January 20th: Inaugural Indoctrination Day

My campus has sponsored a set of inaugural activities to celebrate Barack Obama's accession to the presidency.

One of these is a talk by Dr. Julian Del Gaudio on the morning of the inauguration, "Democratic Presidents, Economic Crisis, and the Possibilities for Progressive Change."

Professor Del Gaudio teaches history in my department. He is co-chair of LBCC's "Campus Progressives," which is a local affiliate of International ANSWER. One might infer that the "progressive change" mentioned in the title of the lecture seeks to move society much further to the left than the current left-right centrism of the traditional American party system.

In any case, it's funny how we never had inauguration celebrations on campus in 2001 or 2005, when President Bush was elected. That's no surprise, of course, but it bears mentioning.

In any case, check out this essay from Sally Zelikovsky, "
January 20th, Indoctrination Day," which includes this letter to parents at an unidentified elementary school announcing Obama-related activities:

Dear Parents:

As we begin our 2009 school year, we do so with new hope! As a school community we will celebrate the spirit of CHANGE! We have six days of activities planned for our students, culminating in the viewing of the inauguration of our new president on January 20, 2009. We will all be in our Multipurpose Room, watching together as Barack Obama takes the oath of office.

You will be getting more information in the next few days. Most importantly, we invite you to join your child as we view the inauguration festivities. We will open our doors at 7:00 am on January 20, 2009. We will be showing the event live on our large screen in the Multipurpose Room. Beginning at 8:10, all children will gather, and we will have a variety of events taking place: explanations by guests, singing, music performances, etc.

Our fifth grade students will be leaving for outdoor education camp following the inauguration. Parents of fifth graders will be getting detailed information of the schedule for the day including sleeping bag/suitcase drop off, etc.

Third and fourth grade students are asked to dress in "formal attire" ready for the inaugural ball at lunchtime!! This attire can be as simple as a pair of white gloves, a jacket, a bow tie. During lunch recess there will be "ball" activities for all!

Building up to our inaugural event, we will all participate in a Character/Citizenship Week. We will remember that we are all called to "think wisely", "care" and "grow". Children will be asked to bring "change" for "change" (proceeds for global projects).

There will also be a student bake sale and daily fun events during lunch recess (see flyer below for schedule)

We invite all of you to be part of this historic event. Join us on January 20th in our Multipurpose Room as we celebrate together!

Funny you should write that about the lack of celebration of President Bush in 2001 and 2005. My wife keeps saying the same thing. And, she will be subjected to the coronation as well where she works. I will not be watching as my job I have to work. I wish President-elect Obama well, but the adulation is taking away that hope because it is just TOO MUCH!

If this was being done. Every time we had a new president come into office I would say. That's great, but this is beyond expectations. I can still remember when we had a visit from a state senator when I was in 8th grade. Four years later I voted for that senator. Why is this being done with the "Change" attached to it. we are brainwashing at a very early age and it will stick.......

Assuming it is true, the "unidentified elementary school" is doing something very inappropriate, particularly in the use of the "CHANGE" theme.
Surely someone among the staff would pause and consider that not all the parents of their students are pleased that Obama was elected... (even if I was pleased)

Small point perhaps but I particularly do not care for the phrase "assume their roles as educated and well-informed young citizens" in the other letter. Well-intentioned perhaps, but not of the tone of individuality and self-determination that I think of as democratic.

This is not surprising at all. This left wing euphoria has a big achilles heel. They are setting expectations for Obama way too high. Any problems for him and it is going to be a long, long fall down. The emotions of love and hate are not far apart.

Soooooo... they held an "inaugural ball" school event in 2001 and 2004 also, right?? And they would have held one for McCain had he won, right?? I mean, it's not like they're trying to indoctrinate children into Obamaworship and into thinking of a President as a dictator figure, right?? (Like how Obama wants America to see him and his office ... like he was Stalin to Russia or Castro to Cuba, right??)

Don't people "get" that a man moving a nation to a dictatorship creates a personality cult?? Shees. No appreciation for the principles of democracy. I say, "Let them go to Hades". Secession is the answer. This is another reason "why". The spirit of antichrist is drawing it's worshippers in creating a dictator personality cult in the office of President. It is the left that is necessitating the secession of the right to maintain liberty, freedom, justice for all and one nation under God as we were founded. (Their totalitarian socialist dictatorship will become one nation under Obama - which is why this nation will become two separate nations that split from each other.) The spirit produces it's own fruit. This personality cult WILL produce socialist totalitarian dictatorship. And so the choice will be to "stay" to maintain a "united" one nation (under those conditions) or to leave to preserve the true nation that was founded in the USA as Obama creates an entirely different nation that we "signed up for". That's why we'll split ideologically - and by the necessities, also. He's not going to to talk conservatives or Christians into his socialist totalitarian dictatorship - we'll know what's coming... as the lemmings continue marching to the sea - with folks like these school teachers and administrators leading the march.

International ANSWER is closely related to the World Workers Party. The World Workers Party has actively
supported and defended the North Korean regime for years. Even while millions were starving to death.

Oh look... Obama may want to use torture by executive order!! Oh joy!! What "change".

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090116/ap_on_go_pr_wh/obama_interrogations

"For Obama, who repeatedly insisted during the 2008 presidential campaign and the transition period that "America doesn't torture," a classified loophole would allow him to follow through on his promise to end harsh interrogations while retaining a full range of presidential options in conducting the war against terrorism.

The proposed loophole, which could come in the form of a classified annex to the manual, is designed to satisfy intelligence experts who fear that an outright ban of so-called enhanced interrogation techniques would limit the government in obtaining threat information that could save American lives. It would also preserve Obama's flexibility to authorize any interrogation tactics he might deem necessary for national security.

However, such a move would frustrate Senate Democrats and human rights, retired military and religious groups that have pressed for a government-wide prohibition on methods they describe as torture."

Wonder what Obamites will think of their "glorious leader" as he retains power to torture by executive order?? ?? to Obamites: So... are you people of principle (like I am for saying Bush is wrong about torture)... or are you just leftists who make excuses for every foul thing liberals do??

If it would make you and your neocon brethren happy perhaps Bush could have a few guys tortured Tuesday morning Professor. You guys could celebrate that.

Don't know why we should be surprised that your college is having such a celebration, and that one wasn't held in 2001 or 2005. After all, it seems that Mr Obama's inauguration will cost roughly 3½ times as much as President Bush's second inaugural, adjusted for inflation.

Of course, The New York Times lamented the excessive cost of the 2005 inauguration while men were exposed to danger in Iraq, even though, adjusted for inflation, it was less expensive than President Clinton's first inauguration.

Hold on to your wallet's folks, 'cause money is no object when it comes to these people!

I wonder what they will say when his policies either don't match up to their beliefs or if he does what they ask and everything comes crashing down.

Should he fail his constituents, some will defend his every move, no matter how disgraceful (just like some righties have done with/for Bush over the last eight years -- 2 days, 2 hours, & 41 minutes left to go, by the way) and some will speak out against him where he does the wrong thing. (Kinda like those folks bitching about his having Warren at the inauguration, fer'instance.)

Should he do the right thing, & still fail, well, I'm pretty sure it'll be very similar to the way the right is acting & reacting as regards Bush, here in his final days and hours. Most of you think he did a heckofa job, and yet you cannot help but notice how much worse off we are now than we were 8 (or even 4) years ago.

Donald.
Perhaps the most difficult thing to understand about Australian politics is the naming of the 2 major parties. There is the Liberal Party Of Australia. Quite the opposite of what that title might suggest, this party most closely resembles the Republicans in attitude and in policies, and comes from the right of centre. The other party is the Australian Labor Party. (without the letter 'U')
A year before you did, we changed Government from the right to the left, Labor.
We have a National broadcaster, the ABC, which has no affiliations to your U.S. ABC network. Even though this broadcaster likes to pride itself on its impartiality, they are considered as the television arm of the Labor Party.
To that end, they are broadcasting the inauguration live, which is around 3AM Wednesday morning our time. In case you miss it because you, er, might in actual fact be sleeping, they will rebroadcast it at 9AM, then again at Midday, and then again in prime time Wednesday night.
The Labor Government here is beating the Obama drum out loud for all it can get mileage from.
We've had one year longer than you with a Government from the left, and it seems that already the bovine excrement has come into violent contact with the rotating wind generating device. (work it out)
We are told that Obama is virtually the Saviour of the Planet, and that this is the dawn of a new age.
I'll bet you guys thought you were the only ones going over the top.
From this, the impression that I'm getting is that the left is just all about 'show' while the right just prefers to get down to work.
Tony.
