Why Fret? Sarah Palin Will Win GOP Nomination and She'll Beat Obama!

Nate Silver says Republicans are fretting over "the quality of their slate of presidential candidates for 2012." Perhaps, although not Jedediah Bila:

Sarah Palin does speak the homilies of the Conservative Bible. But Sarah is the most polarizing figure in American politics.

As the conscience of the Conservatives, she is a powerful voice and rallying point for them. But as a leader capable of rallying a nation to follow the Conservative path, I fear she will rally the opposition to erect walls across that path.

Sarah is black and white in a world of the light spectrum. The comfortable Conservative absolutes are similar to the comfortable Christian absolutes that get a lot of lip service, but mainly on Sundays.

But she's a Reagan Conservative... not! Reagan was a man of strong principles who never lost sight of those principles, but he was not an antagonist as much as a silky, skilled opponent who kept nudging and smiling and nudging and smiling until his opponents were walking along side of him and feeling like his best buddies. Sarah is not like that at all. She likes being a "mama grizzly."

Her confrontational, grating approach may be well received by those who agree in principle with her, but will be ferociously fought by those who don't. Her homespun style may work in Anchorage or Fairbanks, but not in the populous, urban-centered states.

Honey or flyswatter... Sarah always picks the latter.
