JERUSALEM — Israel’s prime minister on Thursday gave a cool reception to President Barack Obama’s Mideast policy speech, warning a withdrawal from the West Bank wold leave Israel vulnerable to attack and setting up what could be a tense meeting at the White House.More at the link above, and from the Simon Wiesenthal Center, "Israel Should Reject a Return to 1967 'Auschwitz' Borders."
In his speech, Obama endorsed the Palestinian position on the borders of their future state, saying it should be based on Israel’s lines before the 1967 Mideast war. Israel captured the West Bank, east Jerusalem and Gaza Strip in the fighting, and the Palestinians claim those areas for their state.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas planned to convene a meeting with senior officials as soon as possible to decide on the next steps, said Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erekat.
Abbas is determined “to give President Obama’s effort and that of the international community the chance they deserve,” Erekat said.
The U.S., the international community and even past Israeli governments have endorsed a settlement based on the 1967 lines, but Obama was far more explicit than in the past. His position appeared to put him at odds with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who has not accepted the concept.
Reacting to Obama’s speech, Benjamin Netanyahu rejected a full withdrawal from the West Bank, saying the 1967 lines were “indefensible” and would leave major Jewish settlements outside Israel. Netanyahu rejects any pullout from east Jerusalem.
Netanyahu heads to the White House on Friday and said he would seek clarifications.

Yet, the bombshell in the speech is the following:So while the core issues of the conflict must be negotiated, the basis of those negotiations is clear: a viable Palestine, and a secure Israel. The United States believes that negotiations should result in two states, with permanent Palestinian borders with Israel, Jordan, and Egypt, and permanent Israeli borders with Palestine. The borders of Israel and Palestine should be based on the 1967 lines with mutually agreed swaps, so that secure and recognized borders are established for both states. The Palestinian people must have the right to govern themselves, and reach their potential, in a sovereign and contiguous state.What the president has said is essentially that rather than borders and boundaries being established as an end result of negotiations, the two states that will be created should be based on the 1967 lines, a conclusion that gives the Palestinian Authority its own desired boundaries — and takes away from Israel the necessary buffer zone it gained after the 1967 war, and from which it has been able to prevent attacks on its own people.

Netanyahu also called for the U.S. to return to the pre-1845 border and allow Mexico to re-annex Texas so that the Mexican homeland would be return to its historical and proper configuration.
"There will never be peace until the millions of Mexicans living in their historical homeland are returned to the protection of their historical government."

I am not sure how anyone could expect anything different from a man who spent 20 years in Jeremiah Wright's church. 20 years of antisemitism and anti-Americanism.
As I have said before one cannot spend most of their time around a mud puddle without getting mud on themselves. Obama was literally steeped in it.
It does make one wonder what the Left would say if a Republican or Independent spent one service in an Aryan Brotherhood church or attended a KKK rally? What pray tell is the difference?
This is just another example of Obama and his administration's incompetence, et al.
Bruce Hall does make a point that if we tried to go back to the original borders that were held by someone else there would not be a nation that currently exists that would not be taken apart. How far does one go back? At some point Israel would get back a large portion of the land involved and more before they were forcibly removed by those who want to exterminate them.
The notion that underlies most of this is so silly and inane that one wonders if these people have actually thought through the ramifications and ultimately the wars that would grow exponentially.
It does amaze me that anyone with an active brain cell who uses it could possibly think that Obama is intelligent. One cannot make the massive mistakes he does and actually think beyond the superficial.
