These pedophilia apologists endanger all children. Where is David Frum's outrage? When events like this come to light people of good will and moral righteousness have a responsibility to stand up. That is exactly what David Swindle has done. He has both my congratulations and support.
NewsRealBlog’s editors have fused high school cyber-bullying and New Left character assassination. They have relentlessly harried and pursued somebody himself only months out of his own adolescence. They bombarded him with accusations long before they did the snooping that provided their squalid evidence. They have sought to destroy a career in the midst of the worst job market for young journalists since the 1930s, all to settle a private score.

I'm not a fan of Alex Knepper. I do not consider him a friend. I neither like nor dislike him, but if I had to choose between the two I'd say I more dislike than like him. I am not here to defend or support him as he is more than capable of defending himself and certainly doesn't need my support. However, I felt compelled to comment on the outrageous stupidity illustrated in the above article.

The report provided no evidence that Knepper is attracted to pre-pubescent children aside from a few unfunny "jokes" and comments made on a forum where trolling and lewd behaviour are considered somewhat of a pasttime.
The report provided absolutely no evidence of any kind of predatory behaviour. As a sixteen year old member of the forum on which he is alleged to have made advances on teens, I have never, and know of no members who have ever, felt harassed, intimidated or otherwise objectified by Knepper, and he has never made an advance on a teen member that they or anyone else has considered inappropriate.
He is undoubtedly arrogant, opinionated and believes himself to be intellectually superior to most, if not all, of the people he encounters, and at times his aggressive behaviour in a debate may verge on bullying, but that neither makes him a bad person nor a pedophile.

First, the forum in question is most definitely NOT a "gay hookup board". Most, if not all, comments posted that offer any kind of "hookup" or solicit even email or MSN address exchanges are habitually met with the response "NOT A DATING SITE", and are often either deleted or moved to the board's "Wasteland" forum. To call the forum a "gay hookup board" demonstrates either a lack of understanding, research or intelligence.
Second, it does make a difference whether the comments were made three years ago or last week. Three years ago Mr Knepper was seventeen. Expressing an interest in teens a year or two younger than himself is hardly inappropriate at that age - unless of course you believe there should be one rule for homosexuals and one rule for heterosexuals?

There's this little thing called "the law". Check it out on wikipedia if you're unfamiliar with it. Age of consent laws exist for a reason. That reason is to protect minors from sexual exploitation. If said minor is over the age of consent, a man of twenty most definite DOES have a right to have sex with them.
Now, you may believe that legal rights and moral rights are two different things. If you say that in your opinion it is morally wrong for a twenty year old to have sex with a sixteen year old I won't argue with you. Morality is, to a large extent, subjective, so what I consider moral and you consider moral are two entirely different things. However, legally Mr Knepper did nothing wrong, legally that sixteen year old had the right to decide who he wanted to have sex with, and legally Mr Knepper was not obliged to reject the advances of said sixteen year old.
Would you have the same problem with this if it was a thirty year old man having sex with a twenty six year old woman? I sincerely doubt it. You might attempt to argue that there's a difference, that a sixteen year old lacks the maturity of a twenty-six year old. No argument there. However, if the law states that a sixteen year old is mature enough to consent to sex, any argument centred around maturity is nonsense.
I can only assume that the fact we're talking about two males is playing a role here, because I don't see any articles you've written about the morality of sixteen year old girls having sex with older men.
Either way, to call someone a pedophile for being attracted to older teens shows a remarkable degree of ignorance. I may not be a fan of Mr Knepper, but these personal attacks are immature, based on unfounded speculation, and entirely unreasonable. His behaviour may offend your moral compass, but it is legal and, for those of us who fall into the category of the "victims" you think he should be protected from, it is acceptable.
Get over it.

And you've entirely missed the point of mine. If you find it morally reprehensible that Mr Knepper, at the age of twenty, had sex with a sixteen year old, you're free to say so. You do not have the right to label him a pedophile. You do not have the right to regurgitate unfounded allegations without at least taking a few minutes to look into them for yourself. Instead of offering your own carefully considered opinion, you've simply vomited allegations made by others and mixed in your own assumptions and lies.
You've labeled a social and support forum for gay teens as a "gay hookup site". You've labeled Mr Knepper a "predator" when absolutely no evidence of predatory behaviour was presented in the original article. You throw around the word "pedophile" with no understanding as to the meaning of the word.
At least the people at NewsRealBlog took a little time to do their research before leaping to conclusions and making unfounded and unproven allegations. They get points for effort. Sorry, but points aren't awarded for idiocy.
Sorry I am just as happy to see 20 plus year old women teachers prosecuted for rape of 15 year old boys as I am to see adult males prosecuted for preying on minor children. In either case it is pedophilia and taking advantage.
