Pamela Geller has some great coverage of events, "A Failed Presidency .... And Its Only Six Months, Hundreds of Thousands On the Mall." Pics at Instapundit! And Michelle Malkin, "Update: Turnout Estimated at 2 Million."
Check also Nice Deb. And Vodkapundit has lots of pictures, with updates throughout the day (via Memeorandum). And at Newsbusters, "WaPo Presents 9-12 Event as GOP Danger, Full of 'Right-Wing Nutballs' and 'Freaks'."
The White House is trying to blow off the event. But as Jennifer Rubin notes:
I'll update from L.A. with photos later tonight! The long-term consequences of this and the preceding populist gatherings are hard to predict. We may see a more libertarian Republican party. A huge turnout for 2010 may result. New, real outsiders may enter politics. And, of course, these protests may scare the dickens out of lawmakers. But while everyone is decrying the collapse of civility and the resulting harm to the country, it is worth noting that we are witnessing a grassroots outpouring of support for limited government, the rule of law, fiscal sobriety, and generational responsibility. That must be heartening to conservatives, but more than that, it is a tribute to the vitality of our democracy and the energy of its citizenry. And that is a very good thing indeed.

Thanks!
so awesome!! Gonna post the video...thanks for the pics and vids!!! :)N
I think the report of 2 million was way overblown and it was more like 75,000 but that's pretty impressive nonetheless
I should know, because I was there today.
Complete Report and Photos Here
It was an amazing day. Tons of people and completely family-friendly. None of the vulgarity and sexual innuendos on the signs that you see at the leftist events.
Daily Mail says 2 million, and I trust them far more than the NYT:

I would suspect that the number of people attending would be somewhere between the 70K to 2M. Maybe 1.2M or a little less. Interesting that there is no attempt to add up the numbers nationwide which would be the real gauge of a growing movement.
When you can get that many people who actually work for a living vice being paid attendees to protest something real is happening. Also to see that many non violent demonstrators leave the mall in such good condition. Apparently they respect our nation's Capitol far more than those who habitually populate its environs.
An aside, Rassmusian (sp) poll had the disapprove of as still outpolling the approves. There was a 2 percent gain which as I stated will be gone by the end of this week.
It does not look like this is going to go away as the left would like and I suspect the more the left tries to denigrate common average everyday Americans the more it will grow. At some point the name calling meme backfires. You can only call people racists, et al before they figure out you lack the skill to defend your ideas. That point has been reached.
Given that there are a significant number of conservatives, independents, democrats, et al who care about the country we have an excellent chance of getting a handle on an increasingly corrupt government, under both parties, and making real change. The government works for us and not the vice.
I do not know about others, but I am getting tired of voting for the candidate who is less dangerous to the country than his opposition.
I'm going with 1 million easily at this rally - I should know I WAS THERE and DC police estimate 1-2 million.

Tom is correct. Nate Silver has the figure at around 70,000 because 2,000,000 is obviously a ludicrous estimation. Matt Kibbe, the president of FreedomWorks, lied about the ABC report and Malkin picked up the lie.
She's since admitted her mistake but I notice that Don has not admitted his. Since comment moderation has once again been enabled here we'll see if my little comment even sees the light of day. Even money says that it won't.
I have done my own study based on devised methodology and calculation which you can find it here
It's backed by evidence (pictures and clips) and determining the boundaries of the protesters and calculation of final tally derived from the density of the crowd at each given block. My calculus puts the figures around 130k up to 160k. You can review the post and let me know if there are ways I can refine the estimation.
