Mr. Bojangles

I used to love this song as a child, by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The song made the top-ten in 1971. I would have been ten years old. That's 39 years ago. Today's my birthday.

Happy birthday, Dr. Douglas...

Good song, too. But I'm pretty sure it was written by David Bromberg, who also (or "regardless", if I'm mistaken) does a pretty mean version of it.

(Yeah, I know... I'm a Stalinihilist or somethin'... Whatever... It's a birthday wish. Just accept it. You don't have to tell anyone I said something nice to you... It'll be our little secret.)

Jerry Jeff Walker, Repsac3. I linked above to the Wikipedia entry, which has the background. I just remember the Nitty Gritty version.

You can be a nice man when you want to. It's my birthday, so I'm not going to get into nasty blog wars.

Thanks Fish Eagle. I'm not sure how wise I am. Perhaps it's a very more battle scars from the fight.

BTW, In 71 I used to really like "Ain't No Sunshine" by Bill Withers. Yes, I was 19 and in love...

Have a happy birthday. Just a few weeks younger than President Obama. At least someone good came out of 1961.
