It's been two days now since angry conservatives hosted a series of tea parties across the country, and the fallout has some Republicans nervous.There's an inverse relationship here: The more intense is the leftist scourging of the grassroots Tea Parties, the more utterly terrified are members of the secular progressive left.
While the anti-tax sentiment of the protests may have been sincere, the images pulled from the events have often been offensive, embarrassing, or politically problematic.
It is a development that has tripped up the GOP before. The rallies outside McCain-Palin events included some of the same bile that was seen at the tea parties: charges of fascism, terrorism and other malicious criticisms leveled at Barack Obama. And it did the Republican ticket little good in its efforts to bring moderate voters to the cause.
Barack Obama's in power now, and these stupid idiots are blaming the GOP for the "mess." Newsflash! It just ain't going to fly. The "blame Bush" game's going to be as effective as arguing that "caterpiller torture" is a war crime. What a freaking joke!
These folks are utterly clueless as to what's really going on in this country. Perhaps if some ACORN cadres actually infiltrated some the the rallies leftists could get a clue. In the meanwhile, the secular progressive media Solons will continue sit on their studio throwns and say ah, look at the "astroturfed" little people. We'll get them on a DHS watchlist just for their own good ...

When it comes to the productive (finally) rising up against what has now become a tyrannical government that has been doing nothing but digging ever deeper into their pockets for the benefit of the non-productive for seven + decades now, along with the politicians themselves, the so-called enlightened among us are clueless as can be.

Dave, you and D.D. are giving them too much credit. They aren't clueless any more than DLB is clueless. The word you are looking for is dismissive. They know exactly what the movement was and is about. The strategy they are employing is designed to try to demoralize and diminish our devotion to this cause.
They (the mainstream media) and their bosses in the Government (the good folks many of the media are looking to for handouts to keep from going broke) are using the same playbook. In my estimation it was passed down from on high by dead fish (emanuel) or perhaps the cherubic Gibbs.
No one, not the President or the members of Congress that have grossly underestimated the power this movement is generating is out of touch or stupid. They are just not interested in our opinions. They have turned their backs on the Constitution and are therefore Traitors and Felons. There you go DLB. There's some better meat for you to chew on.
Here's one better: I pledge my life, my future, my blood, and my fortunes present and future to the recovery of our republic and a return to the Constitution. Better death than Tyranny. I call on the states to re-instate the Declaration of Independance and reform the Government as this one is in Material breech of the Constitution. I further call on every able bodied citizen to do the same in their states.
Be careful, someone on the left might just accuse Bush of using caterpillar torture on prisoners.

And yes, I am dismissive of the Tea Party movement because it seems to have no core values. Some may be in it for high principles, most only seem to be in it because they don't like Obama, though. That doesn't seem to be much to build a movement around.

GW brings up the media without acknowledging that News Corp (i.e. Fox), one of the largest media conglomerates in the world, was actively promoting this event. Not covering it, promoting it. So, if the movement can espouse some principles beyond hatred of Obama, I'll give them a listen. DLB, the only things I accused you of was being dismissive. Now I will add that you take things out of context just to be able to call yourself a victim. The traitors and felons I spoke of are the President and Members of Congress that tried to impose federal will on states' rights. That is in direct violation of the 10th amendment.
The core values of the Tea Party was a disagreement with the Tax and spend and tax some more policy of the federales.
The Fox news network had a half dozen talking heads out promoting this thing, but over 1000 tea parties with over 1,000,000 people is not fox.
And let me add that this was a major news story, something that only Fox seemed to recognize, everyone else in the media used it as a way to try out their frat humor. I didn't see CNN, ABC, CBS, NBC or MSNBC etc covering the tea parties in a serious manner at all.

Looked at your typical anti-war protest in recent years? From "free Palestine!" to "free Mumia!", there's always a lot of suckerfish riding along with that shark.
I attended the Hauppauge, NY Tea Party on April 15 ... and while some had secondary issues (I even ran into a Paulasite 911 Truther) our primary reason was clear: the government is overreaching, and we oppose the practice.
Keep in mind, y'all that Mr. Obama was elected by 53% of the vote -- and many of those votes were cast by those who thought he would be more moderate than his support base.
Now that his true intentions are showing, how much of that support is going to stick with him, or his party?
As a reference point, keep in mind how hard and how fast the electorate turned between 1976 and 1980 ...
... and also that many Obama voters were born after 1980, never having experienced the last applications of socialist ideology upon the American system. Once reality educates them, many will turn away from the path this Administration is starting to take us down, further eroding its support base ...
... and that of the GOP establishment. I'm hearing more and more calls for an alternative to the two parties, which I think is healthy.
These two parties have become institutions ... and the members of an institution will always look after the institution's interests first, even before the interests of those they serve.

A group of over 30 Americans, who reside in the Commonwealth of Virginia, hand delivered to their federal citizen representatives' Richmond offices a Petition for Redress of Grievances. A copy of the Petition can be found here…

The results and reactions varied by federal office. It ranged from a cordial and frank conversation about the status of our country to muffled conversations behind a bank teller window.
The bottom line is Americans deserve answers and these citizen representatives were formally asked to respond in a forum that is appropriate to reach their constituents.

On April 15th of this year, We the People posted in our local paper, the Village News, our Petition for Redress of Grievances. We addressed it to you as our citizen representatives. As this practice is protected by First Amendment, we expect your thoughtful, written response to each of our concerns.
We the People are watching and are taking steps to protect our liberty. We wanted to make sure that our citizen representatives heard our concerns loud and clear. Therefore, we decided to hand deliver our message to you such that you make no mistake about our grievances and our unwavering mandate. We are requesting the following four actions:
1.To cease and desist, effective immediately, mandates that are beyond the scope of the constitutionally delegated powers;
2.To formally and publicly recognize the natural and Constitutional rights of the American People in a manner appropriate to your branch of government;
3.To answer, point by point the questions contained herein;
4.To honor your oaths to support the Constitution or resign immediately from your positions.
We the People will continue our march toward liberty, not looking left or right, until they are heard and responded to.
The real reason liberals are bashing the Tea Party movement so hard is that they are stuck between a president who has yet to keep any of his campaign promises and a growing movement of disenfranchised Americans who are tired of being lied to. Liberals stick up for Obama because they feel they have no choice. They put him in office and so did quite a few Tea Partiers, who now regret it. So now liberals are trying desperately to paint the Tea Party movement as "jackbooted thugs who could launch another Kristallnacht at any moment."
Come on! My husband and I, both Jewish and liberal, have attended several Tea Party rallies in the past year and we never saw a single Klansman or neo-Nazi. If we did, we'd head for the exit immediately, never to return. These aren't right-wing extremists. They are a mix of liberals and conservatives who, despite their clashes on some issues, are united by the one common thread-the economy is on the ropes and no one in Washington cares.
The only pitfall the Tea Party movement needs to avoid is cozying up to Republicans, most of whom are has-beens whose political careers are behind them. This is a movement of, by and for the people. If you work for a living and pay taxes, you have a place in the Tea Party movement. If you're a politician trying to repackage him-/herself, your days of wine and roses on the taxpayer dime are numbered. Our movement is not your chance at redemption, it is your trial by fire.
