Controversy Over Bristol Palin on 'Dancing With the Stars'

Is she getting an unfair advantage? At LAT, "'Dancing With the Stars': Blogosphere in a tizzy over Bristol Palin's advance to the finals." Plus, Erin Andrews weighs in, at ABC NEWS, "Bristol Palin Backlash: Is the Tea Party Stuffing the 'DWTS' Ballot Box?":

If we are to be honest, the answer to the question is yes. The Palinista's are voting in force. Her performance is secondary. I am oddly addicted to this show and have watched it from the beginning, she is probably the least talented dancer to make the finals.

I have only seen two early episodes of DWTS, but yes it is fair, because it's the way the show is set up. Same with American idol. The judges know the audience may not choose the best.

On AI, grandmas and their little granddaughters vote for all the youngest boys with the blonde hair and dimples (well, Archuleta has dark hair, but..). They vote over and over. Doesn't matter much whether they are the best. Everyone can vote over and over.

Of course Sarah is a big factor, but Bristol has sloughed through some very tough times, and got on with making a life for herself. She took the gig because of the money (she said) she needs for her son. She was working as an office assistant in a dentist's office.

Most of us knew Bristol would not be the best dancer, but perhaps she has tried harder than anyone else. Perhaps people think of her little boy and her brave stance for abstinence. Maybe the really like her.

Brandy is a professional. She is familiar with the stage and crowds, she has a great voice and she makes music videos.

Life isn't fair, and it's just a TV show, not a career for any of the contestants.

The Tea Party may be voting for her. Hmmmm, that would make her....A CELEBRITY! With a fan base. Like all of the others on the show. Oh, no! A conservative has a fan base!

Actually, Brandi and Max lost a lot of support. Bristol is seen as a spunky underdog, Kyle is charming, and Jennifer is, well, kick ass at twice their age and alot of "middle aged" viewer remember "Baby."

Brandi and Max never gave off the warm and fuzzy feelings that the crowd gets about the others, for whatever reason.

But, yeah, Bristol has a fan base. Just like the others do. If you don't like it, go vote.

Honestly, though, who cares who wins this show. I just watch it for the hot women dancers in the skimpy clothes....

If this show was about the best then the judges' score would carry far more weight. It is as much a judgment by the audience as to which person performs to their satisfaction and works to be the best they can be.
It is nice to know that Leftists recognize that Conservatives have an interest in the arts. One could be forgiven the belief that this is rather hypocritical on the part of the Left because the Left has ensured that some of the most vile disgusting garbage has been called art just to meet their political machinations. Can anyone say "Piss Christ," et al? They have done everything possible to affect the employment and careers of those who are not Leftists. Can any sane person look at Hollywood and not see a system that promotes ideology over talent?
I have always enjoyed dance for a variety of reasons. One being that it is one of the only form that demonstrates all of the beauty, passion, et al of the male/female relationship. I used to enjoy "So You Think You Can Dance," but it got to the point where the judges were bypassing a excellent male minority dancer to push politically correct results. One wonders how this improves the person who wins as an example of someone else desire to look good and not on their own ability. The person always knows.
This is just one more sign that the Left is losing control of the narrative in almost every arena. Much of this is their responsibility by turning every action or thing political. The left just cannot have others see those outside the cadre being seen as human beings and worst of all likable and possessing real talent.
Bristol Palin has come a long way and for a non performer and she has grown into a respectable dancer considering the venue. Do I think she is at the caliber of Jennifer Gray? No! Gray is or should be the winner on all of the things that make excellence what it should be. Though I have to admit I enjoy seeing Bristol flower as her own person.
Now is it a conspiracy? No, because I think a significant number of people like to see the underdog do well. One also has to admit that Maks does not have the most engaging personalities and the positives he has brought to Brandy's performances came with a number of glaring negatives that may have hurt her in the end.
The Left sees conspiracies everywhere because that is who they are. Real talent and ability is never respected by the Left. One cannot be a Leftist and respect individual excellence. It just cannot exist in a philosophy that seeks to make everyone the same.

Just one more point. Maks was the right person to bring Brandy into line so that she could begin to work on developing her skills as a dancer. Conversely Brandy was beginning to reign in Maks' rough edges as a person, but that did not prevent the scene where Maks whined and it was allowed to go on on the air by the female co host. No one likes a whiner, which can readily be ascertained by seeing Obama's credibility go down every time he whines.
Life happens and much of it will never be fair.........
Not to get to carried away with this, but much of this is a metaphor for what is generally happening in today's society.
