt if the truth were to get out it'd be pretty embarrassing.



Also, while scrolling through the updates on Martin, Steve D., a.k.a No More Mister, revealed that he's 58-years-old and bisexual. However, he's married and has remained faithful to his wife. Why it was necessary to reveal that much personal information was not stated, but with leftists identity and victimology are crucial, so Steve D. no doubt had to get his authenticity bona fides out there into the arena.

But let's face it: Either way these idiots are all messed up and consequently you can rest assured that no one takes seriously the crap they post at their blogs.

Frankly, I was just checking in on Martin to get some lulz on his "Democrats are going to hold onto the Senate" hallucinations, heh.

No doubt we'll still be seeing some of those, so all is not lost.

Obama's Betrayal of the Constitution

BERLIN — PRESIDENT OBAMA’s declaration of war against the terrorist group known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria marks a decisive break in the American constitutional tradition. Nothing attempted by his predecessor, George W. Bush, remotely compares in imperial hubris.

Mr. Bush gained explicit congressional consent for his invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. In contrast, the Obama administration has not even published a legal opinion attempting to justify the president’s assertion of unilateral war-making authority. This is because no serious opinion can be written.

This became clear when White House officials briefed reporters before Mr. Obama’s speech to the nation on Wednesday evening. They said a war against ISIS was justified by Congress’s authorization of force against Al Qaeda after the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, and that no new approval was needed.

But the 2001 authorization for the use of military force does not apply here. That resolution — scaled back from what Mr. Bush initially wanted — extended only to nations and organizations that “planned, authorized, committed or aided” the 9/11 attacks.

Mr. Obama is rightly proud of his success in killing Osama bin Laden in 2011 and dismantling the Qaeda network he built up. But it’s preposterous to suggest that a congressional vote 13 years ago can be used to legalize new bombings in Syria and additional (noncombat) forces in Iraq. In justifying earlier bombing campaigns in Yemen and Somalia, the administration’s lawyers claimed that the 2001 authorization covered terrorist groups that did not even exist back then. They said it sufficed to show that these groups were “affiliated” with Al Qaeda.

Even this was a big stretch, and it is not big enough to encompass the war on ISIS. Not only was ISIS created long after 2001, but Al Qaeda publicly disavowed it earlier this year. It is Al Qaeda’s competitor, not its affiliate.

Mr. Obama may rightly be frustrated by gridlock in Washington, but his assault on the rule of law is a devastating setback for our constitutional order. His refusal even to ask the Justice Department to provide a formal legal pretext for the war on ISIS is astonishing...

Now we have a president who simply refuses to seek congressional authorization for wars and improvises at each step along the way. I mean, Steve M. doesn't even offer the most reasonable rebuttal to Professor Ackerman, that Obama is acting under his power as commander-in-chief, with his own interpretation of presidential war powers; and that absent the large, wholesale, long-term deployment of ground troops, the president has ample authority to authorize strikes against terrorist on the basis of executive power alone.

But again, it's not about whether or not Obama has exceeded his authority. For Steve M. and other left-wing partisan hacks, it's all good as long as it's a black Muslim socialist who's pulling the strings up on Pennsylvania Avenue. The Republi-thugs are just standing in the way of the coming of leftist Heaven on Earth.

Obama Paid Too High a Price for #Bergdahl Release, Poll Finds

Yesterday, the ghoulish idiot Steve M. at No More Mister scoffed at polling data finding a plurality of 43 percent saying the Bergdahl trade was the "wrong thing to do." As with any survey, the real juice is in the questions and question wording. And when Americans have been asked to rank the prisoner swap in terms of threats to American forces in the field, the results have been devastating for the White House. Recall the Fox News poll from last week, for example, "Poll: 84 Percent Say #Bergdahl Deal Will Encourage Terrorist Groups to Seize More Soldiers."

And notice how No More Mister conveniently ignores the Pew poll findings he's blogging, on the responses from military families, which I wrote about last night, "Poll: Veteran Households Slam #Bergdahl Swap as 'Wrong Thing to Do...'" Veteran households, to say nothing of active duty military personnel, are increasingly unhappy with this commander-in-chief; and recent polls have shown that most Americans have family members who once served or are currently serving in the military, and the gap among young and old in this demographic is more likely to hurt the Democrat Party in upcoming elections, not least of which in November, where some analysts expect the Bergdahl debacle to disadvantage leftist candidates at the margins.

In any case, No More Mister just happens to be one more loony manifestations of the far-left regressive disconnect from the American mainstream on the disastrous Bergdahl treason-terror exchange.

And now we have more evidence of this out today, at CBS News, "How do Americans view the Bergdahl swap?":

Views differ by political party: most Republicans disapprove of the deal, while just over half of Democrats approve. Among those who have served in the military, 55 percent disapprove of the prisoner swap.

Most Americans -- 56 percent -- say the U.S. paid too high a price to secure Bergdahl's release. Among veterans, that figure rises to 65 percent.

Leftists have been in fits trying to deflect the fact that Sterling's a dyed-in-the-wool Beverly Hills liberal. My post on Saturday pretty much went viral, even getting picked up at National Review, "Racist Clippers Owner Donald Sterling Is a Democrat."

Now, as much as I've been hammering the precious idiot Steve M. at No More Mister, at least he's attempted to rebut the facts surrounding Sterling's disgusting Democrat Party racism, although I've still been having a ball, lol. Typically, though, Lemieux just buries his face in the muck, happy to be stroked by the racist commenters inhabiting the swamp at LGM. I'd say my commenter, Tabitha Bliss, pretty much nails it:

Of course conservatives aren't surprised to hear liberals spew such vileness in the least. We've heard it all before. I think what still does shock us is the total hypocrisy of the leftist movement in general.

I mean these people are still having a total melt-down over Bundy's (poorly stated) comments, but let's put things in perspective here. Compare & contrast the statements made by the two men & what is & what is not real bigotry & hatred becomes obvious!

Bundy's no hero at this point, but certainly his comments amounted to at most an inarticulate effort to make the case on longstanding government and Democrat indifference to the plight of black Americans. And it's widely understood that the black family as an institution is worse off today than at any time since the Civil War. Indeed, leftists are all about context, although in Bundy's case his very compassionate statements on Hispanic families have been completely swept under the rug. So yeah, despicable leftist hypocrisy all around.

This is why I push back hard against the lying leftists losers. Fortunately, I've been able to get a little traction of late, but the battle is never over. Keep smacking down leftist liars at every turn. They never stop. They're ruthless and will do anything to destroy people of decency who are thought to stand in their way.

#NBA to Investigate Clippers Owner Donald Sterling's Racist Comments

At the New York Times, "N.B.A. Is Investigating Comments Attributed to Clippers’ Owner Donald Sterling."

Interesting is the quote from the Clippers' management essentially conceding the TMZ audiotape as authentic:

In the audio recording, a person identified by TMZ as Sterling can be heard chiding a former girlfriend, identified by the website as V. Stiviano, saying he was angry that she had posted a picture on her Instagram account of herself and Johnson.

“It bothers me a lot that you want to broadcast that you’re associating with black people,” Sterling is alleged to have said. He added later in the recording, referring to her Instagram postings, that “you don’t have to have yourself with, walking with black people.”

“Don’t put him on an Instagram for the world to have to see so they have to call me. And don’t bring him to my games,” the person identified as Sterling also said. “Yeah, it bothers me a lot that you want to promo, broadcast that you’re associating with black people. Do you have to?”

Sterling’s wife sued Stiviano last month, asking for the return of cash, property, cars and other items that Sterling gave Stiviano.

The Clippers’ president, Andy Roeser, said in a statement Saturday that he was not certain whether the recording was authentic and that the club was investigating.

“Mr. Sterling is emphatic that what is reflected on that recording is not consistent with, nor does it reflect, his views, beliefs or feelings,” Roeser said in the statement. “It is the antithesis of who he is, what he believes and how he has lived his life. He feels terrible that such sentiments are being attributed to him and apologizes to anyone who might have been hurt by them.”
