It's Not in the Way That Your Love Set Me Free...

Some songs bring back very specific memories. Toto's "Hold the Line" reminds me of a partying buddy in high school. His name was John. He was a kind of hippy geek, but I loved him (and I was a skater geek, of course). We'd practically stop the car to play air guitar to this song ... Enjoy Toto:

Toto is hard to dismiss on the musical beaches in my mind.. Every now and then, Africa, will roll in on the waves and land again.. Most understand why they play "oldies" in grocery stores to placate the aged shoppers.. To be deeply connected to a moment lost in time that was happy is an amazing compliment to the human condition. I noticed the other day.. They're not playing the really old tunes like they used to.. They were playing more "contemporary" tunes that I grew up listening to.. Then it dawned on me precisely what was happening.. I was happy.. But internally reticent at the same time..
