Annabel Park: 'Thousands' Turned Out for March 13th 'Coffee Parties'

From Annabel Park's interview at 538:
Do you think Washington Democrats are taking you seriously?

I think last Saturday was a turning point because we had over 350 parties across the country with thousands attending. There were events in nearly every state including Wasilla, Alaska. These are real people and our movement is real. They also need to know that we are not getting to just talk. We are going to fight for representation.
Right.

I followed the "coffee parties" over the weekend, and at most we saw maybe 40 people turn out for any individual event.

Check the rest of the interview. As we've seen so many times, grassroots protests is only legit if you're a leftist.

Midnight Blue has some great screencaps and commentary on the "upstart" coffee partiers. See, "
This is War – Coffee vs. Tea."

I guess all that talk of "civility" didn't work out so great.

But hey, not giving up is Chicago Now, "
Coffee Party off to a Slow Start Maybe Another Approach Needed." Plus, late to the action is AOL News, "Liberals Hope to Stimulate Obama With Coffee Party."

She just mis-spoke, she meant 350 cups of coffee, lol

Come on. Be fair.

350 X 40 is 14,000.

That is "thousands".

Larry,
Most of these parties had less than 10 people show up....

40 was the highest number seen. Many were attended by 5 to 10. Some of those attending were TEA party people.

As Tea Party protestors are called "teabaggers" by the liberal press, I think we ought not to refer to "Coffee Party" counter-protestors as such - especially as their name does not reflect what they stand for.

We should, instead, use a name more in line with the metaphor the Tea Party protestors mean to use. Say, "King Georgists" or "royalists" or "let them eat cake" partyists.

We need not stoop to their level. But we need not accept their attempt at some sort of "parity" by insisting on the right of crooked politicians and favored NGOs to unfairly overtax us, either.

Sorry. You need to enable the flag for me.

I'm not much up of the "in" dialog--took several explanations before I got the "teabagger" thing.

Does anybody know anybody that knows a parallel term--"cakers" (heh. Speel Chooker suggests "cankers"), "georgers" or something?
