Victory is the Only Option

I love this!

From the
House GOP Conference:
While President Obama and Vice President Biden continue to seek credit for "ending the combat mission" in Iraq, this video praises the contributions of our troops for helping bring greater stability and security there -- significant progress that was only made possible through a surge strategy most Democrats like the President and Vice President opposed. As the drawdown of troops in Iraq continues, House Republicans are grateful to all the men and women in uniform, as well as their families, for the courage and sacrifices they have made, and continue to make, to advance freedom abroad and strengthen our security here at home.

Anna Maria Louisa Italiano!

Man, that is a hot name!

Anne Bancroft's given name before changing it for assimilation purposes. See New York Times, "
New Life in U.S. No Longer Means New Name."

And enjoy Anne Bancroft and Dustin Hoffman in a pre-affair scene from
'The Graduate'.

Now that's gotta be the topper for this weekend's Rule 5 production!

What d'ya say friends??!!

Pathetic GDP Report Signals Death Knell for Hopenchange-Onomics

At LAT (via Memeorandum):

Photobucket

The widening consensus that the U.S. economy has slowed to a crawl will be hammered home Friday with the government's expected announcement that the nation's second-quarter growth was far more anemic than previously estimated.

Many economists believe the Commerce Department will revise its estimate of growth in gross domestic product to 1.3% or lower, down from 2.4% — a dismal performance, especially as the country struggles to rebound from recession.

A bad GDP number would cap a week's worth of troubling developments in the housing and financial markets, and ratchet up the pressure on President Obama and congressional Democrats heading into November's midterm elections.

But just as there is widespread agreement that the economy is faltering, there is also a sense that the federal government is running out of options to rebuild momentum.

"Housing is in the tank. Confidence is going down. The stock market is going down. It's hard to imagine how consumers will spend," said Sung Won Sohn, an economics professor at Cal State Channel Islands and former chief economist for Wells Fargo.

He put the probability that economic growth will slide back into negative territory — a double-dip recession — at "40% and going up."

On Thursday, the Dow Jones industrial average closed below the 10,000 benchmark on the heels of worrisome new economic reports.

The government said that while initial unemployment claims last week dipped to to 473,000, from 504,000 the week before, the four-week average still reached its highest point since November. Unemployment was at 9.5% nationally in July and higher in many states, including 14.3% in Nevada, 13.1% in Michigan and 12.3% in California.

And a mortgage trade group said that, while foreclosures overall continued to ebb, more homeowners fell behind on their payments — the second straight quarter in which that has happened. With unemployment still stubbornly high, the data suggest that foreclosures could soon ramp up again.

Those reports followed news earlier in the week that home sales had fallen to their lowest level in more than a decade, despite mortgage interest rates that are at their lowest levels in nearly 40 years.

"All the indicators at the moment are pointing in the wrong direction," said Bart van Ark, chief economist for the Conference Board, a business research group.

Hotter than Hot Air

Robert Spencer reports on the fast growing readership at Jihad Watch:
The rise in readership here at Jihad Watch indicates that there is growing dissatisfaction among the American people about the quality of reporting they're getting on jihad issues from mainstream media sources. When Keith Olbermann and Chris Matthews feature a spokesman for a Hamas-linked Muslim Brotherhood front group, without notifying their viewers about the unsavory ties of the spokesman they're featuring, and when they allow that spokesman to defame Americans who are trying to defend Constitutional freedoms and generally accepted principles of human rights, more and more people are realizing that these people are not journalists, but propagandists, and propagandists of the worst sort.

So they are turning away, in droves. And they are coming here, where the truth is told, fully and honestly and without obfuscation. With over three million unique visitors and counting, August 2010 has been our biggest month ever -- topping last month, which was our biggest month ever up to that point.
Maybe the new book had something to do with it as well.

Suhail Khan, Islamist and Terror-Enabler, Attacks Mosque Opponents as Insane Muslim Haters

Below is Suhail Khan appearing on radical leftist Rachel Maddow's show. He smears Pamela Geller, along with Frank Gaffney, Steve Emerson, and Robert Spencer, as "misfit anti-Muslim haters who couldn't make it in mainstream politics." Okay, sure. Perhaps folks might be interested in knowing that Khan's a jihadi-enabler whose father brought Ayman Al-Zawahiri to the United States to raise money for al Qaeda (recall that Zawahiri, along with Osama Bin Laden, issued a fatwa in 1998 urging Muslims to murder Americans as their Islamic duty). The guy's apparently spent most of his life attempting to break away from his family's jihadi background. But according to Gaffney, Khan still remains "a featured speaker at MSA, ISNA and CAIR events, as well as those of other problematic groups, including the California-based Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) and the Islamic Institute." (Naturally, Charles "Bigotry and Hatred" Johnson is posting this clip as "evidence" of how evil are mosque opponents --- and as usual, it's all smears and distortions and no engagement with the actual issues).

VIDEO: Michelle Malkin Slams Progressives on Muslim Cabbie Attack — Heads Explode at 'Think Progress'

I caught Michelle on Fox & Friends this morning. Awesome commentary on the radical leftists who couldn't leap fast enough at the chance to smear the "evil" right-wing for the attack on the cabbie.

She's also got a post up, "Left: The NYC Muslim cabbie stabbing was right-wing ISLAMOPHOBIA!…oh, wait a minute…"

And apparently Michelle's struck a nerve.
Think Progress is all up in arms, to say nothing of the vile commenters there. The second and third set of comments begin at #37 and #49:
  1. eyeswideopen1 says:

Petty doesn’t begin to describe this little food fight you guys are having with Faux. Who gives a flying f**k what commenters post.

The nutjobs on the right wing sites say things 10 times as bad!

  2. Badmoodman says:

Malkin Indicts TP For Our Commenters, But Disclaims ‘All Liability’ From Her Own Blog’s Comments

    – - Wingnuts aren’t very clear on the concept of free speech rights. I’m sure Malkin approves of the racist and bigoted troll comments though.

  3. jbrantow says:

malkin, the hypocritical hate spewing anchor baby dares to call out anyone jumping to conclusions. She’s pathetic.

  4. F**k the Army (brought to you by the US Army) says:

    Malkin;
find a teabagger, and teabag him liberally.

******

  1. Creeping Death says:

So some right wing wacko finds out a cab driver is Muslim, so he slashes the cab drivers throat and in Malkin’s twisted little mind the real story is the commentary at a progressive web site?

What if a left wing wacko who happened to be a Muslim found out a cab driver was a Christian and slashed his throat, would Malkin than say that the real story is the commentary at a conservative web site?

Folks, if Malkin’s comment doesn’t show you where this country is heading, if the republicans get back in charge, nothing will.

I am actually shocked by her moronic commentary.

  2. bizarrobrain (brought to you by The Citadel of Satanic Kitten Worship and Tidy Cat) says:

Malkin Indicts TP For Our Commenters, But Disclaims ‘All Liability’ From Her Own Blog’s Comments

Sure several of us (myself included jumped to conclusions) but considering the rhetoric from Malkin’s side it was a very easy thing to do.

Though I find it pathetic that she chooses to nitpick our comments and ignores stuff like this on her own blog. This is from the article that TP linked to:

On August 25th, 2010 at 5:51 pm, Flyoverman said:
If they build it there will be blood.

[T]he bilge spewing commenters at ThinkProgress immediately indicted Newt Gingrich, Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and yes, right here it says, “Thanks Fox.”

I do believe Limbaugh, Beck and Gingrich we’re only mentioned by maybe three of the regulars, so thanks for pointing that out and it’s sad that you chose to ignore both the serious posters who were condemning the irrational bigotry coming from your side as well as the bigotry coming from pseudo-conservative trolls who were using terms like “muzz” to paint all Muslims as extremists.

  3. dasm says:

Malkin somehow misses the real point: Fox, Limbaugh, Beck, Palin, etc. actually ARE inciting hatred towards Muslims (& others)with inflamed rhetoric, lies, exaggerations, & personal attacks. They deserve to be called on it. This is their/her way of absolving themselves of ALL responsibility for the hatred & racism & violence they promote. All their vicious lies & smears are recorded, but still they deny, deny, deny. And, of course, attack others who mention it.

By commenting on my site, I do not agree that I will retain all ownership rights in what I post here and that I will relieve myself from any and all liability that may result from those postings.

New conmmenting policy for the right wing.

  3. Leaving aside her lack of decency and hypocrisy on the issue of comments on her blog, how can she look into the camera and say that the aggressive rhetoric the Right has been putting on the news over the NYC Mosque story had nothing to do with this? I mean, when you continually use incendiary rhetoric and someone finally starts a fire, how can you feel shocked when people connect the dots?

  4. radpat_insurgent says:

I swear I have crossed paths with MM while living and working in Pattaya, Thailand a few years ago, if you know what I mean?

  5. susancarrie says:

So, she gets twitchy when the chickens of their hatemongering start coming home to roost, mmmm?

Pass the bilge, TP, and keep it coming. It’s one of the best ways we have for human decency to prevail in this poor, whipsawed country. We can do it… when push comes to shove, THERE ARE STILL A LOT MORE OF US THAN OF THEM!

We just have to stop bickering, or feeling sorry for ourselves because our pet idea has been bypassed or not fully implemented, or becoming so sickened by the whole mess that we disassociate. We have to stay alert, and to prevail, unless we want to wake up some morning in THEIR world…

  6. Bob, Teabaggers Are Terrorists, wurst says:

Hi Michelle, Do you know what your fans do while they watch you on their computers? They turn down the sound, dim the lights, and tug on their pimple covered puds until their moans attracts the attention of their mothers.

  7. Xisithrus says:

does malkin understand that many of the people she is appeasing dont think she should be an american citizen?

  8. toonces (infinity plus one) says:

  12. pags2 a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chicago Democratic Party says:

It is gratifying that TP angers Malkin. Let’s keep up the good work and see who else at Fox we can annoy. If we are lucky it will be Beck.

  13. pags2 a wholly owned subsidiary of the Chicago Democratic Party says:

I would add to my comments that we should be more judicious in our posts so that Malkin cannot point to shrill comments and name calling on the blog. Otherwise it is easy to characterize TP by the worst posts.

  14. tarazan says:

Malkin is another copy of Ann Coulter.

They both make their living attacking others, and write worthless books.

Malkin is a hate writing specialist, just like Coulter.

I remember when Malkin accused Rachael Ray two years ago of being a Palestinians sympathizer ,and went further to suggest that Rachael is a terrorist sympathizer for wearing a Kaufya scar.

Something toursits buy when they go to the Middle East as a souvenir, and can be bought in many Middle Eastern shops in America.

Instead of blaming the existing Muslims hate euphoria which started by exreme Right wing elements, she instead blaming TP commenters.

The attack on Cab driver in city of NY was a result of relentless attacks on Muslims for over two months supported by networks like Fox and others, and by racist politicians like Newt Gingrich and Sarah Palin who were fueling hate.

If Malkin and her Fox network buddies cannot see the link between their hate, racism selling, and the attack on cab driver, then something indeed is wrong with their thinking.

I don’t care if the attacker is Tea Party member or not..but I know that he was motivated by the climate created by the people Malkin is defending like Gingrich,Limbuagh and yes Fox.

Fox might not have told this guy to go and attack the driver, but Fox has been telling people nationwide for months that by allowing Muslims to build their center you are allowing them to take over your country, not to forget all the scare about Sharia law and rewarding Bin Ladin…etc..etc.
Gingrich said using Cordoba’s name symbolizes conquesring of this country.

Malkin is trying to look innocent, but we got here by the words and work of these hate-mongers,who are trying to deflect accusations of having their hands full of all of this hate-mongering campaign against Mulsims.

Rev. Walter Fauntroy Attacks Tea Parties as KKK

At ABC News, "Tea Party Spells KKK, Rights Leader Says: Black Leaders Outraged Over 'Restoring Honor' Rally" (via Memeorandum):
A civil rights activist and former congressman equated the Tea Party with the Ku Klux Klan today as he blasted a conservative rally planned in Washington, D.C., this weekend.

The Rev. Walter Fauntroy, the non-voting delegate who represented the District of Columbia from 1971 to 1991, called on African-Americans to organize a "new coalition of conscience" to rebut the rally scheduled for Saturday at the Lincoln Memorial featuring Fox News pundit Glenn Beck and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.

"We are going to take on the barbarism of war, the decadence of racism, and the scourge of poverty, that the Ku Klux -- I meant to say the Tea Party," Fauntroy told a news conference today at the National Press Club. "You all forgive me, but I -- you have to use them interchangeably."
The NAACP has been an organization searching for relevance throughout the post-civil rights era. This latest "tea party racism" smear just further destroys whatever credibility the organization has left. You just cannot make unhinged allegations like this and think that rational, well-meaning Americans are going to take you seriously. The MFM will, of course, and this stuff will get wild traction across the leftosphere, but it's sick. At the clip, be sure to pay attention to David Webb of Tea Party 365. His words reflect the outrage at whatever shows of bigotry we have seen, examples that are always repudiated on the spot and the perpetrators banned from participation at tea party functions. The press just doesn't report all of this, and the racial-grievance industry only shines its beam on extremist freaks while attempting to tar millions of Americans as white supremacists.

Amazing, but I thought we already put these smears to bed.

The Left's Eliminationist Narrative

After yesterday's smackdown, Charles Johnson is doing Olympian twists and turns (safe link) to try to salvage his "right-wing bigotry and hatred" slander regarding the New York cabdriver attack. To see people like this is to witness those who inhabit another world apart from reality. It's a world that Melanie Phillips explained in The World Turned Upside Down. No truth can break them from the grips of their hatred, and those who deviate from the narrative are not just repudiated, but hounded --- even beaten --- into silence and subjugation. That's why leftists get along so well with jihadis. Their goals of ideological domination are one and the same.

William Jacobson has an awesome post on this, "
Another Failed Eliminationist Narrative" (via Glenn Reynolds):

Photobucket

Bill Sparkman. Amy Bishop. The Fort Hood Shooter. The IRS Plane Crasher. The Pentagon Shooter.

People who had nothing to do with each other in the real world. In the blogosphere, each of these people was linked by a macabre desire by the left-wing blogosphere to find a crime which fit a narrative of right wing violence inspired by talk radio, Fox News, "wingnut" bloggers, and Tea Partiers.

It's the narrative pushed by Dave Neiwart of Crooks and Liars about an "
eliminationist" radical right. You could say that Neiwart fancies himself the new Richard Hofstadter, and "eliminationist" is the new "paranoid style" in American politics.

In each case, the facts did not fit the narrative. But the narrative was pushed anyway.

Add the
Anti-Muslim Cabbie Stabber to the list. That person is Michael Enright.

The narrative which
exploded immediately in the left-wing blogosphere was that right-wing incitement related to the Corboda Mosque and Islamic Center incited Engright to stab a Muslim cab driver, after questioning the driver as to his faith. Here is a taste of the initial reaction from leading blogs ...
Check the rest of William's post for all the usual suspects.

And don't miss Michelle Malkin's entry as well, "Left: The NYC Muslim cabbie stabbing was right-wing ISLAMOPHOBIA!…oh, wait a minute…" Michelle links to a classic example from the Village Voice: "Was the Muslim Cab Driver Slashing the First “Ground Zero Mosque."

This is par for the course. Fortunately though the slanders are being debunked and their perpetrators repudiated. The November election's going to start the process of removing these freaks from power. It may well take a couple of elections, but radical leftists have badly overreached and their attempts to keep power at all costs have become increasingly extreme, even dangerous. But don't rest, friends. They're on the run and we're going to keep the pressure on. Evil will prevail only in the absence of countervailing moral power. Keep your head in the game and your eyes on the ball. But most of all get in the arena if you're on the sidelines, and give no quarter. The battle is enjoined!

Ottawa Terror Plot Reportedly Linked to Al Qaeda

At National Post, "Canadian Muslim Leaders Shocked [Shocked!] at Ottawa Arrests":

Canadian Muslim leaders were variously stunned, outraged and wary at news from Ottawa on Wednesday that the RCMP had broken up an alleged terrorism cell with suspected links to al-Qaeda.

Few details were released about the people rounded up in the bust, but they are suspected of planning a terrorist attack in the country, and authorities anticipate more arrests.

“It’s sad to hear such news. It’s disturbing,” said Imam Habeeb Alli, secretary of the Canadian Council of Imams. “It’s very disturbing, and I hope the proper wheels of justice will be set in motion to ensure we get to the bottom of the story.”

The Muslim Canadian Congress expressed “shock” at the developments, but also commended RCMP for the operation.

“Thank God these men were stopped before they could carry out their alleged plot,” said vice-president Salma Siddiqui.

The organization warned, however, that until Canada’s Muslim leadership unequivocally denounces the doctrine of armed jihad, Wednesday's terrorism arrests will not be the last. Radical figures are becoming “heroes,” Ms. Siddiqui said, and leaders in the Muslim community have a duty to diminish them.

“It’s more of an anger and a frustration,” she said of her reaction to Wednesday's arrests, “because it shouldn’t happen. This has got to stop.”

The Ottawa case is considered the most significant counterterrorism operation in Canada since the 2006 Toronto 18 arrests, which saw a group of young men rounded up for plotting to storm Parliament and decimate blocks of downtown Toronto with powerful truck bombs.
Yes! Yes!

The "moderates" denounce the terror! Well, between that and defending sharia law. Canada's got it going on with the "moderate" Muslim thingy as well.

Morning News Updates

Don't miss Melissa Clouthier's morning roundup, "A Round-Up of News to Make Your Blood Boil":
... for some reason, this story irritates me the worst. The moderates, independents, libertarians, RINOs, and trend-followers (but I repeat myself) who voted for Barack Obama are wiggling around like live bugs pinned to card-board. The latest entre is from someone I respect, but her latest post is really hard to take. Megan McArdle absolves President Obama saying, essentially, that there's nothing he can do or could have done to help the economy. Au contraire. Nothing is something he could have done and would have better than what he did do.

Instead, the great meddler, the Man Who Knows Everything, well, he's made everything worse. And it is going to get worse. You do not rape the private sector, leaving her terrified and shivering in the corner, and expect her to enjoy the company of men again and start cranking out babies any time soon. The private sector is paralyzed. They see taxation looming and cower. They see huge new commitments to workers and tremble. And that was the President's doing. His. And the leftist loons in Congress. But hey, credit where credit is due.

Say it with me lefties and weak middle of the roaders: It's Obama's Fault. Get used to it, because his actions are going to harm us for a long time.
Check also Ed Driscoll, "‘The Night the Media Took it on the Chin’."

And of course, I'll be on the lookout for the slightest inking of remorse regarding the left's rush to judgment on the New York cabbie attack.

The Left's Culture of Hate

From Dennis Prager, at FrontPage Magazine:
I recently wrote about leftists’ hatred for conservatives as people, not merely for conservative ideas. Demonization of opponents is a fundamental characteristic of the left. It is not merely tactical; they believe people on the right are bad. (Here’s a test: Ask someone on the left if active support of California Proposition 8 — retaining the man-woman definition of marriage — was an act of hate.)

A related defining characteristic of the left is the ascribing of nefarious motives to conservatives. For the left, a dismissal of conservatives’ motives is as important as is dismissal of the conservatives as people. It is close to impossible for almost anyone on the left — and I mean the elite left, not merely left-wing blogs — to say “There are good people on both of sides of this issue.” From Karl Marx to Frank Rich of The New York Times, this has always been the case.

In the left’s worldview, conservative opponents of affirmative action cannot be driven by concern for blacks — opposition is animated by racists; conservative opponents of illegal immigration are animated by racism and xenophobia; opposition to abortion is a function of sexism; President Bush went to war for oil and American imperialism; and conservative supporters of retaining man-woman marriage hate gays.

This is not true of elite conservatives. Leading conservative columnists, leading Republicans, etc., rarely depict liberals as motivated by evil. Conservatives can say “There are good people on both sides of the issue” because we actually believe it.
More at the link.

And I might add that while "liberals" may indeed be good people, I can't say the same about leftists. They simply aren't good, so always make that distinction when speaking about folks who may be Democrat and liberal and folks who may be Democrat and leftist. The latter are enemies, and I mean that will all of my being. And unfortunately, there aren't that many true liberals around on the left any more, so we've got our work cut out for us.

G-Pal, Pay-Pal — No Pals?

I recently sent an old-fashioned check to a fellow blogger who's facing a round of serious underemployment. Folks were hitting his tip jar, to much appreciation. But I asked for a land address so I could write a check. I don't use these financial transaction websites. I don't solicit tips here, for one thing, and I don't need to sign up for another website that I don't trust. (R.S. McCain vouches for Pay-Pal, but I've heard differently — remember Pamela Geller's recent experience.)

In any case, here's
an interesting testimonial on G-Pal, which is apparently friendly to gun owners (via Instapundit):
I am irritated that gPal did not notify me in advance of this known issue. If gPal was having problems transferring money, it should have been noted on the website so that people attempting to transfer funds would have been aware of the possible delay and made arrangements if the delay was unacceptable. While I cannot be 100% sure this was the case, it would appear that I only received the notification that funds were delayed because I complained. Then, when I asked for a check, again I was left in the dark that it could be weeks before it was cut due to the volume and only received it when I did because I managed to suffer through horrific, on-hold music and a voice that told me every 10 seconds how important my call was and that the wait time is now greater than it was a minute ago.

At this point and time, I cannot recommend gPal for transactions. I am not implying that they are shady, but I do get the distinct impression that they are not capable of performing the job you expect them to. Again, this is my opinion based on my single transaction with them and is not intended to claim this is what happens to everyone. Your mileage, of course, may vary.

Close Encounters of the Man-Eating Kind

My 9 year-old son was digging this viddy:

Cultural Suicide and Choosing to Live Again

From Melissa Clouthier, at Right Wing News:
I hope Americans change their hearts and see the goodness and the possibility again. I hope they live life and abundantly. I hope they renew themselves and choose life over death. The world needs a happy, good, loving America. Leave self-loathing and cultural suicide to the Europeans.
The link there goes to Elizabeth Scalia, "Hating Ourselves to Death."

And take your time.

Probing the Ground Zero Money Trail

An awesome clip:

Another 'Moderate' Ground Zero Mosque Supporter Can't Bring Himself to Call Hamas a Terrorist Organization

I don't know, but my guess is that Victory Mosque supporters aren't thinking too carefully about their viewpoints. Scroll forward to about 3:20 minutes at the clip. That's Imam Dawoud Kringle debating Andrew McCarthy on Fox Business Channel. Imam Kringle twists and turns when David Asman asks him if "Hamas is a terrorist organization?" All folks have to do is check the Hamas Charter to understand the goals of these fanatics. The tide is turning against the leftist-Islamist alliance. Imam Rauf and Daisy Khan have been exposed and their backers debunked and repudiated. Most of all the despicable JournoList national media has once again disgraced itself. We no longer have even a shred of an objective press today in the United States. Where one finds decent, fact-based reporting, free of bias, that's something to hold up to kudos and emulation. But we have to keep up with the fight. The tide is turning.

Tea Party Group Hit With Death Threats

At U.S. News:
One of Washington's principal supporters of the Tea Party movement, former GOP Majority Leader Dick Armey's FreedomWorks, has been receiving death threats and profanity-laced phone calls as it gets involved in the fall elections. The number and intensity have reached such heights that the organization is leaving its downtown location near the FBI and moving to a high-security building near the U.S. Capitol.

"FreedomWorks and Dick Armey receive dozens of threatening and harassing calls and E-mails each day. Many imply violence and use of weapons," spokesman Adam Brandon tells Whispers. "As we get closer to the election we expect the harassment to increase."

He says that FreedomWorks will hire additional security, meaning less money for its election-eve, get-out-the-vote, or GOTV, campaign. "Unfortunately, we may have to use resources for security guards that we would rather use for GOTV," he said.
And will more of the MFM report this? I mean, seriously, everybody's freakin' out, and perhaps, just maybe, the damned press will actually start reporting some of the extremism on the Democratic-left. (More freakage at Politico, "Democrats privately fear House prospects worsening," via Memeorandum.)

Murkowski Says She's Not Giving Up

The Anchorage Daily News is reporting that toppled incumbent Senator Lisa Murkowski is "optimistic the count of absentee votes will turn it around" (the website's timestamp says 5:42 PM).

But
the Alaska elections division is reporting a basically 51 to 49 percent vote favoring Palin-backed insurgent Joe Miller, with 100 percent of precincts reporting. There's 7,600 absentee ballots outstanding, and the state will continue to accept ballots "within 10 days" nationally and "within 15 days" internationally. With over 138 thousand ballots cast, Murkowski could have a chance. She would need to take the absentees by 60 percent or so, but with state electorate split so closely in the election day polling, that's probably not likely. There's more on this here and here, but Murkowski's done. No wonder she's talking about a third party bid. (And good luck with that --- besides the fact that Alaska's a "sore loser state" requiring third party candidates to file papers before the major party primaries, the main alternative would be to run as a secessionist party candidate, obviously not a mainstream option.)

Added: Checking Allahpundit's post, it turns out Murkowski might have a chance to run as a Libertarian, although that would require the current Libertarian candidate to step-aside for her.

Charles Johnson Blames Right-Wing 'Bigotry' and 'Hatred' for Leftist Non-Profit Employee's Attack on New York Muslim Cabdriver

Reliapundit's always telling me to ignore him, but I couldn't resist this one.

I tweeted this at about 9:00AM. I'm linking there to the New York Post's report, "Driver claims his throat was slashed after telling passenger he was Muslim."

And right on cue, Charles Johnson posted this (safe link) about 10:15AM:

In two more (safe link) posts, King Charles attacks both Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer (with the same old stupid guilt-by-association smears).

Obsessed much, Lizard Man? And jumpy, sheesh.

Turns out the "bigotry" of the attacker doesn't fit the radical left's "Islamophobic" narrative. The alleged attacker, Michael Enright, is an associate of a pro-Cordoba Mosque non-profit outfit, according to Ben Smith, "
Alleged Anti-Muslim Attacker Works at Pro-Park51 Group":
The alleged assailant, Michael Enright, is — according to his Facebook profile and the website of the left-leaning media organization Intersections International — a student at the School of Visual Arts and a volunteer for Intersections, which recently produced a statement of support for the Park51 project and is funded by the mainstream, liberal Collegiate Church of New York.

Intersections did not respond to two messages, and the group does not appear to be picking up the phone. Enright did not respond to a message through his Facebook account.

But this appears to be the same man: Police described Enright as a resident of Brewster, 21 years old, and an employee of an "Internet media company who had recently spent time with a combat unit in Afghanistan filming military exercises until this past May."

His Facebook picture, above, appears to show him in Afghanistan. The page describes him as a cinematographer and photographer for Intersections.

Smith links to a Little Green Footballs update, where Charles conveniently ignores (safe link) his earlier allegations against "Fox News" and "right-wing websites," and instead offers some lame dodge about how "there's no reason to believe" Enright was involved with the Cordoba Initiative.

The non-profit, Intersections, has released
a public statement.

And according to a 5:24PM EST update at New York Times:

Mr. Enright is a volunteer with Intersections International, a nonprofit that works to promote cross-cultural understanding and has spoken out in favor of the proposed Islamic cultural center near ground zero. Mr. Enright, who shuffled into court with a collared t-shirt, cargo shorts and shackles around his ankles, has also worked with veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder, Mr. Martin said.

It's now 3:00PM on the West Coast, and I don't see an update or correction at Little Green Footballs.

I know most conservatives have long written off Charles Johnson as a disturbed crank. For me, well, C.J.'s pomposity's both fascinating and funny --- frustrating too, since the MFM gives him an unbelieveable amount of coverage and credibility. And of course, while I'd never hold my breath, Charles' ignorant and unhinged rant on the cabbie attack deserves a retraction at the least. The guy's a tool.

*******

Special Note: I thank God the cabbie, Ahmed H. Sharif, a Bangladeshi immigrant, is going to be okay.
