Read the whole thing. I've written a least a couple of post on Che's hold on "progressive" culture, so I'll let Michael Goldfarb have the last word:“I’m getting uncomfortable,” Benicio del Toro said after fielding a question about his new movie’s portrayal of the Bolivian and Cuban revolutions. “I’m done. I’m done, I hope you write whatever you want. I don’t give a damn.”
With that, the Oscar-winning actor walked away, abruptly terminating an interview conducted late last week to discuss director Steven Soderbergh's "Che" ...
Mr. del Toro doesn’t deny that Guevara’s persona had some darker aspects. “We have to omit a lot of stuff about his life,” he said, “but we’re not omitting the fact that he’s for capital punishment, which is the essence of that.” ...
“They didn’t do it blindly; they had trials,” Mr. del Toro said. “They found them guilty, and they executed them - that’s capital punishment” ...
At 4.5 hours long, it can't be very easy to watch either, but hopefully that doesn't stop all the asthmatic children who, with the right amount of love and encouragement, can still grow up to execute the enemies of the revolution.(But don't miss the short video clip with Bunch as well.)

Yeh, we must leave it to some of you noble americans to act as the world' police and executioners.
Considering your noble support of some of the most brutal regimes this world has ever seen.
REad: Batista, Suharto, Saddam Hussein anyone?
As long as they play your fiddle you're along for the ride eh Donald?
Spoken like a true American revisionist historian.
Didn't I tell you to get lost, C.S.? Hit the road will you? Screw Hussein and the others. They deserved what they got, and flipping the table to U.S. "imperialism" shows you've got nothin upstairs but anti-Americanism and BDS.
Don't come back, freak.
Donald,
I don't expect anything more than partisan hackery from people like yourself anyways.
The fact that you call yourself an academic is rather a shame to this noble profession.
OHhh you accused me of being "anti-American"...I am totally floored and surprised.......NOT.
I realise that people like yourself tend to be too dense to finally get the hint that your country has become a crap hole in need of a real make over. Now that you have a President that you don't support, you also have the luxury of passing blame when he's unable to create gold dust with a wave of a magic wand.
So no explanations for why your country has supported those brutal dictators in the past Donald? I didn't think so.
There is no explanation.
Don't you profess to be a Christian? Perhaps, Jesus was thinking of you guys when he said something along the lines of taking the pole out of one's eye before ....................."?
I think I'll pass on this movie.
I'm going to pretend that CS is not here, and comment on your post. How he spins this post about a dumb actor, into "America to act as the world' police and executioners." is a mystery!
Another whining Hollywood hack, what’s new?
All the adoration by liberals of Che Guevera, is proof positive that they don’t know a thing about the person they revere. The anti-war, make love not war left, who love him unconditionally should get out a history book, and read about this murdering friend of theirs! Or continue being hypocrites, they do that so well.
I think it’s pretty typical of the elite Hollywood liberal; DelToro can’t take a few questions about the role he was playing. Because he really doesn’t know anything about the guy, or because the truth hurts???
Trish,
I am not trying to spin anything, but addressing this obsessive compulsive urge of ultra-nationalist fanatics for pointing out the slightest of failures of others while forgeting about the giant gorilla bones in their own closets.
These ultra-nationalists seem to have a pervasive obsession with revisionist versions of America's history.
Names need not be mentioned.
