I was privileged to be a part of a panel at David Horowitz's Restoration Weekend, an annual event that brings together like-minded independent thinkers. After my presentation, two women approached me. They identified themselves as conservatives and confessed they had finally accepted that conservatives should acquiese the moral high ground to liberals and focus on their strong points - economics and limited government.
I was astounded. Here were two smart people, both businesswomen and quite successful, attending a conference that showed they were aware, educated, and in touch with the details and realities of our cultural and political civil war. And yet even they had been so brainwashed by the Left that they not only believed the Left was a moral force, they had lost touch with the power and morality of their own conservative foundation.
Here's what I told these women: It is the conservative who holds the moral high ground. The Left Elite, whether through lies or their own paralyzing groupthink, are the opposite of what they claim. Not only do they lack any sort of moral authority, but also they have desecrated the very idea of decency and values by using those ideals as slogans in their attempts to smash them into oblivion.
You must realize the Left's effort is not to gain the moral high ground, it is only to squat and defile that land once they have tricked you into leaving it. Make no mistake, their intention is not to act morally or enact decent policies or truly help the individual. It is to take the moral high ground from you so you will have no place to stand.
If Leftists can successfully make you feel as though they will take care of the moral needs of this nation (do you realize how absurd that sounds?), then you will stop daring to interfere, they hope. And when you stop interfering, when you retreat, the Left's own hypocritical inaction guarantees this nation will be condemned by their god of nihilism, narcissism, and self-hate.
But they can only do it if they can manage to make you believe the sickening lie that they have morality and decency on their side, while you are sadly lacking. It is imperative for you to know that they are working feverishly to steal your identity. They want you to believe, as the women at the conference did, that you have been usurped by better, more compassionate people.

Tammy Bruce: Conservative Moral Power
I'm reading Tammy Bruce's, The New American Revolution: Using the Power of the Individual to Save Our Nation from Extremists. I was particularly struck by this passage on the left's devilish program of moral confiscation, which needs no further comment from me:

Tammy Bruce is an interesting writer. She was a feminist who genuinely believed what she said and when the NOW failed to live up to its claims she dumped em. I call that courage of true conviction.
I enjoy listening to Tammy when she subs for Laura Ingraham, as she takes the conservative moral high ground on nearly every issue. To bad she falls so short on the abortion issue (pro-abettior). And that is what makes the above statement of hers ring kind of hollow.

Matt: Actually, I agree perfectly with you, but in her defense she attempts to ease conservative concerns about her lesbianism and her pro-choice position. So, she's at least not contradictory in that sense.
Besides, that message above is powerful and so true.
Really? This is what passes for good ideas and honest debate? Her compatriots completely concede the moral high ground to the left, so to show how stupid that is she completely claims it for the right?
You people can't seriously be claiming that you're always right and that I'm always wrong, can you? So now if I do the same thing we just decide to be nonconversive enemies for the rest of eternity? Jesus, no wonder this country is so divided.

She is correct, the liberals use "fairness", "compassion", "help the poor" etc. to claim that they are more caring. It is false.
For years the charitable giving by conservatives (money and personal time) have far exceeded donations by liberals. It is the same with moral behavior, obeying the law, paying taxes, or any actions you can find.
Liberals say nice things but then do crooked and evil things.
Yes, JBW, the left is wrong, through and through ... what more do you have to say for yourself.

Tammy Bruce speaks well of this position, but I too, have some problems with her on abortion. Her sexual preference is her own business. I do think she has some well-spoken arguments and I agree that people who give up the high ground are sorely misquided. Conservatives must remain steadfast in their moral positions and never be taken in by propaganda spouted by the MSM and others like-minded. Secularists are fond of name-calling and misrepresenting others statements.
Frankly, LOT, I didn't know Bruce was lesbian until I read the book. I'm pro-life, so her being pro-choice is bothersome, but she's speaking truth to power about the left, and that I can respect.
I have always liked Tammy Bruce because she has the courage of her convictions. I doubt that to many of us Conservatives that her lesbianism and pro-choice stand bothered us much. One can disagree with us especially if they attempt to present a well reasoned argument and attempt to see the valid comments of those who are in disagreement.
NOTE: I find it interesting that JBW restricts his site to those who agree with him or his cohorts, but keeps commenting here. Makes one wonder. Didn't read his comments just had a laugh at the fact he keeps hanging around considering his comments to Grace. Truly a troll for all reasons.
Actually JBW, as least as far as foreign affairs go, the left has been right on only one issue since WW2. And that was how to end apartheid.
On every other issue foreign or domestic the left has sounded off like angry teenagers saying LET ME DO IT, ITS MY TURN!!!
