Here's this story from KABC-TV Los Angeles, "1.6M Jackson Fans Await Word on Tickets." Police are concerned. I won't be surprised if there's unrest. More at Los Angeles Times, "1.6 Million Seek Michael Jackson Memorial Tickets."
Interest is phenomenal. The event website is said to have received 500 million hits. Tickets are free. Officials are taking strict measures to prevent scalping. Along with a ticket, guests must also be wearing the red wristbands issued for registrants.
The City of Los Angeles will cover the costs for security, Los Angeles Times, "Councilwoman Says City Will Pick Up Police Costs for Michael Jackson MemorialSee also, Los Angeles Times, "Police: Michael Jackson's Family Planning Private Ceremony at Los Angeles Cemetery."

Buyers and sellers must act fast, as winners must pick up their tickets Monday at an off-site distribution center. At that time, the wristband will be placed on their wrists ...

I hope so.......
Good grief! To me this is totally off-the-wall unbelievable! People may riot because they can't get a free ticket to his memorial service? It would be laughable if it weren't so totally pathetic, and the worst part is that I'll bet a large percentage of them worship Jackson but don't worship God.
IDIOTS! If they have even a modicum of a brain they sure hide it well.
the state and its cities and counties are BROKE. how the hell is this a priority for anyone? why don't the jackson's just do a private ceremony and be done with it. disgusting.
Why, heidianne?
The cynic in me says ... because the Jackson empire perceives a limited window to establish a posthumous revenue stream, a la Elvis. Follow the money.
The less cynical part of me says ... they are just continuing in the narcissistic cluelessness that has driven them since they became superstars.
