Winter Storms Slam U.S., Tigerhawk Hits the Snow

USA Today reports on the blizzard of storms blanketing the nation, "Winter Storms Slam USA From Coast to Coast."

Meanwhile,
Tigerhawk and his family headed out into the whiteness yesterday:

More pictures at the link, and this one too.

It's raining today in Southern California, but the snow levels aren't as low as last week. Still, this is one of the more "White" Christmases we've seen in a while, and not just in around these parts.

Have a wonderful holiday dear readers, and stay warm!

Sometimes I wonder if those who long for a white Christmas are comprised of people who don't have to shovel the stuff!

It started snowing at 0830 on Friday; I closed the plant at 1200, and it was still an adventure driving the 6.8 miles home. The total snowfall was just four inches -- as measured in the Oficial Measuring Station in my backyard -- but it accumulated very quickly.

On Sunday, we got another inch of snow. Then, this morning, I arose to 8ยบ F temperatures. Not wind chills, temperatures.

Some people see snow as pretty, and some people see it as simply more work.

I'm sure it's a lot of work, but for us in SoCal, it's a winter wonder.

Have a great Christmas...

The snow turned to rain and then froze here in the Northeast. Just walking from the house to the car one must take great care because everything is a sheet of ice. Spring is still far away.

Thanks Philippe. Enjoy the holiday.

Dr.D,
We in Ohio are undergoing one of our Arctic blasts. I had the furnace guy over today to repair it. It got a little frosty in the house. Even the cats were cold. The heat feels good and the furnace guy was prompt and knowledgeable. There still are people around that are good at their jobs.

Merry Christmas to you and your family. Good Bless.

That's good news, Law and Order Teacher.

I know it's cold and stormy all over this land. I'm glad you're gettting warm. Have a Merry Christmas.

Now, I admit: were Mrs Pico and I well off enough not to have to work, and I could buy the shop on the next alley -- an old welding shop that I'd convert into a wood shop, with an overhead door big enough to bring all of the cars inside when necessary -- I'd mind the snow a lot less.

It would be nice to sit inside, with plenty of food and Mountain Dew® on hand, and watch the winter pass.

Great pictures from Tigerhawk. I have a Springer too, and he LOVES the snow!
Right now, we have about an inch on the ground, with a light ice topping. Makes for slippery walking and icy roads at night! Wishing for a white Christmas, I am one of those people who see it as pretty, but not sure we will be getting one, heard it will be a rain event here. Still, tis the season to be merry, and I plan to be just that!

Last week we had the mother of all icestorms and this Sunday we had over 30 inches of the white crap. I still haven't finished the shoveling and we are supposed to get another big dumping on X-mas day. Hey, Al Gore! Where in Heck is that Global Warming you keep talking about??

Happy Holidays everyone.
