Ron Paul's Speech at CPAC

I'm hardly a fan of Ron Paul, but no doubt he's a top CPAC newsmaker.

The Hill has a report, "
Ron Paul slams Patriot Act, backers drown out jeers at conference." And the big theme at USA Today, "Ron Paul: U.S. ‘propped up’ Mubarak in Egypt." (Via Memeorandum.)

In any case, listen to it. The guy's a crank, IMHO. And from the comments at
Gateway Pundit:

When will this guy just go away? His looney followers are what make me hate the guy. They are worse than Obamabots.
Well, his loony followers make it easier to hate the guy, but Ron Paul's a clown all by himself.

BONUS: More coverage, with a lovely photograph of Mary Katharine and myself: "
Mary Katharine Ham Covers Mitch Daniels' Speech at CPAC."

More later ...

Neocons are for economic liberty but are willing to ignore the 4th amendment? Why not do what conservatives used to do and amend the constitution to clearly legalise the Patriot act provisions.

The fact is we can't afford all the layers of security neocons support, NSA, CIA, FBI, DHS, TSA, ICE, Border Partol, DEA, the list goes on. Not to mention it's impossible to protect all Americans all the time, if that is our goal we should immediately become a police state or declare martial law and stop messing around.

Ron Paul is the rep from my district and he is in no danger of losing his seat as long as he wants to stay. He is a bit of a loon though I must admit.

Ron Paul has no credibility with me.

As far as the Patriot Act is concerned, which parts of it are unconstitutional and why? Those who continually attack the act are always immensely vague on that.

The only thing worse then a neoconservative is an outright leftist. Loon is a way you claim you have a sense of reason. I do not share your nation-building sentiment and a hope it backfires as the mid-east is purging American and western influence. I would like to see a mutual respect of eachothers cultural autonomy. Your precious Israel: that beacon of an imposed western culture is not worth it.
