Are We Complacent About Terrorism?

The resolve of the American people to fight overseas is quickly weakening. Americans seem content to believe that our post-9/11 efforts have sufficiently weakened the enemy and therefore that their rhetoric shouldn’t be taken as seriously. Those that try to raise awareness about the threat are dismissed or even attacked, as the Christian Action Network learned after releasing its Homegrown Jihad documentary earlier this year about radical Islamic compounds in the U.S. that have been used for paramilitary training.

The government’s current attitude towards gathering threats seems to reflect a decreasing concern about terrorism and the growth of extremist networks at home. Just by being a little craftier than al-Qaeda, groups like the Muslim Brotherhood and governments like that of Khamenei and Ahmadinejad and Assad are able to appear moderate and flexible. The FBI decided to end its relationship with the Council on American-Islamic Relations following its designation as an “unindicted co-conspirator” in the Holy Land Foundation trial, only to continue ties with the Islamic Society of North America, another “unindicted co-conspirator” in the same trial.

The media and American people certainly do remember the events of 9/11 in terms of history, but the impact and lessons of 9/11 have been forgotten. On that day, we realized that enemies seeking the most horrid of goals come in different shapes and sizes, and use different strategies and tactics. By dismissing each case of terrorism and extremism as “isolated,” rather than yet another example of the reach of radical Islam in all its forms, enormous portions of the media, the government, and the American people have forgotten what 9/11 taught us. One day we will be taught again.

This video shows jumpers from the Twin Towers:

Ralph Peters has an even stronger condemnation, "Betraying Our Dead":
Eight years ago today, our homeland was attacked by fanatical Muslims inspired by Saudi Arabian bigotry. Three thousand American citizens and residents died.

We resolved that we, the People, would never forget. Then we forgot.

We've learned nothing.

Instead of cracking down on Islamist extremism, we've excused it.

Instead of killing terrorists, we free them.

Instead of relentlessly hunting Islamist madmen, we seek to appease them.

Instead of acknowledging that radical Islam is the problem, we elected a president who blames America, whose idea of freedom is the right for women to suffer in silence behind a veil -- and who counts among his mentors and friends those who damn our country or believe that our own government staged the tragedy of September 11, 2001.

The WTC jumpers were, to me at least, the most disturbing part of 9/11, as my anger turned to blind rage upon seeing those people jump and fall to their deaths.

It still bothers me to this day, as I knew two of the people who died on that God-awful day.

I have no idea if they were forced to jump or not. I actually hope they were killed when the planes hit, as that was preferable to having to contemplate a ten second ride to certain death.

This is a world in which 7th Century illiterate camel-washers, who get their rocks off strapping bombs to young children and then using them to kill innocent people, have absolutely no place.

I say kill them all and let Allah sort them out. Sadly for this world, that probably isn't going to happen, particularly now that we have nothing but pussies in what is in my mind a rogue, anti-American administration, populated by people that are more concerned with what the illiterate, primitive rag heads think than they are with defending our nation from same.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the aftermath of our next 9/11, and you had better believe there is going to be one eventually.

While, I couldn’t watch these, the answer to your question is, yes, the U.S. is complaisant about Terrorism. We are naive, and at our peril, will be faced with the fate of the Jews of 1930s if we are not mindful of our enemies, that cannot be charmed and reasoned with by a naive president. Thank you, President Obama for fulfilling the need for our first black president. You were sincere, faced with a tough economy, made some mistakes on health care in your zeal to follow through with changer… and now, black or white, let's get a person into your job that has a sense for the evil amongst us, some depth, apart from the cult of personality. We must now deal with the world at large that doesn't share our self-absorbed love of ourselves.

You all know that I don't agree on many issues with some posters here and Donald, but I hope that we agree on one issue, so I have to ask: is anyone else bothered here by Dave's cavalier endorsement of genocide?

"I say kill them all and let Allah sort them out."

I didn't elect his ass.

And Ben - it doesn't bother me a bit to kill scores and scores of islamist terrorists. Not one - tiny - bit.

Hey Grizzly,

Did Dave say that he was only going to kill the Islamist terrorists? I thought Dave was talking about killing all Muslims when he wrote:

"I say kill them all and let Allah sort them out."

At the very least, you have to agree that Dave doesn't tell us how to separate out the terrorists from the other Muslims. (Just so we're clear, I have no problems killing terrorists, but I do have problems killing innocent people.)

That said, I'm glad to hear that this isn't necessarily a call for genocide, but, to be safe, I'd like to hear what Dave has to say about this: are you for genocide, Dave?

Ben JB,

You really need to include a reading and comprehension course with the one on critical thinking. it is interesting that you know exactly what Dave meant. I can read it a number of ways.
I understand the anger at the Islamofascists that perpetrated this terrorism against innocent people and at an administration that appears to give little care except to what is politically expedient.
Your desire to attack others just to make yourself feel important does not serve you well. It is why i enjoy pointing out your deficiencies.
Oh that you felt more humanity to your fellow American, but you are a leftist.

Dennis,

I don't know exactly what Dave meant, though "I say kill them all and let Allah sort them out" does sound genocidal--it all depends on who those "all" are.

Now, even if that does sound genocidal, it might not be, which is why I asked Dave what he meant.

I'll ask you the same question in slightly different form: you and I share an abhorrence over the killing of innocent Americans, but how do you feel about the killing of innocent Muslims?

Or do you believe that there's no such thing as an "innocent Muslim"? I'm not a mind-reader Dennis, so you'll have to tell me.

Perhaps "kill them all and let Allah sort them out" was a poor choice of words, but the sentiment behind them was genuine.

When I see the millions of so-called "peaceful" Muslims I keep hearing so much about, taking to the streets in mass protest of what the liberal media and their fellow-traveling Muslim apologists keep trying to convince me are the more "extreme" elements of Islam who are carrying out these hideous acts, I might change my tune.

However, I can only interpret their deafening silence as nothing less than 100% duplicity in the actions of Islam's more "extreme" members.

Sorry, but I do not view Islam as a legitimate religion. I see it for what it is-a violent, extremely primitive political movement that is hell-bent on world domination, and willing to kill any and all who get in their way.

And that includes not just me, but everyone of you.

Islam is a cancer on this planet, and if it isn't contained, it will, at some point, devour it.

If you have become such a moral relativist that you either don't see, or chose not to see, what these so-called "peaceful" people have been really doing for the last 14 centuries, then it sucks to be you, I guess, and will suck even worse for your children and theirs.

It is crystal clear to me.

There you have it, ladies and gentlemen: Dave isn't for genocide per se, but he just doesn't see any way around it.

In fact, Dave here doesn't even seem to think it's genocide, since Islam isn't a religion, but a cancer. (Which would make Muslims cancer-cells, I suppose. What a nice bit of dehumanization you've got going on there, Dave.)

I don't think it's moral relativism to treat people like people, Dave. But thank you for making your support of genocide crystal-clear.
