From The Hill, "Congressman: Same Sex Marriage Part of Push for Socialism." (Via Memeorandum.)
Well yeah! It's about time someone in power said it!
Here's this from zombietime, "Protest Against Prop. 8 Gay Marriage Ruling: San Francisco, May 26, 2009":
And remember the big International ANSWER protests last November:

The California Supreme Court upheld the bigoted Prop 8, denying same-sex couples the same rights granted to heterosexual couples. The decision is an outrage, plain and simple. No tiny, elite body of wealthy men and women should be able to decide the rights of millions of LGBT people, who suffer systematic discrimination. Let's be clear, with Prop. 8, the "people" have not spoken. The rich, right-wing religious institutions and other homophobes have tried to push an entire community back into the closet. Now, the California Supreme Court has joined them. As the politicians and courts capitulate to reaction and sell out the LGBT community, what’s needed is an independent, unified civil rights movement.Despite these temporary setbacks, we can fight back and win! The wave of same-sex marriage victories the country shows that the clock will not be turned back on this struggle. We will soon be victorious in California and everywhere. But we can't do it alone. We need to stand together with all working people--gay and straight; women and men; Black, Latino, Asian, Arab, Native, white and everyone--because the struggle must grow as big and united as possible.
Prop 8 will only be overturned through mass opposition in the streets. The demonstrations today are a step in that direction, but we can’t stop here or wait for another referendum. We must stay in the streets if we are going to win. An injury to the LGBT community is an injury to all!

The ANSWER Coalition has played a key role in the fight to overturn Prop. 8. ANSWER organized the largest pro-LGBT protest in L.A. history on Nov. 8, 2008, just days after the bigoted ballot measure passed. It's time to march once again. No matter what the outcome is, we'll march for equality until discrimination and bigotry are defeated in California and throughout the U.S. Help us raise the level struggle for equality in the streets of Southern California. Let’s build a united people’s movement against war, racism, homophobia and sexism. An injury to one is an injury to all!

Notice that this is the "struggle" for gay marriage, in the language of the workers of the world.
But get this: The lefties are up in arms!
At Raw Story, "Iowa Congressman: Same-sex Marriage 'A Purely Socialist Concept'." And at Think Progress, "King: Same-Sex Marriage Is ‘A Purely Socialist Concept’."
And what did Representative King actually say? Well ...
... if there’s a push for a socialist society, a society where the foundations of individual rights and liberties are undermined and everybody is thrown together, living collectively off of one pot of resources earned by everyone. That is, this is one of the goals they have to go to is same-sex marriage because it has to plow through marriage in order to get to their goal. They want public affirmation. They want access to public funds and resources. Eventually all those resources will be pooled because that’s the direction we’re going. And not only is it a radical social idea, it is a purely socialist concept in the final analysis.
Sounds about right to me, and given the overwhelming evidence that socialists and neo-Stalinists are the biggest proponents of gay marriage today, it looks like the outraged netroots hordes "got some 'splaining to do."
Oh, and don't miss teh stupid!! at Daily Kos.

right on.
the left wants to destroy the family and traditional institutions in order to replace them with THE STATE.
it's their gramscian agenda.
i got ZERO agaunst gays.
but i oppose the radical leftwing gay agenda.
gays can no more be married to each other than a man be marrid to a rock.
it ain't marriage.
marriage is an institution between a man and a woman.
always has been.
in the 1960's these leftstis wanted to eliminate marirage to destory it.
now they want gay marriage and soon polygamy and polyamory.
aside:
in israel, a 99 yr old granma just crossed over.
she had 1400 descendents.
that's great.
According to the Left, you'd have to be an idiot to be conservative and gay. Guilty, I guess.
Foolish me to think that individual liberty trumps society's use of the state to prevent a fundamental right to choose my life partner. Of course it doesn't, correct? I can choose to be with whomever I want, I just can demand gov recognition of that choice. So much better that society use gov as a carrot or stick to keep the masses in line.
Funny, I didn't think our Founding Fathers thought gov should be used as a carrot or stick to restrict or promote one persons liberty over another.
If I see someone wearing pants, with a short hair cut, a beard and a having a deep voice, I might apply the word, man. Taking the characteristics of a word, a definition, and applying it to the circumstances I find seems a rational thing to do.
So, when I see a loving couple, devoted to the care and long term happiness of each other, raising a child or children, contributing to the community and being beneficial members of a neighborhood, I might want to apply the word, or definition, married to them. I haven't changed the definition, I've applied it.
Now, some might argue that if my 'man' had breasts and a vagina that I was stretching my definition to fit, and you might be right. I might have to be more advanced than an child and recognize that sometimes our definitions have exceptions, not to dismiss them but to recognize the human condition is not fixed and rigid.
Normal: any system or organism that functions in the environment for which it was designed without modification.
Walking around with someone else's heart would leave you out of 'normal'.
I have long argued that the 'gay marriage activist' is doing more damage to gay marriage proponents than all the opponents combined. Most of us want marriage in all the traditional ways - we SUPPORT marriage. We are members of our communities and neighborhoods, we are caring and loving each other, we are raising children. We are no less a stabilizing influence in our community than straight couples.
There is no doubt that many on the left use socialist rhetoric and agitate for other liberal causes. I have some thoughts on that for another day.
Tracy Coyle
former Chairwoman, Executive Committee, American Conservative Party.
Tracy:
As regards your suggestion that most gay folks aspire to and support marriage in all the traditional ways (with which I agree, btw...), do you really believe that that makes you any less radical than "gay marriage activists," among those who oppose your right to unite?
Radical ideas are often the seeds of change, and over time a "radical idea" can become "everyday common sense."
I suspect it's going to take both the "out, loud, and proud" gay activist and the everyday man at the park with his kids and woman who works in the next cube over (both of whom happen to be gay) to influence enough of our fellow Americans, in elected office and out, to allow for the recognition that your sexuality doesn't make you any less of a citizen. And of course even then, some will always be left behind.
Reliapundit has it right
The push for "gay marriage" is about a lot of things, but marriage isn't one of them. As Donald and Reliapundit say, it's about state control.
The objective is not for gays to be allowed to get married so that they can life happily ever after. The objective is a radical restructuring of American society.
These leftists are the most intolerant and totalitarian people in our country today. If they get their way on this "gay marriage" issue, they will do all that they can to shut down free speech on this issue. They will force their agenda and indoctrination on children in our schools.
Look at their reaction to Prop 8. Gay black shirt thugs went after Mormons, some of the nicest people on the planet. The behavior of these thugs was a sign of how they'll behave if they get their way on this issue.
Using the state to deny same-sex couples the fundamental right of marriage doesn't sound like supporting "individual rights and liberties" to me.
You disclose your gender to the government and they tell who you can or can't marry.
Supporting same-sex marriage is a libertarian position.
Farm subsidies and price floors are socialistic.
I understand the aversion to the left - I HAVE IT. Damn near everything they touch stinks to hell. However, saying that tradition trumps individual liberty, that the society at large gets to decide whether non-infringing actions are acceptable or not is the same thing the Left wants to do - control individual behavior to conform to 'acceptable' parameters.
Want to ride your bike - wear a helmet. Want to drive your car, wear a seat belt.
