See Peggy Noonan, "Americans don't want to 'spike the ball.' They want to show they crossed the goal line."
Here is the fact of the age: People believe nothing. They think everything is spin and lies. The minute a government says A is true, half the people on Earth know A is a lie. And when people believe nothing, as we know, they will believe anything. We faked the moon landing, there was a second gunman in Dallas, the World Trade Center was blown up in a U.S.-Zionist conspiracy, Hitler grew old in Argentina.
There will always be people who believe conspiracy theories, and with the Internet there will be more. They are impervious to evidence. But people who care about the truth need to be armed with evidence to refute them.
Mr. Obama misunderstands all this. He tells Steve Croft Sunday on Sixty Minutes that showing photos of the dead Osama would be to "spike the football." "We don't trot this stuff out as trophies." Trophies? Who does he think we are?
It's not about pride, it's about proof. "We got him, shot him and immediately threw him in the sea" is not enough. The U.S. government should release all the evidence it has that does not compromise security. Pictures of Osama are said to be gruesome. Then get the least gruesome one and put it out. Release the DNA evidence, incriminating information found in the house, and pictures of the raid. If there was a passport under the mattress, make it public. And let the SEALs tell their story. Allow them, if they are willing and eager, to go on "Nightline," "Frontline" and "60 Minutes." If they cannot be identified or don't wish to be, put a blue dot over their faces, filter their voices, and don't use their names.
All of this should be put in one big package and released to the world. In this way you give the nation and the world data, and a lot to talk about. That talk will crowd out and diminish conspiracy theories and deather denialism.
Americans don't want to spike the ball. They just want to show they crossed the goal line.

I posted the following elswhere today, but it fits here as well:
"Many people today are reluctant to question things and speak their minds because they are terrified of being tagged with the “conspiracy kook” label, which is the exact result their accusers are looking for.
And in the case of this particular president, fear of the "racist" charge probably plays into this as well, as all through the campaign and even to this point in his presidency, many conservatives remain reluctant to be vocally critical of Obama, or even question his actions publicly.
I reserve the right to question anything my government tells me, and if that makes me a conspiracy kook in the eyes of some, then so be it.
This administration is infested with reflexive liars, and there is almost nothing I would put past them.
They may very well have taken out OBL in that raid, but I am not willing to take this administration’s word for it, and especially not this particular president’s, who has demonstrated repeatedly that his word isn’t worth a bucket of warm spit, or cold urine.
I’ll believe OBL was present and killed during that raid when I see 110% irrefutable evidence of it, not because a bunch of government employees worried about their job security tell me he was."

If not photo's can we at least have the long form death certificate.
The Left, with its constant attack on Bush, set the standard of disbelief. The Left is the originator of most of the need for a "conspiracy" to explain its failures and the success of those who disagree with them. It now cannot complain that others find Obama, who does seem to have a very large propensity toward misstatements, dissembling et al, actions questionable with good reason.
Let 's say that I am 95 percent sure that Osama is dead, primarily because of the hash the administration has made of it. A lie this big would have had been more effectively planned. Here I was going to comment that one of President Reagan's statements applies, "Trust, but verify.", but knowing the veracity of the Obama administration there will always be a lingering doubt. That plus I have more faith in our military to not be part knowingly of a con this size.
Add that the Obama administration would not VINDICATE Bush's policies in this manner even as they follow them. They had to know that almost everything that Bush did on the war on terror would get a large percent of the credit.
Over the last week I have come to believe from everything I have read that this was a political calculation and nothing else for the reasons I have previously stated in other comments.
As for caring about what the Left and the "media" thinks or says, I lost respect for anything associated with them years ago when I left the dark side.
