At Mashable, "AT&T Documentary Takes on Texting-While-Driving."
I don't text and drive. I hate that others do. Should the state prohibit it? Of course, but check with the anarcho-commies like JBW for the "nanny state" whining (and the stoned Reason-oids as well, unfortunately).

Texting and driving endangers the safety of others Don, and should be avoided for the safety of everyone directly affected by those actions.
Ingesting illicit substances inside of one's own home does not directly threaten anybody and should therefore be free from governmental control.
Ask your tea partying friends about this. Tbhey'll educate you, cupcake...
No, no stoners ever get behind the wheel of a car, right JBW? Or, smoking fat reefers doesn't impair cognitive abilities, right? Or, ... well, you get the point anarcho-fail master.
Wow, are you actually up and moderating comments right now? I mean, I'm drunk so that's my excuse...
So, what do you have to say to my retort, chief?
Sorry, buddy. I didn't refresh as quickly as I should have...
So, I assume that you're going to explain to me how people keep from driving drunk or hopped up on prescription drugs while they're all driving high on cannabis, right?
Or maybe you're going to explain to me how people should be held responsible for every financial and health related decision they make but also how their government should decide for them what exactly they can put in their own bodies?
Please, I'm dying to hear this (I'm not actually dying to hear this since I already know you're a hypocrite but I'm totally drunk and laughing at you right now so please indulge me, chief)...
People do shit all the time that impairs their judgement, Don.
Would you give your government total control over all of us to insure that nobody ever did anything stupid behind the wheel of a vehicle?
Is that the kind of world you want to live in? Or is your idea of a perfect world one in which only the things you yourself disapprove of are illegal?
Fucking hypocrite...
You can't pick and choose what policies/problems get your "nanny state" designation. You mention public safety for texting. The same applies to dope and driving.
I'm not promoting dope and driving Don, any more than I'm promoting texting and driving.
All I'm saying is that just as one can text whilst not endangering anyone else, so can one smoke cannabis or do anything else that alters their perception of reality (ie. nicotine, alcohol, caffeine, sugar, etc,) whilst also not endangering anyone else.
We decide what we're going to do and we should be the ones who take responsibility for those actions. If any one of us chooses to alter their perceptions irresponsibly, they alone should be held responsible.
I'm still amazed/amused that a supposed "conservative" like yourself hasn't yet grasped this concept of personal responsibility...
Personal responsibility? Oh, you mean like people providing for their own health care, instead of the government nationalizing 20 percent of the economy under ObamaCare? Right. You're all about personal responsibility, JBW. No hypocrisy there.
Health care reform, huh? Yeah, I'd change the subject too if I was arguing for anything as stupid as the drug war. Classic clown shoes...
Clever dodge, JBW. You want personal responsibility if it lets you get fucked up. Not for the taxpayer-funded hospital visits for OD'd dopeheads. You're such an anarcho-scum socialist, and intellectual pigmy.
Clever dodge, Don. You provide even one documented instance of someone ODing on cannabis that required a hospital visit, then I'll consider taking your argument seriously.
I have missed your imaginative name calling, I must admit.
Gateway drug, JBW.
But you keep moving away from the argument --- you're a freakin' hypocrite on personal responsibility.
Cigarettes and alcohol, Don.
You're obviously quite comfortable letting your government tell you what you are and aren't allowed to do, we just need to decide where you're going to draw the line.
You've already admitted that you and your kids aren't smart or strong enough to resist using illicit drugs without the threat of jail time, please add anything else you need to be protected from to that list so I'll know to never again try to discuss those things with you as if you were a rational adult. Thanks.
Ridicule is the last refuge of a scoundrel, JBW. You're a total hypocrite. Since when did you denounce Obama's NannyCare monstrosity. Oh, never, that's what I thought. "Rational". Right.
Go have another drink. You're smarter drunk.
Better looking, too.
This conversation was everything I expected. Cheers Don, and happy holidays.
